(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 15 cities or counties in 9 provinces, where at least 24 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Liaoyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Liu Aihua Sentenced to Three Years in Prison

Ms. Liu Aihua and another practitioner Song were followed and arrested by the police in Liaoyang City on January 12, 2021. Ms. Liu was detained in the Liaoyang City Detention Center. Her home was ransacked.

Ms. Liu was placed under official arrest on January 29, 2021. She was tried in the Dengta City Court on August 11, 2021, after she was detained for more than seven months. Ms. Liu’s second hearing was held in the Dengta City Court at 9 a.m. on September 6, 2021. She was sentenced to three years in prison. Practitioner Song was sentenced to two years in prison. Ms. Liu is appealing her verdict.

During Ms. Liu’s detention, her younger brother passed away. Her family members were threatened and forced to cooperate with the investigation.

2. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Ms. Xu Fengrong Arrested and Detained

Ms. Xu Fengrong, a new practitioner, lives in the Lugang Community. Other practitioners lost contact with her around mid-March 2021. It was recently learned that she’d been arrested at home in mid-March 2021 and is being held in the No.1 Detention Center of Tangshan City.

3. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Mr. Lu Guokun’s Situation Unknown

Mr. Lu Guokun was arrested in June 2020 for distributing truth clarifying materials in the Nanshan District. He has been held in the Nansha Detention Center. His family is not allowed to visit him.

Mr. Lu’s family deposited 200 or 300 yuan each month for him to purchase daily necessities while he is detained. In August 2021, after they didn’t hear anything from him since May 2021, they called the detention center to ask about him. They were told that they could not disclose his situation but Mr. Lu would write them a letter and explain. More than a month passed, but Mr. Lu’s family still has not heard from him.

4. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Xu Jianqun Arrested

Xu Jianqun (gender unknown) was reported to the police on Fangcao East Street for distributing information on how to bypass Internet censorship and was arrested on September 17, 2021. Xu’s home was ransacked and personal belongings including Falun Gong books and a photo of Falun Gong’s founder were confiscated. Xu was released on bail by the Gaoxin District Police Department pending trial.

5. [Xianning City, Hubei Province] Ms. Yang Xiaohua Harassed Repeatedly

Ms. Yang Xiaohua from Wenquan Village was harassed five times in September 2021. She was harassed at home as well as in her food store. The people involved in harassing her are from Wenquan Village, the local community and police station and the Xianning City Police Department. They searched, looking for anything related to Falun Gong.

6. [Baoji City, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Zhang Caixia Detained

Ms. Zhang Caixia was arrested in the People’s Hospital where she worked at 10 a.m. on August 26, 2021. Zhang Jianjun and Qi Liehui, heads of the Wuxing Village Party Committee, and officers from the Baoping Road Police Station took Ms. Zhang to the Ailun Hostel in Erdaogou. She was detained there for six days and then transferred to the No.4 People’s Hospital (a psychiatric hospital). Ms. Zhang was subjected to brainwashing and was pressured to sign the three statements. She was detained for over a month and released on September 30, 2021.

7. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Mr. Wu Jiqiang Arrested

Mr. Wu Jiqiang was reported to the police for talking to people about Falun Gong and arrested at 10:30 a.m. on September 1, 2021. He was taken to the Xinhua Road Police Station and searched. His truth clarifying materials were taken away. He was interrogated by Kuiwen District Police Department officers but he did not cooperate.

Mr. Wu was taken to the No.2 People’s Hospital to have a nucleic acid test, a physical exam, and to have blood samples taken. His home was ransacked. His Falun Gong books and materials were confiscated. Mr. Wu was released at 6 p.m. that evening.

Two officers from the Kuiwen District Police Department went to his home at 9:30 a.m. on September 29, 2021. When his family member refused to open the door, the officers threatened to break the lock.

8. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Mr. Qian Yuzhong Under Residential Surveillance

Mr. Qian Yuzhong from Xingtang County was reported to the police for distributing Falun Gong materials in a community. He was arrested by Gu Yunlei, the head of the police department, on July 9, 2021. He was held in the Xingtang Detention Center. Mr. Qian was taken to the Xingtang County Chinese Medicine Hospital on August 21, 2021, and released on August 28, 2021. He was placed under residential surveillance.

9. [Panjin City, Liaoning Province] 83-year-old Mr. Zhou Shaotang on Trial

Mr. Zhou Shaotang, 83, from Dongguo Town, Panshan County, was taken by his family members to be tried on September 28, 2021. He was in a wheelchair and passed out in the courtroom. A doctor took his blood pressure, which was very high. He was taken to a hospital. He woke up in the hospital and was allowed to go home after he was examined.

10. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Song Caibao Arrested

Song Caibao (gender unknown) from the Pulandian District was arrested at home by officers from the Nanshan Police Station around 3 p.m. on October 1, 2021. Song was taken to the Dalian City Detention Center.

11. [Qixia City, Shandong Province] Ms. Qiao Ruirong Harassed

Several officers from the Cuiping Police Station went to Ms. Qiao Ruirong’s home on the morning of October 1, 2021. They told Ms. Qiao to go to the police station, which she refused to do. She did not allow them to enter her home.

12. [Nanbu County, Sichuan Province] Ms. Leng Tingfeng Arrested

Ms. Leng Tingfeng, in her 60s, was arrested on September 13, 2021. It was learned that she had been reported for distributing truth clarifying materials and was found by the police via surveillance cameras.

13. [Jixi City, Heilongjiang Province] Four Practitioners Arrested and Detained

Mr. Wu Baoku from the Didao District was arrested on August 9, 2021. Ms. Liu Huanying was arrested on August 11, 2021. Their arrests were arranged by Jin Hui, head of the Didao District Domestic Security Division, who was angry because his acts of persecution had appeared online. Both practitioners were detained for eight days.

Mr. Wu was arrested at home again by Jin Hui and other officers on September 15, 2021. His home was ransacked. That day, they also arrested Mr. Chen Weiquan and his wife Ms. Pan Xihua and ransacked their home. They also attempted to arrest Ms. Liu Huanying but were not successful. Ms. Liu now has to stay away from home.

Mr. Wu Baoku and Mr. Chen Weiquan and his wife Ms. Pan Xihuan are all being held in the Jixi City Detention Center.

14. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Mr. Zhan Guangmin Arrested

Mr. Zhan Guangmin, who is over 80, from the Lichang District was arrested by officers from the Fushan Road Police Station in the Licang District on June 21, 2021. His home was ransacked. His personal belongings were confiscated including his Falun Gong books, a photo of Falun Gong’s founder, his address book, cards, and other items. He was released the next day.

15. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Ai Li Arrested

Ms. Ai Li from the Wuchang District was arrested for distributing truth clarifying materials in the Shuiguo Lake Residential Sub-district on September 28, 2021

16. [Qixia City, Shandong Province] Ms. Gao Weili Arrested

When Ms. Gao Weili went to the Yangchu Town Market, she was followed by Yangchu Police Station officers on the morning of October 1, 2021. She was arrested and taken to the police station. She was threatened with 15 days of detention. The officers went to her home in the afternoon and confiscated two photos of Falun Gong’s founder. They also forced Ms. Gao’s family members to tear down their “Falun Dafa Is Good” and “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance Is Good” posters.

17. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Case Against Mr. Zhang Wei Submitted to the Court

All the employees at the Zhuoyu Photographic Equipment Store were arrested on May 12, 2021. Four practitioners are still detained, including Mr. Zhang Wei who is detained in the No.1 Detention Center of Tangshan City. The case against Mr. Zhang was submitted to the court.

Procurator Sun Mingyuan from the Lubei District Procuratorate went to meet Mr. Zhang in the detention center. Sun claimed that if Mr. Zhang admitted his “crime” and accepted the lawyer appointed by the court instead of the lawyer his family hired, he would suggest a term of one year in prison. Otherwise, it would be three years in prison. He left Mr. Zhang a written promise.
