(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 24 cities or counties in 10 provinces, where at least 49 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Mr. Chu Guiyan, 50, and his wife, Ms. Bie Lihua, 48, from Shuangliao City were arrested. Mr. Chu was later sentenced to eight years in prison and taken to Gongzhuling Prison in January 2020.
Mr. Shen Hongqi, Mr. Jiao Bingnan, Ms. Wang Yalan, and Ms. Xu Mingxia were tried. Mr. Jiao and Ms. Wang have returned home. Mr. Shen remains in custody. Ms. Xu is in critical condition due to abuse in detention; she was taken to Baoji City Central Hospital for emergency treatment.
Mr. Wang Zhanfa and his wife, Ms. Wang Zaixia, were arrested at home by Tan Fujia and other officers from the Guangming Police Department on November 7, 2019. They have been detained at the Chaoyang City Detention Center for nearly nine months. Their cases were sent to the Shuangta District Court, and they were scheduled for trial on August 11, 2020.
Blood samples from over 10 practitioners, including Mr. Gao Qiao, Mr. Gao Xing, Mr. Gao Dong, from the Pudong New Area, were forcibly taken by police.
The police additionally collected the practitioners’ fingerprints and palm prints, recorded their voices, measured their height, and took samples of their handwriting (practitioners were ordered to write 300 Chinese characters on paper). The police took one frontal photo and two profile photos of each practitioner.
In May 2020, Ms. Wu Liandi was reported to police for visiting another practitioner’s home. Community officers from Gaodong Town, Pudong New Area, used that visit as an excuse and broke into Ms. Wu’s home, ransacked the place, and confiscated a copy of Zhuan Falun.
Two carloads of police officers arrived at 73-year-old Ms. Fu Fenglan’s home on the morning of July 21, 2020. Ms. Fu was not at home, so the officers went to find her son and ordered him to tell Ms. Fu to go to the police station.
That afternoon, Ms. Fu’s daughter-in-law accompanied her to the police station. The police asked her how many years she had practiced Falun Gong, whether she was still practicing, who she knew, and who paid for making the truth-clarification booklets.
Ms. Fu was questioned by police for over two hours and was then ordered to sign the transcript. The police then took out a search warrant, went to her home, and ransacked the place. They confiscated a copy of Zhuan Falun.
Mr. Ma Jun and Ms. Yang Xiuying from Chengguan District were reported to the police for talking to people about Falun Gong. They were arrested and taken to the Yanjiaping Police Station. They were later taken to the Qilihe Police Department and interrogated. Mr. Ma was taken home at 11:30 p.m. and Ms. Yang was taken home around midnight.
Gao, an officer from the Chenggu 610 Office, and Zhang, head of the Chenggu Police Department, and three other people recently went to Chenggu Insurance Company, an agent of China Life Insurance, to harass Ms. Yu Huijun at work.
Ms. Yu, in her 50s, was ordered to write a guarantee statement promising to stop practicing Falun Gong, which she refused to do.
The officers threatened to take her to Love Base Brainwashing Center in Mian County and detain her there for three months. They claimed that the associated costs would be paid by her work unit, but the insurance company refused to do so.
Ms. Su Lifeng was arrested on the evening of August 6, 2020.
Over 10 officers from the Renminlu Police Station and the Shenmu Domestic Security Division broke into Ms. Wu Lifen’s home and arrested her on the morning of August 6, 2020. Ms. Wu was taken to the police station for interrogation.
Mr. Wang Dayong from Wangshi Town was reported to the police for talking to people about Falun Gong. He was arrested by officers from the Haicheng City Police Department and the Wangshi Town Police Station on September 19, 2019, and his home was ransacked. Mr. Wang was taken to Erdaohe Detention Center, and his case was sent to the Lishan Court, Anshan City.
The home of Ms. Chen Guifang, 60, was ransacked by officers from the Beijinglu Police Station on July 31, 2020. The officers confiscated Falun Dafa books and 20,000 yuan in cash.
The home of Ms. Li Jinlan, 65, was also ransacked by the officers at the same time.
Mr. Wei Anyue, about 61, has lost contact with others since August 2, 2020.
Ms. Sun Yuying was tried and given a three-year prison term by the Chuanying District Court at the end of July 2020. She is detained at the Jilin City Detention Center.
It is suspected that Mr. Lin Shaoqing from Xiashan District was recently arrested and taken to the Zhanjiang City Brainwashing Center.
Ms. Qiu Xinfang, 68, was deceived, arrested, and taken to the Nanyang City Detention Center by officers from the Guxian Town Police Station, Tongbai County, on August 1, 2020. Her case was sent to the Tongbai County Court.
Ms. Yu Kaixin from Wenjiang District was spotted by community security guards when posting stickers (with a QR code downloaded from the Minghui website for Internet access) in her residential community on July 28, 2020. She was arrested by officers from the Yunxi Police Station. She was released after 11 p.m. that evening.
