(Minghui.org) Two group arrests of Falun Gong practitioners took place within four days in Guangdong and Hebei, two provinces more than 1,000 miles apart.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is an ancient spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since 1999.
15 Arrested on June 14 in Guangdong
On June 14, 2020, the authorities in Rongcheng District, Jieyang City, Guangdong Province dispatched more than 100 police officers and arrested 15 practitioners.
Nine practitioners, including Chen Hongyuan, Yao Shaohong, Wu Yueyin, Jiang Biyin, Cai Wenjun, Wanzhen, Rongduan, Peizhen, and Jingjiao, were arrested while studying Falun Gong teachings together. (The last four practitioners’ surnames are not known.)
Another six practitioners, including Yanzhi, Liqing, Chunlan, Mu, Lin Jieshan and another practitioner whose name is unknown, were arrested at their homes.
Jiang Biyin, Cai Wenjun, Wanzhen, Rongduan, Peizhen, and Jingjiao have been released. Chen Hongyuan is being detained at the Jieyang City Detention Center. The other practitioners’ detention locations are unknown.
It’s reported that the authorities had been monitoring the practitioners for a long time before making the arrests.
14 Arrested on June 18 in Hebei Province
On June 18, 2020, more than 40 police officers arrested at least 14 practitioners in the early morning hours between 4 and 5 a.m. in Fengrun District, Tangshan City, Hebei Province.
The 14 practitioners are: Qian Shujuan, Zhang Guiqin, Qiu Ruiwang, Qiu Ruichang, Wang Lijun, Yang Liyan, Wang Xianling, Han Xiurong, Yang Chenghui, Zhang Yuejun, Xiao Huijun, Fei Lanying, Han Yuqin, and Zhu Guotai.
Most practitioners had their homes ransacked and their Falun Gong books, computers and printers confiscated. Yue Weifang was harassed and had her home ransacked. The police didn’t arrest her due to her physical condition.
