(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 25 cities or counties in 10 provinces, where at least 46 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Shangqiu City, Henan Province] Three Practitioners Facing Trial
Mr. Ba Wei, Ms. Xi Dongsong, and Ms. Fan Yuanyuan were scheduled to be tried by the Liangyuan District Court on July 7, 2020, but due to insufficient evidence the trial has been pushed back a few times. The latest notice was that the trial would be held on August 25.
The three practitioners were arrested on August 29, 2019, and have been held in the Pingtai Detention Center.
2. [Jixi City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Liu Hui and Mr. Shen Detained
Mr. Liu Hui and Mr. Shen from Mishan City were arrested on August 15, 2020. Their homes were ransacked. Both practitioners are being held in the Mishan Detention Center.
3. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Ms. Sun Liying and Ms. Li Yanqiu Taken to Prison
Ms. Sun Liying and Ms. Li Yanqiu were both sentenced to eight-year prison terms on July 15, 2020. They are incarcerated in the Shijiazhuang Women's Prison.
4. [Datong City, Shanxi Province] Three Practitioners Taken to Brainwashing Center
Ms. Lu Renyi, Ms. Wang Wenyuan, and Ms. Wang Guilian were called to the police station and were arrested on August 17, 2020. They were taken to the Yufu Hotel Brainwashing Center and were not allowed to go home. They are all widowed and in their 60s.
Ms. Lu’s elderly parents are both seriously ill, and they rely on her to take care of them.
5. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Ms. Zhang Li Harassed
Officers from the Chadao Police Station went to Ms. Zhang Li’s home in Fengshan Village in the Kaiping District and harassed her on the afternoon of August 16, 2020. They told her to sign guarantee statements to stop practicing Falun Gong, which she refused. They also took pictures of her.
6. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Ma Yanfang Detained
Ms. Ma Yanfang was arrested at home by officers from the Jilin Street Police Station in the Erdao District on August 3, 2020. She was taken to the Weizigou Detention Center.
7. [Bin County, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Zhang Fenglan Arrested
Ms. Zhang Fenglan was arrested on the afternoon of August 18, 2020. When her husband came home that evening, he saw that the house was in a mess, and the Falun Dafa books and photos of Falun Gong's founder had been confiscated. Ms. Zhang’s whereabouts are unknown.
8. [Baishan City, Jilin Province] Ms. Chen Guangyan and Her Son Mr. Wang Xiyao Detained
Ms. Chen Guangyan and her son Mr. Wang Xiyao from the Jiangyuan District were arrested by the Jiangyuan police on June 21, 2020, for distributing Falun Gong materials. Their home was ransacked and a computer, printer, and Falun Dafa books were confiscated.
Ms. Chen is being held in the Baishan Detention Center, while Mr. Wang is being held in the Jiangyuan Detention Center.
9. [Bayannur City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region] Ms. Wang Huitao and Mr. Liu Yongcheng Facing Trial
Mr. Wang Huitao from Delingshan Town, Urad Middle Banner, was held in the Urad Front Banner Detention Center. Her family member Mr. Liu Yongcheng was held in the Wuyuan County Detention Center.
Both practitioners are due to be tried in the Wuyuan County Court on the morning of August 27, 2020. Except for lawyers or relatives who will defend the practitioners, no one else is allowed to attend the trial.
10. [Yangquan City, Shanxi Province] Nine Practitioners Arrested
Nine practitioners from Pingding County were arrested on August 2, 2020.
Ms. Kang Wenmei, Ms. Wang, Ms. Qiao Guiying, Ms. Feng Linlin, and Ms. Yin Zhihong were released after 15 days of detention. The situation of the other four practitioners is not known.
11. [Laizhou City, Shandong Province] Ms. Wang Yuzhen Held in Brainwashing Center
Ms. Wang Yuzhen was arrested on August 18, 2020, for talking to people about Falun Gong. It is believed that she is being held in the Dianzi Brainwashing Center.
12. [Dalian City, Shandong Province] Elderly Ms. Xu Arrested
Elderly Ms. Xu from Changhai County was arrested around July 11, 2020.
13. [Beijing] Mr. Lei Zhenfu and Ms. Zhang Jinfang Arrested
Mr. Lei Zhenfu from the Chaoyang District's Fatou area was arrested at home by officers from the Fatou Police Station on August 18, 2020. His whereabouts are unknown.
Ms. Zhang Jinfang, 71, from the Chaoyang District's Baiziwan area was reported to the police on August 18 for talking to people about Falun Gong. The police tracked her to her home through the electronic surveillance camera system, and arrested her. She is on a hunger strike to protest the persecution.
14. [Zhongwei City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region] Ms. Chang Xiu’e and Ms. Huang Yuxia Arrested
After talking to a student about Falun Gong, Ms. Chang Xiu’e was reported to the police by the student’s parent on August 13, 2020. Ms. Chang and Ms. Huang Yuxia were arrested by officers from the Wenchang Police Station.
Ms. Huang was released 24 hours later. Ms. Chang was taken to a detention center.
15. [Handan City, Hebei Province] Mr. Feng He Suffers Loss of Over 310,000 Yuan Due to Persecution
Mr. Feng He's first arrest in 1999 resulted in a direct economic loss of over 120,000 yuan. The second time he was arrested was on September 3, 2009, which resulted in a direct economic loss of over 190,000 yuan.
Chinese Communist Party officials have personally benefited by ransacking homes and confiscating personal belongings, being taken out for dinner, asking for gift shopping cards, taking and asking for personal items for free, taking bail deposits, fines, and possession of accounts from customers of Mr. Feng’s factory.
Mr. Feng’s direct losses amount to over 310,000 yuan.
