Additional Persecution News from China – April 2, 2021 (25 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 21 cities or counties in 11 provinces, where at least 45 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Xichang City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Fan Yinzhi Arrested and Detained

Ms. Fan Yinzhi from Xichang City was arrested by officers from Yongshan County in Yunnan Province around October 2020. She has been detained for more than half a year. Her current situation is unknown.

2. [Maoming City, Guangdong Province] Mr. Zhou Huajian Faces Trial

Mr. Zhou Huajian will be tried in the Maonan District Court on the morning of April 6, 2021.

3. [Suining City, Sichuan Province] Five Practitioners Arrested 

Five practitioners including Ms. Pu Zexiu, Chen Weixing (gender unknown), Ms. Yang Shengzhen, Ms. Li Yulian, and Chen Xiurong (gender unknown), were arrested near the Red Cross Hospital by officers from the Nanjinqiao Police Station on March 31, 2021. Their homes were ransacked. The personal property including Dafa books, photos of Falun Gong's founder, and media players were taken away. 

Ms. Pu Zexiu and Chen Weixing were released at 7 p.m. that evening. Ms. Yang Shengzhen, Ms. Li Yulian, and Chen Xiurong had samples of their blood drawn. Ms. Yang Shengzhen and Ms. Li Yulian were released around 9 p.m. that evening. Chen Xiurong was taken to the Yongxing Detention House.

4. [Taihe County, Anhui Province] Gao Su Arrested 

Gao Su (gender unknown) was intercepted by the county police around March 23, 2021, when driving on the road and was taken to a brainwashing center. Gao’s home was ransacked.

5. [Hailin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Sun Yanhua and Ms. Gao Guilan Arrested and Detained

Ms. Sun Yanhua and Ms. Gao Guilan were arrested by police from the No. 2 Police Station on March 31, 2021. They were taken to the Hailin Detention Center to be detained for 15 days. 

6. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Mr. Li Xianghong Arrested

Mr. Li Xianghong was recently arrested by plainclothes police when he talked to people about Falun Gong during the Chujia Festival.

7. [Chongqing] Mr. Li Shuyu Arrested

Mr. Li Shuyu from Chongqing was arrested at home by police from Wujiang County, Jiangsu Province on March 17, 2021. He was taken to the Nanping Police Station in Nan’an District for interrogation. His home was ransacked. His personal property including an entire set of Dafa books, the photo of Falun Gong's founder, desk calendars, and media players was taken away. He was released on March 18, 2020. 

8. [Dezhou City, Shandong Province] Three Practitioners Harassed

Officers from the Changzhuang Police Station came to Ms. Liu Ling’s home at the end of February or early March 2021. They asked to see her husband's ID and took a photo of it. 

Ms. Wang Jinzhen’s son was harassed at home by officers from the Changzhuang Police Station in early March 2021. They questioned him about his mother. More than 10 days later, they came back and harassed her son again. 

Ms. Shan Xiufang was harassed at her barbershop by officers from the Cahngzhuang Police Station in mid-March 2021. They took some photos. 

9. [Yangxin County, Hubei Province] Ms. Hu Qian Harassed

Ms. Hu Qian received a harassment call from Yan Rubing, the village Communist Party secretary on March 30, 2021. Yan demanded that Ms. Hu change her household registration address and threatened her that she would be arrested if she refused.

10. [Meishan City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Dou Bihua Arrested

Ms. Dou Bihua has been missing for more than three months. It was learned that she was arrested by officers from the Yongshou Police Station. Her current situation is unknown.

11. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Yu Yang Arrested and Detained

Yu Yang (gender unknown) was about to take a train for a business trip on the morning of March 30, 2021. After checking the ticket on the Harbin High-speed Railway Station, the ticket inspector demanded that Yu slander the founder of Falun Gong otherwise Yu’s bag would be searched. Money containing truth-clarifying words were found in Yu’s bag and Yu was arrested. Yu’s home was ransacked. Yu is now detained in the No.2 Detention Center. 

12. [Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Zhou Xiaolan Arrested

Ms. Zhou Xiaolan was arrested by officers for distributing truth-clarifying materials and talking to people about Falun Gong on Chengbei Street. 

Ms. Yan Xiaodong was arrested by officers from the Nanjinqiao Police Station on the same day for talking to people about Falun Gong at Chengnanquhe Market. 

Both practitioners are detained in the Yongxing Detention House.

14. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Four Practitioners Harassed

Three people from Juntun Town, Xindu District came to the home of Ms. Yang Congqing’s parent on March 18, 2021. They checked around and took photos with their cellphones. A few days later, five other people came again to inquire about Ms. Yang. 

Yang Jianbo, community director in Mengyang Town, Pengzhou City, and a plainclothes officer came to Ms. Zeng Qingfang’s home on March 23, 2021. They checked around and took photos with their cellphones. They also harassed Ms. Liu Yuqi at her home the same day. 

Four people from Jinsha Community, Jiuchi Town, Pengzhou City came to Mr. Zhou Houchun’s home on the morning of March 23, 2021. Mr. Zhou used to practice Falun Gong and had been to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. These people claimed that Mr. Zhou needed to sign the paper otherwise his children's schooling would be jeopardized or they would not be able to join the army in the future. Mr. Zhou refused. They said that they would return. 

