(Minghui.org) After a year of incommunicado detention, an elementary school teacher in Suining City, Sichuan Province was secretly sentenced to three years for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Tang Suqiong, 47, was arrested at home on September 22, 2020, by local police and residential committee staff members. The police confiscated her Falun Gong books, computer, printer and many other personal belongings. She was briefly held at the Pengxi County Lockup and was released on the same day when her family went there to demand her release.
Ms. Tang was arrested again on October 5 after being reported by a student’s parents for talking to them about Falun Gong. She was later sentenced to one year in prison and ordered to serve time out of prison.
She went missing one more time on November 23, 2020. Fearing possible implication because of her faith, her husband divorced her shortly after.
After being kept in the dark of her whereabouts for a year, Ms. Tang’s brother learned on October 20, 2021 that she was held at the Yongxing Detention Center. He went there to look for her, only to be told that she had been transferred to the Sichuan Province Women’s Prison in Chengdu City a month earlier to serve a three-year term.
