(Minghui.org) Two residents in Yongkang City, Zhejiang Province, were recently sentenced and a third arrested for their faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Mr. Shi Guanxian was sentenced to three years. He was arrested on June 21, 2018, after being reported for talking to people about Falun Gong. He has been in the Yongkang City Detention Center ever since.
Mr. Shi appeared in the Wucheng District Court on November 29, 2019. The evidence against him included his Falun Gong books and banknotes with information about Falun Gong printed on them that were confiscated from his home.
Due to strict censorship in China, many Falun Gong practitioners use creative ways to spread information about the persecution of their faith, including writing messages on banknotes.
The second practitioner, Mr. Lou Zhenkang, in his 70s, was sentenced to three and a half years in prison. He was arrested at home on April 23, 2019. The authorities extorted 2,000 yuan from his family. Further details about Mr. Lou’s case remain to be investigated.
The third practitioner, Ms. Shi Mengqiao, was arrested on February 12, 2020, after the police saw her distributing Falun Gong materials on surveillance cameras. Two dozen officers ransacked her home and confiscated her Falun Gong books, computer, and printer. Her husband, Mr. Hu Tiejun, was also arrested and held in custody for one day. Ms. Shi was later transferred to Yongkang City Detention Center and her arrest has been approved.