15. [Tongliao City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region] Ms. Hou Yunxia Arrested

Ms. Hou Yunxia was arrested at home on March 24, 2021, for distributing truth-clarifying materials in a parking lot. 

16. [Dehui City, Jilin Province] Ms. Chen Juan Harassed

Ms. Chen Juan was harassed at home by Zhang Fugui, director of Dehui Politic and Legal Affairs Committee. She was told to sign the guarantee statement, which she refused. Ms. Chen then received a call from the police department that afternoon. She was threatened and told that the case against her would be filed to the Procuratorate. 

17. [Beijing] Ms. Miao Bojun Threatened with Detention

Ms. Miao Bojun, 52, received a call from Wang Ping from the Gaobeidian Police Station on March 30, 2021. Ms. Miao was told to come to the police station and she would be detained for 14 days. 

18. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Li Yanxia Missing

Ms. Li Yanxia, 63, went out one day in January 2021 and has never returned. Her current whereabouts are unknown.

19. [Laizhou City, Shandong Province] Surveillance Cameras Installed Outside of Ms. Chi Chunling's and Mr. Pan Yujun's Homes

Yuan Qiming, the Communist Party secretary in Beizhuang Village, Tushan Town, instructed village official Yuan Meiqiang to install surveillance cameras outside of Ms. Chi Chunling’s home and Mr. Pan Yujun’s homes. Two cameras were also installed at both ends of the alley near Mr. Pan Yujun’s home.

20. [Tianjin] Ms. Gong Baoyue Arrested and Persecuted

Ms. Gong Baoyue, 65, was arrested at home by five people from the local community and the Chentangzhuang Police Station on March 24, 2021. Someone reported her when she distributed truth-clarifying materials in March 2020. Her home was ransacked and she was detained for 15 days.

Ms. Gong was taken to the Chentangzhuang Police Station. She was told to press her fingerprints on the three statements, which she refused. Zhu, head of the police station, started to beat her. He said that the cameras were turned off and no one would be held responsible if she was beaten to death. He punched Ms. Gong’s chest twelve times with his fist and also slapped her face twelve times. Then, he grabbed Ms. Gong’s neck, pulled it back, and twisted her arm to forcefully have her put her fingerprint on the papers (Ms. Gong’s arm is still bruised). Zhu then turned on the police video camera and demanded that Ms. Gong say that she would give up Falun Gong in front of the camera. When Ms. Gong refused, he dragged her to the river bank and threatened to throw her into the river. Ms. Gong didn’t know how to swim and gave in against her will.

21. [Huai’an County, Hebei Province] Mr. Liu Bei and Ms. Liang Xiurong Harassed

Mr. Liu Bei from Xinlongwan Village received a harassment call from a Dukoubao Township official in March 2021. He was told to sign the guarantee statement, which he refused. 

Tian Zhuyan, director of Bachigou Village of Dukoubao Township, came to the home of Ms. Liang Xiurong’s parent around noon of March 26, 2021. Tian used Ms. Liang’s mother’s phone to call her. Officers from the township police station pressured Ms. Liang to sign the guarantee statement in front of the camera. She said she was busy and refused. Tian used her mother's phone again to call Ms. Liang on March 30, 2021, and told her that the police wanted her cell phone number. Ms. Liang rejected the request. 

22. [Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Sun Yanhuan's Appeal Rejected

Ms. Sun Yanhuan, 62, was given a 4.5-year prison sentence on December 30, 2020, by the Xiangyang District Court. The Jiamusi Intermediate Court accepted her appeal on March 22, 2021, only to reject it six days later, on March 28. Due to a serious medical condition, Ms. Sun was denied admission by the prison and is now serving time at home.

23. [Chongqing] Mr. Cheng Defu Sentenced to 3.5 Years

Mr. Cheng Defu, 76, was recently sentenced to 3.5 years. He was arrested on March 7, 2020, for clarifying the facts about Falun Gong to the residential committee and agents of the 610 Office. He was later released on bail after the local detention center refused to admit him due to his poor health. The Nanchuan District Court held a pre-trial meeting on December 3 and tried him on January 13, 2021. He was taken back into custody and is now at the Dianjiang County Detention Center.

24. [Yinchuan City, Ningxia Province] Eight Practitioners Imprisoned

Eight practitioners, including Ms. Na Qin, Ms. Zhu Haiyan, Ms. Sun Fanghong, Ms. Jiang Chunmei, Ms. Sun Fanghui, Ms. Chen Bo, Ms. Xiao Yanzhi and Ms. Wang Xiuhua, were taken to the Ningxia Women's Prison in late March 2021 to serve time.

The eight practitioners were arrested on September 19, 2019, during a police sweep. They were tried by the Xixia District Court on July 27 and 28, 2020 and sentenced to 2 to 5.5 years on December 25, 2020. They appealed to the Yinchuan City Intermediate Court, but the judge ruled to uphold their sentences.

25. [Yinchuan City, Ningxia Province] Ms. Shan Jining Sentenced to Four Years

Ms. Shan Jining was arrested on August 22, 2020, for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong. The police submitted her case to the Xixia District Procuratorate on September 28, 2020. She was brought to the Xixia District Court on January 7, 2021, and was sentenced to four years with a 20,000 yuan fine on February 25.
