(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 18 cities or counties in 12 provinces, where at least 43 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Wei Guirong was arrested at home by more than twelve unidentified people on the morning of July 17, 2020. Her home was ransacked. It is not known where she is being held.
Ms. Li Zhanjin, 72, a retired senior engineer, was arrested on September 29, 2019. She has been held in the Haidian Detention Center for over nine months, and the authorities have not allowed her family to visit or call her.
A female practitioner from Loujiadian Township was arrested at home by officers from the Loujiadian Township Police Station, the Beipiao Police Department, and Tong Dejiang, head of the Beipiao Domestic Security Division, on the afternoon of July 2, 2020. Her home was ransacked, and over 40 Falun Dafa books, two small speakers, two boxes of Minghui Weekly, and a TV set-top box were confiscated.
She was taken to the police station, where she was cuffed to a torture chair, and told to sign paperwork. She was then taken to the police department. The police demanded that her family pay 3,000 yuan. They did not present any legal documents or receipts and released her.
Ms. Liu Shuzhi was arrested on July 18, 2020.
Residential community police officers and residential committee personnel pried open the door to Ms. Zhao Yongjun’s home, ransacked the place, and confiscated Falun Dafa books on July 16, 2020.
Elderly Mr. Zhao and several other elderly practitioners were arrested when they were reading the Falun Dafa book together on July 14, 2020. They were released.
Ms. Pan Huiling, 74, from Baiyun District, was arrested by the Baiyun District police on July 14, 2020, for talking to people about Falun Gong. She is being held in the Chatou Detention Center.
Ms. Liu Ruilian, disabled, was arrested at home by officers sent by Zhang Pengfei, head of the Fengning County Domestic Security Division, on July 1, 2020. She was taken to the Dage Town Police Station, where she did not eat for two days. On the third day, she was taken to the Chengde City Detention Center. She has been held there. Family visits were not allowed.
Elderly female practitioner Xiaoxiang was arrested by six officers, who claimed to be from the Daxuelu Police Department, Wulipu Sub-district, around 10 p.m. on July 16, 2020. Her home was ransacked, and all photos of the founder of Falun Gong, printed materials, cash, deposit books, bank cards were confiscated.
She was handcuffed and taken to the police department. She was then taken to the Zhengzhou City No. 3 Detention Center, which refused to accept her because it was too late. She was then released.
Chen Zhao, an officer from the Rui’an City 610 Office, and another officer from the Mayu Town Police Station went to the homes of Ms. Fan Meihong, Mr. Wu Renfei, and Ms. Chen Hemei and harassed them on July 14, 2020.
Six officers from the Tongzhou District 610 Office, the Domestic Security Division, and the Development Zone Police Station broke into Ms. Xu Yaping’s home, ransacked the place, and arrested her at noon on July 15, 2020.
Ms. Su Xiaofei, Ms. Yu Meilian, Ms. Zhang Suzhen, Ms. Diao Mei’e, and Ms. Zhang Mei, from Tongzhou District, were harassed by the local police and village officials in June 2020. The police and village officials tried to force practitioners to sign pre-written guarantee statements and “transformation letters.”
Ms. Kang Naiyi, 78, a retired teacher, from Tongzhou District, was arrested in 2019. She was released on bail. At the end of the one-year bail, officers from the Domestic Security Division and 610 Office went to her home in July 2020 and demanded she sign paperwork.
Ms. Kang refused to cooperate, so the officers threatened to deduct her retirement salary and take away her son’s job.
Officers from the Jiyuqiao Police Station, Wuchang District, went to 78-year-old Ms. Chen Hanyun’s home and ransacked the place when she was at home alone on the morning of July 15, 2020.
Ms. Chen was arrested and taken to the police station around 8:00 a.m. She was not released until 2:00 a.m. after midnight.
Ms. Zhao Tianmei was harassed at her workplace by three officers, including Ma Xianyong from the Mazhuang Police Station, in June 2020. The officers tried to force her to sign statements renouncing Falun Gong, which was rejected by Ms. Zhao.
Her non-practitioner husband was threatened by Ma a few days later. He worried their son’s future would be affected, so he beat and abused Ms. Zhao at home.
