(Minghui.org) I’m a Western practitioner who has been cultivating for almost 20 years. Dafa has brought my family and me many benefits, too many to count.
The cultivation journey has also given my fellow cultivators and me opportunities to improve, especially after a national broadcast in my country of a slanderous program about Falun Gong. Our group held many experience-sharing meetings online and reflected on our cultivation shortcomings and how to save sentient beings better.
As cultivators, nothing happens by accident; therefore, the programming incident showed me that I had gaps in my cultivation. The main issue was that I was not diligent enough with clarifying the truth and harbored too many human attachments. I also realized that I had become more and more lax in cultivation as the years wore on. I did not take small things seriously and often sought comfort and ease.
Following the incident, I began losing my eyesight. Migraine headaches plagued me daily, and many aliments popped up; it was challenging to hold up. Besides my eyesight becoming blurry with double vision, I experienced dizziness for two months, as well as nausea, trouble reading, unsteadiness with my balance, anxiety, and neck and shoulder pain.
I knew this was not the right state for a Falun Dafa practitioner, so my husband and I decided to step up our cultivation. We analyzed ourselves and identified many attachments. At first, we were hesitant to let them go, but we felt it was the only way to defeat the old forces’ arrangement.
Some of the primary attachments were prioritizing personal cultivation over saving sentient beings, seeking comfort, jealousy, criticizing others, being attached to one’s own opinion, and having too many preferences.
Besides removing some big and smaller attachments, we also studied the Fa for a longer time, set up a daily practice site, arranged extra times to send righteous thoughts, and became more active in truth-clarification.
Since shedding some of these attachments, the severe test of double vision has subsided, but it was an agonizing few months, and we weren’t able to save many people during that time.
This test allowed me to strengthen my righteous thoughts and helped me to see what areas I was solid in and which areas I wasn’t. It was also a precious opportunity for reflection. Thank you, Master. I’m most grateful.
