(Minghui.org) A Sanmenxia City, Henan Province resident was sentenced to four and half years after she finished a previous term for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Cai Yuhua was previously arrested in May 2015 for filing a criminal complaint against Jiang Zemin, the former head of the communist regime who ordered the persecution of Falun Gong. She was sentenced to the Xinxiang Women’s Prison and released in 2018. Despite her own weak health due to torture in prison, she took care of her bedridden father-in-law.
In June 2020, Ms. Cai filed a complaint against her wrongful sentence and also appealed against the social security office’s decision to suspend her pension so as to force her to pay back the fund she had received during her prison term. The officials claimed that a new policy ruled that no Falun Gong practitioners imprisoned for their faith should receive any retirement fund, although no Chinese labor law stipulates this.
Ms. Cai was arrested again in early August 2020 and held at the Sanmenxia City Detention Center. She was sentenced to 4.5 years around April 2021 and has been taken to the Xinxiang Women’s Prison.
In addition to her two prison terms, Ms. Cai was given a labor camp term before 2005, but the details were unknown at the time of writing.
