(Minghui.org) A Shulan City, Jilin Province, resident who credits Falun Gong for curing her cancer was recently sentenced to 5.5 years.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is an ancient spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Wang Yaqin was diagnosed with lung cancer in August 2004. She sold her house and borrowed a lot of money to pay for the medical expenses. After five chemotherapy sessions, however, her cancer still metastasized. She took up Falun Gong at the recommendation of a neighbor and recovered in a month.
Because of her raising awareness about the persecution of Falun Gong, Ms. Wang was arrested on July 15, 2020, and has been detained at Jilin City Detention Center since. She went through two court hearings in September and October, before being convicted around January 2021.
In order to force Ms. Wang to give up Falun Gong, the authorities threatened to fire her son from his job at the local transportation department. His salary has now been suspended for two months and counting.
