(Minghui.org) A Beijing resident is appealing against a four-year verdict for her faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Hou Yuxin was arrested by plainclothes officers as soon as she left home on August 12, 2020. The police confiscated her two computers, Falun Gong books and other belongings. She was held at the Pingxifu Police Station and released two days later.
In early 2021, Ms. Hou received a call from the police and was asked to go to their office to fill out some paperwork regarding her bail condition. She went to the police station on February 21, only to be arrested right away and taken to the Changping District Detention Center on the next day.
Her family received the notice of the approval of her arrest on February 24, issued by Beijing City Procuratorate and Beijing City Police Department. It was dated on February 18, three days before her arrest.
The Changping District Court held a virtual hearing of Ms. Hou’s case on July 30. Her family wrote to the presiding judge afterwards several times to seek justice for her, but the judge refused to accept their letters.
Ms. Hou’s family was notified on November 8 that she was sentenced to four years on November 4. She has appealed with the Beijing City No.1 Intermediate Court.
