(Minghui.org) Back in 2018, the left side of my front teeth started to hurt after I ate some spicy food. The pain was unbearable. There is a common saying, “a toothache is not a disease, but the pain will kill you.” I had practiced Falun Dafa for over 10 years and understood that the pain was caused by a significant problem in my cultivation. I didn’t believe my toothache was a disease as an everyday person would.
I started looking inward for my problems. I started with the simplest of attachments, such as the attachment to food and cultivating speech. I found myself obsessed with eating my favorite foods, cooking with little thought for my family’s preferences, and thinking only about myself. These attachments were wrapped in nice-sounding phrases like, “It’s healthy and nutritious to eat this way.”
My other problem was liking to argue. I often quarreled with my husband. Before being married, I was not meddlesome. But after I got married, I was dragged into the trivialities of everyday people by small things, and I often forgot that I was a cultivator. I did not meet the essential requirement for a practitioner.
“… you did not fight back when hit or talk back when cursed at.” (Fa-Teaching Given at the Conference in Sydney).
I was shocked to realize that I had strayed so far from the Fa.
Then, my teeth hurt so much that it was difficult to sleep. A voice reminded me that I needed to apologize. I realized that it was a hint from Master Li. It was hard for me to say I was sorry. I had been strong-willed all my life. But the toothache was just too much to bear.
I ran to my husband and said: “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have argued with you before. It’s all my fault, please forgive me.” He looked at me with a surprised expression and muttered something. I only heard the last word he said, “nuts!”
Even so, my toothache instantly lessened. I went to bed and actually fell asleep. It was more than clear that I had identified the right issue. But the problem wasn’t that simple, and the next day the toothache was back.
Then I thought about my sharp tongue, which was formed by my growing up in the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) culture. I continued looking inwards and remembered that I had not brushed my teeth properly before bed for several years.
After the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party was published in 2004, I realized that I needed to brush my teeth properly. But I still didn't do well. I then had a dream in which Master made me become small to see what my world was like without brushing my teeth.
I felt so ashamed. I was so sloppy and behaving worse than a child. After that, I started brushing my teeth twice a day. But I still did not take oral hygiene seriously. Someone said to me that I should get my teeth cleaned. It was a wake-up call, but I did not pay it much attention. The toothache, however, seemed to lessen a bit.
At this time, a new version of the Falun Dafa exercise music was published on the Minghui website, which had an hour-long version of exercise two (The Falun Standing Stance).
I thought that the cause of my toothache was not reaching the standard for cultivation; so I extended my meditation time, and the toothache was noticeably relieved. However, once the pain went away, I slacked off again.
The hour-long version of the second exercise was a way for Master to push us upward. After doing the second exercise for one hour, my teeth stopped hurting and the wobbling of some teeth also disappeared.
My teeth returned to normal, but I slacked off again. During that time, I went to get my teeth cleaned and was told that I had severe periodontitis, which did not have a good prognosis. I realized that I still did not have 100 percent faith in Master and Dafa.
We were told that the WeChat app was bugged and that for safety’s sake, Dafa disciples should not use it. I hadn’t deleted it from my phone yet, so I quickly removed the app. Just then, I saw a disgusting serpent from another dimension that Master had cut with a sword. My teeth improved significantly after this incident.
Still, I couldn't always do the second exercise for an hour. Sometimes, I would do it for half an hour twice in a row. Later I warned myself not to try shortcuts, and to do things right in the first place.
My toothache came and went until the outbreak of the CCP virus (COVID-19) began. It was only during this period that I quieted down and examined my cultivation. I began to pay attention to the exercises and extended the second exercise from 30 minutes to one hour as required.
My periodontitis then disappeared, and my teeth don’t hurt anymore.
