(Minghui.org) I was fortunate to read Zhuan Falun and attend Teacher's lecture seminar in 1997. I quit smoking, drinking, and other bad habits within a few months, and all my illnesses disappeared.
Remaining Steadfast in a Changing Environment
I became a local assistant in late 1998. Local practitioners studied the Fa, shared experiences, and practiced the exercises together. We also went to rural areas to let others know about Falun Dafa. The practitioners in our area improved very quickly.
The environment suddenly changed in 1999 however, when Jiang Zemin started to persecute Falun Dafa. I was arrested on July 20, 1999 and jailed for two weeks. I was arrested several times. In 2005 I was jailed for over half a year. They rescinded my membership to the Chinese Communist Party after I refused to give up my belief in Dafa, and I was then detained for three years in a forced labor camp.
After being released, I saw that the local truth-clarification materials production centers had been destroyed. Dafa materials were scarce and mostly provided by practitioners from out of town. I discussed it with fellow practitioners. We decided to follow Master’s requirement and establish a local materials production center. This resolved the problem of meeting our local needs.
Over the next year, I set up a materials production center at my family home. A few years later, I was arrested and put in a forced labor camp for two years for making Dafa pamphlets.
Overcoming Persecution in the Labor Camp by Trusting Teacher and Dafa
I was detained in the forced labor camp for a total of five years. I was savagely tortured many times there. I was beaten, hung up by my handcuffed wrists, and forced to stand for 13 hours a day. I was cuffed to the legs of the bed in a position where I could not sit or lie. I was put in solitary confinement multiple times, with the longest duration being four months.
They tried to force me to “reform” many times, but I held firm to my belief in Dafa. They then took me to a hospital and put me in a nice room. Two guards took turns monitoring me. Two days later, one of them asked me to write my will, telling me that I was about to die. I said I would not die under Master’s protection.
I believed that the 610 Office and the forced labor camp wanted to harm me. But I knew that the only way to overcome the tribulation was to not be affected, and trust Master and Dafa. I was not afraid, and recited the Fa and sent forth righteous thoughts as usual. I felt more steadfast when I recited:
“Our Falun Dafa will protect students from deviating. How does it protect you? If you are a true cultivator, our Falun will safeguard you. I am rooted in the universe. If anyone could harm you, he or she would be able to harm me. Put simply, that person would be able to harm this universe.” (Lecture One, Zhuan Falun)
A few days later, some directors and captains at the forced labor camp and the president of the hospital had a meeting. I kept sending forth righteous thoughts and recited the Fa. They injected a small vial of drugs into me. A few minutes later my whole body hurt. I asked Master to save me, and the pain disappeared right away. I continued to recite the Fa and send righteous thoughts throughout the night.
They injected two large bottles of liquid into me the next morning. I explained the truth about Falun Dafa to the captain and told him that I would have been killed if I was not a practitioner. They discharged me from the hospital that afternoon.
Clarifying the Truth to Save People in the Labor Camp
Practitioners were forbidden to talk among themselves or with other detainees in the labor camp. We were not allowed to have paper or pens. I used blood to write on toilet paper, and I went on a hunger strike for four months when they treated me badly.
I was allowed to write after my strongest protest. I wrote many essays of thousands of words. The forced labor camp studied them for several days and asked different teams in the camp to read them. Afterwards, some officials and guards asked me questions to learn more about Falun Dafa.
Through practitioners’ repeatedly clarifying the truth about Falun Dafa to those in the labor camp, the guards became gentler toward practitioners. They resisted pressure from the 610 Office and the Forced Labor Bureau to lengthen practitioners’ detention. Sometimes they even refused to accept practitioners.
After I was detained in the forced labor camp for over a year, I asked Master, “Master, I cannot do much here now. I want to go home and study the Fa.”
I was released ten days later. Such an early release for a practitioner who did not “reform” was very unusual at that time.
Repaying the Materials Centers’ Financial Loss and Forming a New Center
The authorities destroyed some large materials centers in our area when I was in detention. I figured that our materials production centers lost about 20,000 yuan as a result. I felt that I needed to take responsibility for the loss. However, I did not have a job, nor any savings. I thus wondered how I was going to repay it.
I went to the head office of my previous employer and clarified the truth to them about Dafa. They were sympathetic and helped me to retire. Thus, I was paid 1,200 yuan per month. I repaid the loss in a few years. My retirement pension has now increased. I donate over 10,000 yuan each year to the information centers. From this incident, I learned that we should keep the information centers small and not put large amounts of capital into them.
The remaining small production centers had very limited production capability. We had a population in our area of a few million people, so we needed a large amount of informational materials. I therefore decided to take action on my own and formed an information center at home.
Since all the local information centers produced only paper materials, I decided to focus on making video discs. We initially produced limited quantities due to our lack of skills. With the help of fellow practitioners, we were able to make 40,000 copies in the second year. We later increased our production to over 300 copies per day. Not only were we able to meet our own needs for these materials, but we were able to provide materials to practitioners in other cities.
Practitioners in China filed complaints against Jiang Zemin to the supreme court and the supreme procurator in 2015. As a result, many practitioners were arrested. Most of the materials and printing equipment in the home production centers were moved away, and the production centers stopped operating. Yet we had a pressing need to print calendars.
Master said,
“…just by having your heart unaffected you will be able to handle all situations.” (“Eliminate Your Last Attachment(s),” Essentials for Further Advancement II)
So I strengthened my Fa study and persisted in sending forth righteous thoughts continuously for more than three hours every day. I felt I should not stop printing, nor should I relocate the printer. With Master’s protection, the evil did not come to my home. I was able to maintain normal production at my home materials center and print the calendars. I also persuaded other practitioners to restore their operations. We were thereby able to produce the proper amount of calendars for the new year.
This year, with the help of my family members who are practitioners and a few other practitioners, my family-run information center made nearly 40,000 copies of video discs, nearly 10,000 calendars, and nearly 20,000 pamphlets.
Important Message Created with Unused Video Discs to Save People During the Pandemic
Since making DVDs for Shen Yun in China stopped, the materials production centers had many unused video discs. The neighborhood communities were all under quarantine due to the pandemic, and it was difficult for us to clarify the truth about Dafa to people face to face. I collected the unused discs, strung them together, and formed a display of “Falun Dafa is Good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is Good.” The streets have been less crowded during the pandemic, and it has been safer for practitioners to hang such displays. We made effective use of the old discs.
Under Master’s protection, my home information center has operated smoothly during the past ten years. I will continue to be diligent and do the three things well.