16. [Panjin City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Ding Yuning Arrested
Mr. Ding Yuning was arrested at work in a securities firm in Panjin in February 2020.
17. [Chongqing] Ms. Zhao Xiaoqun Given Brainwashing Sessions
Yuanjiagang Residential Community personnel in the Xiejiawan Sub-district, Jiulongpo District, and officers from the police station went to Ms. Zhao Xiaoqun’s home in early July 2020, and ordered her to stop practicing Falun Gong. She refused.
They took Ms. Zhao to the Community Residential Committee and held her in a spare room for over a month in an attempt to “transform” her.
Ms. Zhao was videotaped and voice recorded. They threatened to suspend her pension, and financially ruin her if she did not cooperate. The officials also threatened that she would face abuse to the point of death, and she would never see her daughter again.
However, Ms. Zhao returned home on August 8 after going through the brainwashing sessions.
18. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Sun Ruitao Wages Reduced
Ms. Sun Ruitao, an employee of the No. 4 Mine Unit, No. 6 Daqing Oil Production Plant, was arrested by officers from the Longgang Police Station on February 14, 2020, for talking to people about Falun Gong.
Due to the severity of the pandemic at the time, her unit officials bailed her out. She returned home later that evening, but was forced to go to the police station to sign paperwork once a month. Her husband made her go. Almost all her wages were deducted, and she has been given less than 200 yuan since February.
The Longgang Police Department told her to go there for a physical examination.
19. [Lanzhou City, Gansu Province] Mr. Zhang Shutang and His Wife Ms. Ding Xianglan Harassed
Head of the Xigu District Domestic Security Division Lin Haiyan, Yu Wanguo and another officer from the Chenguanying Police Station went to the home of Mr. Zhang Shutang and his wife Ms. Ding Xianglan and harassed them on July 20, 2020.
They took pictures of the couple and videotaped them for nearly an hour.
20. [Mishan City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Zhang Yuling Arrested
Ms. Zhang Yuling was arrested by officers from the Jinsha Police Department on August 19, 2020. Her home was ransacked and a computer, printer, and photos of the founder of Falun Gong were confiscated.
21. [Hegang City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Wang Yuzhen Harassed
Officer Lu Ning from the Xing’an Road Police Station went to Ms. Wang Yuzhen’s home in the Xing’an District and forced her to sign three statements on August 18, 2020.
Officer Lu went to Ms. Wang’s home again the following day, and told her to re-sign a printed copy of the three statements.
22. [Xuanhua County, Hebei Province] Mr. Yang Jianlu Facing Trial
Mr. Yang Jianlu was arrested by Zhang Dianhong, chief of the county police department, and other officers on December 3, 2019. He is being held in the Xuanhua County Detention Center, and is due to be tried by the Xuanhua Court on August 24, 2020.
23. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Ms. Zhao Xin Detained
Ms. Zhao Xin, 69, was followed and arrested by four officers from the Changchun Road Police Station on August 16, 2020, for talking to people about Falun Gong at the Mashi Vegetable Market. Her home was ransacked and some weekly publications were confiscated.
Ms. Zhao is being held in the Jilin City Detention Center. Her family has not been allowed to send her clothes or other necessities.
24. [Huangshi City, Hubei Province] Ms. Hu Qian's Elder Brother Harassed
Officers from the Choujiang Sub-district Domestic Security Division, the police station, and residential community personnel went to Ms. Hu Qian’s elder brother’s workplace and harassed him on August 17, 2020. They threatened to detain him for 24 hours.
25. [Changsha City, Hunan Province] Mr. Dai Xuebing Detained
Mr. Dai Xuebing was arrested at home by officers from the Changsha County Police Department and the Beishan Police Station on August 6, 2020. He is being held in a detention center.
26. [Xingtang County, Hebei Province] Mr. Qian Yuzhong Officially Arrested
Mr. Qian Yuzhong was arrested by Zhao Yalei and other officers from the Longzhou Police Department on July 3, 2020. He was taken to the Xingtang County Detention Center the following day, and officially placed under arrest on July 17.
Mr. Qian was previously sentenced to seven years in prison in 2004. He was incarcerated in the Jidong Prison for over four years, before being released on medical parole.
27. [Handan City, Hebei Province] Two Practitioners Facing Trial, Mr. Liu Jianmin Tried
Ms. Zhang Yuehong was arrested by officers from the Liulinqiao Police Station on December 7, 2019. She is due to be tried by the Ci County Court on August 21, 2020.
Ms. Zhao Meihua was arrested by officers from the Fuxing District Criminal Police Team and the Tieludayuan Police Station on December 4, 2019. She is due to be tried by the Ci Court on the afternoon of August 26, 2020.
Mr. Liu Jianmin, who worked at odd jobs in Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province, was arrested by officers from the Doumen District Domestic Security Division and the 610 Office in Zhuhai City on November 1, 2019. He was taken to the police station, and later was officially placed under arrest. Mr. Liu was tried by the Donmen Court on June 29, 2020. He is still being detained.
28. [Handan City, Hebei Province] Mr. Liu Zhiguo Detained
Mr. Liu Zhiguo, in his late 70s, from Lijiatuan Town, Cheng’an County, was reported to the police by a villager on August 1, 2020, for distributing Falun Gong materials. He was arrested by Zhang Yuchuan, director of the township police station.
Zhang tried to force him to write a guarantee statement renouncing Falun Gong. Mr. Liu refused. Zhang threatened to sentence him to prison, have his son’s salary withheld, and his grandson would also be implicated if he didn't write it.
Mr. Liu’s family cooperated with the police and tried to force Mr. Liu to write the statement. Mr. Liu left home for a few days.
He was arrested by the county police when he just got back home on August 4. The police confiscated a computer, printer, and Falun Dafa books. Mr. Liu was taken to a detention center.
