Additional Persecution News from China – September 30, 2021 (25 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 20 cities or counties in 12 provinces, where at least 34 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Zhoukou City, Henan Province] 85-year-old Ms. Hu Keying Imprisoned

Ms. Hu Keying, 85, was taken to the Xinxiang Women’s Prison on July 9, 2021.

Ms. Hu was sentenced to five years in prison by the Chuanhui District Court in 2017 for distributing truth clarifying materials. The court decided to send her to prison in June 2021. One month later, she was taken to the Xinxiang Women’s Prison and will be detained there until March 2023.

2. [Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Hong Youfeng Missing

Ms. Hong Youfeng, in her 70s from Funing County, was missing on September 25, 2021. Her daughter Ms. Li Yali, a practitioner, went to the local police station and local neighborhood committee to look for her mother. They did not tell her much but said that Ms. Hong might be in a brainwashing center. Her whereabouts are still unknown.

3. [Deyang City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Meng Hualong Arrested and Ms. Li Diaoxiu Harassed

Mr. Meng Hualong, 72, from Jingyang District was arrested on September 27, 2021. His home was ransacked. It is said that over 1000 yuan in paper bills imprinted with facts about Falun Gong were confiscated.

Ms. Li Diaoxiu was harassed at home by officers in Jingyang District on September 7, 2021. Two days later, two staff members from the Wenmiao Community went to her home again and pressured her to sign a guarantee statement, which she refused to do.

Ms. Li Diaoxiu’s husband Mr. Cao Weixiang has been hospitalized for three and a half years. He is not able to take care of himself and has to be looked after by hospital staff. Ms. Li went to the hospital on September 27, 2021 to pay bills and learned that two community staff members came to talk to her husband in the hospital. They forcibly held Ms. Li’s husband’s hand and pressed his fingerprints on a document.

4. [Dingxing County, Hebei Province] Ms. Ma Shuhong Arrested

Ms. Ma Shuhong from the Nanguan Village was arrested by special police officers in Dingxing County at around 8 a.m., September 28, 2021 for distributing truth clarifying materials.

5. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Yang Li and Her Mother-in-law Ms. Zhao Shanying Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Yang Li was sentenced to one year in prison by the Chaoyang District Court on September 29, 2021. Her mother-in-law Ms. Zhao Shanying was sentenced to one year and six months in prison. They are currently detained in the No.4 Detention Center of Changchun City.

6. [Shanghai] Ms. Tan Xiufang Arrested

Ms. Tan Xiufang, 36, is from Xiantao City, Hubei Province and works in Shanghai. She was arrested at her home in Shanghai around 10 p.m. on September 15, 2021. She is currently detained in the Minhang District Detention Center.

7. [Kunming City, Yunnan Province] Ms. Zhang Qin Arrested

Ms. Zhang Qin from Kunming City, around 50, was reported to police for distributing truth-clarifying materials in Huize County and was arrested by officers in Huize County on September 26, 2021. Her home was ransacked and numerous truth clarifying materials were confiscated.

8. [Shanghai] Ms. Fan Wanxia and Ms. Wang Qiuju Under Residential Surveillance

Ms. Fan Wanxia and Ms. Wang Qiuju have been monitored 24 hours per day by police officers from the Liuxing Police Station since September 28, 2021. Their lives have been severely disrupted.

9. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Guo Shuyan Harassed

Ms. Guo Shuyan’s husband received multiple calls from leaders in the Yushu Vocational Education Center at the end of September 2021. He was pressured to sign a guarantee statement on behalf of Ms. Guo. He was told this was ordered by the new director of the Political and Legal Affairs Committee. He was threatened and told that he would be suspended from work if he refused to sign it. He did not cooperate.

10. [Hengshan County, Hunan Province] Ms. Yang Daan Arrested

Ms. Yang Daan’s husband received a call from the Chengguan Police Station on the morning of July 23, 2021. He was pressured to go to the police station to sign a guarantee statement on behalf of his wife.

11. [Hengshan County, Hunan Province] Ms. Kuang Zhengxiang Harassed

Ms. Kuang Zhengxiang was harassed at home by five people from the Changjiang Police Station and the Shiqiao Community on the afternoon of September 7, 2021. They asked whether Ms. Kuang still practiced Falun Gong. She said yes. When Chen Shuping from the community office removed the photo of Falun Gong’s founder from the wall, Ms. Kuang tried to get it back. She was held by the people and was forced to press her fingerprints on three documents they prepared.

12. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Liu Jinrong Harassed

Ms. Liu Jinrong received a call from Liu Jin in the No. 1 Police Station of Zhangqiu District on September 29, 2021. She was asked whether she still practiced Falun Gong. The officer also wanted to meet with her, which she refused. Thirty minutes after she hung up the phone, three officers wearing body cameras knocked on her door. Ms. Liu asked her husband to write down their names and ID numbers.

13. [Zhangwu County, Liaoning Province] Three Practitioners Harassed

Ms. Bai Xiqin, Ms. Zhang Yanjun and Ms. Liu Shuqin live in Baishantu Village, Xiliu Township. They were harassed at home by village official Shang Shuxiang and a township government official on August 10, 2021. The practitioners were photographed.

14. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Li Yueying Arrested

Ms. Li Yueying from Zhangqiu District was arrested in the Lujia Market around 9 a.m. on September 29, 2021.

15. [Yichang City, Hubei Province] Ms. Xiang Yan Taken to Brainwashing Center

Ms. Xiang Yan was taken to the so-called “Care Home” in Industry Park in the Wujiagang District on September 14, 2021 for refusing to sign a guarantee statement during the Zero-out Campaign. Ma Yuhong, director of the (slanderous term deleted) Office in the Xiling District Political and Legal Affairs Committee, and Zhao, secretary of the College Neighborhood Committee, were involved in persecuting Ms. Xiang.

16. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Yu Shufen Detained

Ms. Yu Shufen was deceived at home by officers from the Changle District Police Department, who said they would take her to have a physical examination on the morning of September 28, 2021. She was then taken to the Changyi Detention Center.

17. [Mei County, Guangdong Province] Second Hearing Against Ms. He Qingxiang and Mr. Zeng Fanjie

The first trial against Ms. He Qingxiang and Mr. Zeng Fanjie was held in the Mei County Court at 9:30 a.m. on July 20, 2021.

The second hearing was held at 3:30 p.m. on September 23, 2021, and only lasted 20 minutes. Mr. Zeng’s family members attended the hearing. Their defense lawyers defended their innocence in court and questioned the lack of evidence and grounds to charge the practitioners.

18. [Xiping County, Henan Province] Ms. Cao Ximei Detained

Ms. Cao Ximei from Songji Township was arrested by officers from the Songji Township Police Station in March or April 2021. She is currently detained in the Zhumadian City Detention Center.

19. [Ju County, Shandong Province] Ms. Sun Shifen Harassed

Three officers from the Guozhuang Police Station went to Ms. Sun Shifen’s home on September 27, 2021. They tore down posters with the words, “Falun Dafa is Good” and “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is Good” and attempted to confiscate Ms. Sun’s exercise music card. They told her to go to the police station to sign a document. The officers also asked about her children.

20. [Yongkang City, Zhejiang Province] Ms. Zheng Yueqing Officially Arrested

Ms. Zheng Yueqing lives in the Taiping New Village, Tangxian Town. She was arrested by officers from the Longshan Police Station on June 16, 2021 for distributing truth clarifying materials. She is currently detained in the Yongkang City Detention Center and has been placed under official arrest.

Ms. Zheng has a disabled son at home who is in need of care. Her husband has to work and cannot stay home during the day to take care of their son.

21. [Qixia City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhang Guiling Arrested

Ms. Zhang Guiling was arrested by police officers in Qixia City on the morning of September 29, 2021.

22. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wang Jiemei Faces Trial

Ms. Wang Jiemei will be tried by the Economic and Technological Development Zone Court at 9 a.m. on October 11, 2021. The trial will be held in the No.1 Detention Center of Shenyang City.

23. [Baishan City, Jilin Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Three practitioners from Fusong County were arrested by officers from the Wanliang Town Police Station for distributing desk calendars which had information about Falun Gong on the morning of September 28, 2021. They are Zhao Lianping, Ji and Yu. Their homes were ransacked. Practitioners Ji and Yu were directly taken to the Baishan City Detention Center. Zhao Lianping was released on bail pending trial that evening.

24. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Zhou Ailing Arrested

Ms. Zhou Ailing, 53, was arrested on September 17, 2021. Her current whereabouts are unknown.

25. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Cui Yuqiu and Ms. Yu Aili Awaiting Verdicts

Ms. Cui Yuqiu and Ms. Yu Aili were arrested on July 13 and July 15, 2020, respectively. They were tried through a video conference at the Changchun City No.4 Detention Center by the Chaoyang District Court on December 11, 2020. Four other practitioners were tried at the same time and none of their families were informed of the court session. Each hearing lasted only ten minutes. The practitioners are still awaiting verdicts at the time of this writing.