Mr. Gong Wenyi was held in the No. 10 Ward. From September to October 2019, he was kept in solitary confinement for three months for listening to his MP3.
Mr. Sun Tongqing and Mr. Xu Bin (from Daqing City) were held in the No. 2 Ward. Mr. Sun was often not given enough to eat. Mr. Xu was held in the Intensive Training Ward in 2019 and was in critical condition. He was taken to the Harbin City Central Hospital for emergency rescue. Two or three months later, he was taken back to the Hulan Prison Hospital.
Mr. Yan Jiguo was released on May 6, 2020. He was later taken away and placed under quarantine by the local 610 Office and residential community personnel.
Mr. Liu Jingzhou was held in the No. 8 Ward. Mr. Li Chang’an was held in the No. 10 Ward. Mr. He Haijun was held in the Hulan Prison Hospital.
Liu Meicheng and two other Zhuolu County police officers went to Ms. Guo Jianhong’s home again and harassed her on the afternoon of July 6, 2020. They demanded that she sign guarantee statements. This was the fourth time she was harassed at home.
Ms. Yan Ling, in her 70s, was arrested on July 15, 2020.
The Quwo County Procuratorate brought Ms. Guo Suling’s case to the Quwo County Court on July 13, 2020. The authorities asked her to go to the court to pay 20,000 yuan for bail.
The Huangdao District Court notified the lawyers of Ms. Zhou Yuxiang and Ms. Zhou Jun in recent days. The two practitioners from Pingdu District were scheduled to be tried on the morning of July 22, 2020, at the Jimo Detention Center.
Cases of Ms. Chen Liping, Ms. Wan Xiaoping, Ms. Yang Jinfeng, and Ms. Wan Jinlian were brought over to the Xihu District Court by the Xihu District Procuratorate on July 7, 2020. They will be tried soon.
Three of them were arrested in July 2019, and Ms. Wan Jinlian was arrested in September 2019. They were all released on bail.
Six or seven officers from the Heping Police Station broke into Ms. Shao Ailan’s home on the afternoon of July 13, 2020.
Ms. Yang Chunting, in her 80s, and Ms. Yu Dong, in her 70s, were also at Ms. Shao’s home at that time. Ms. Shao is blind. The officers attempted to arrest them, Ms. Shao firmly resisted. In the end, the officers arrested Ms. Yang and Ms. Yu. They also confiscated three copies of Zhuan Falun and photos of the founder of Falun Gong.
Upon learning about the arrests, the two practitioners’ families went to the police station to demand their release. Both practitioners were released around 8:00 p.m. that evening.
Ms. Yang was again called to the police station the following day. She was given a warrant of criminal detention for 15 days and fined 1,000 yuan.
Officers from the Heping Police Station broke into the home of Mr. Hou Jingtai, an 80-year-old Dafa practitioner, on July 13, 2020. Mr. Hou was not at home at the time, and his daughter was arrested. When Mr. Hou returned home around 6 o’clock that evening, the police took him to the police station as well. Mr. Hou and his daughter were released around midnight.
Ms. Jiang Chunyan and Ms. Zhang Dehong were reported to the police for talking to people about Falun Gong on the afternoon of July 1, 2020. Ms. Zhang was arrested and taken to Beiquan Police Station.
Feng Hua and other Domestic Security officers ransacked Ms. Zhang’s home after 6 o’clock that evening. They confiscated all Falun Dafa books, two tablets, six or seven U disks, DVDs, among other items.
Officers went to Ms. Jiang’s home and ransacked the place after 8 o’clock that evening. Ms. Jiang was arrested and taken to the police station for interrogation.
Both practitioners were released around 10 o’clock that evening.
The police station called both practitioners at noon on July 2 and asked them to go to the police station in the afternoon. The two practitioners were then forced to go to a hospital for physical examination. Afterward, they were held in the police station until the morning of July 3. They were then taken to a detention center, and released on July 18.
Ms. Xiao Bing, 71, from Qishan County, was arrested at home by the director and other officers from the Shennong Police Station on the morning of July 9, 2020. Her home was ransacked. She was taken to the police station, where she was tortured when the officers tried to extract information from her. Her son bailed her out on the afternoon of July 11.