Mr. Lin Wei from the Ninghua County Forestry Bureau was arrested when talking to people about Falun Gong in early May 2019. It was reported that he was sentenced to four years in prison by the Ninghua County Court.
Officers from the Jiuquan City Police Department, the Suzhou District Police Department, and various other police stations and community police sub-stations, along with community personnel recently harassed several practitioners.
Practitioners known to have been harassed are: Ms. Jia Yanxia, Ms. Xie Hongying, Ms. Song Lanying, Ms. Ru Huiqin, Ms. Xu Liying, Ms. Zhao Jinying, Ms. Li Shufang, Ms. Zhou Shufang, and Ms. Liu Ruixian.
It was reported that the officers and community personnel paid practitioners’ families to talk the practitioners into signing statements renouncing Falun Gong.
Ms. Zhang Xiaoqin from Fuling District was reported to the police for talking to people about Falun Gong on June 30, 2020. She was arrested, her home was ransacked, and police confiscated a computer, printer, and Falun Dafa books.
Ms. Zhang was placed under criminal detention and taken to the Fuling District Detention Center.
Four people, including personnel from the Fuyu Town Comprehensive Management Office and Xu, a security officer at the Mingxi Residential Community, went to Ms. Xu Jinju’s home on August 7, 2020. They took out a printed “commitment letter” and ordered her to sign it, saying it would erase any record of her being associated with Falun Gong in the government network system. Ms. Xu refused to sign.
Ms. Xu Jingbo was scheduled for trial on August 12, 2020.
Mr. Yuan Zhiqiang was arrested by the Beibei District Domestic Security officers on May 15, 2020. He was placed under criminal detention on May 21 and officially arrested in June. It was reported that his case was turned over to the Jiangbei District Procuratorate.
Four officers from the Nongnongping Police Station tried to break into Mr. You Yuanzhang’s home at 7 p.m. on August 6, 2020. They were stopped by Mr. You.
The officers insisted on going in to conduct a search. Mr. You asked for a search warrant, which the officers did not have. The officers tried to forcibly pick the lock. When Mr. You turned around to grab a cell phone, the officers were afraid that they would be caught on camera and ran outside.
Mr. You’s wife passed away after being traumatized by ongoing police harassment.
Ms. Qu Xue was detained at the Gaomi City Brainwashing Center for nearly 10 days, and returned home on August 6, 2020. She was called to go to the police station the following day. No additional information is known.
Ms. Xu Keqing and Mr. Dai Xianming were harassed by Xiao Bichun from the Shenglilu Judicial Office and others on August 6, 2020. Both practitioners were audio and video recorded when responding to these officials.
Seven or eight people from the residential community broke into Ms. Jia Yanxia’s home in Xincheng District on the morning of July 7, 2020. It was indicated that the government wanted to reduce the number of Falun Gong practitioners to zero in their jurisdiction. They threatened and intimidated Ms. Jia, saying that if practitioners refused to cooperate, her children’s jobs would be jeopardized.
On July 30, seven or eight people from the residential community again went to Ms. Jia's home and tried to videotape her. Ms. Jia rejected their attempts, and they turned around and left.
Ms. Li Minxiang was harassed by North Yingtaoyuan Village Committee personnel in late July 2020. They ordered Ms. Li to write a guarantee statement promising to stop practicing Falun Gong, which she refused.
Mr. Yu Yongsheng from Putuo District was summoned to the Changning District Police Department on July 29, 2020. Officers from the Changning District Domestic Security Division threatened him, saying they would turn his recent case over to the Changning District Procuratorate.
His recent case was an arrest on the evening of February 29, 2020. Several Domestic Security Division officers broke into Mr. Yu’s home and arrested him for posting stickers on how to avoid being infected by the Wuhan virus. Mr. Yu was taken to the Tianshanlu Police Station for interrogation. The officers forcibly took his fingerprints, and Mr. Yu was held there for several hours until after midnight.
In 2014, Mr. Yu was sentenced to three years in prison for making truth-clarification printouts.
Elderly Ms. Luo from the Jingyue area was reported to the police when she distributed Falun Gong materials on August 1, 2020. She was arrested by officers from the Caiyu Street Police Station. Her home was ransacked, and Falun Dafa books and DVDs of lectures given by Falun Gong's founder were confiscated. Ms. Luo was released that evening after 700 yuan was extorted from her.
Ms. Yu Yingchun from Wendeng District was arrested by a Xuefu Residential Community police officer when talking to people about Falun Gong on the morning of July 3, 2020. She was taken to a police office, where the officer twisted her arms behind her, pushed her onto a chair, and handcuffed her. She was later taken to the Tianfu Police Station for interrogation.
At the police station, officers forced Ms. Yu to sign documents, forcibly took blood samples from her, and pressed her fingerprints and palm prints onto a machine to record them. Ms. Yu was released at 2 p.m. that day.
