(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 23 cities or counties in 15 provinces, where at least 57 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Tianjin] Ms. Sun Yuping Dies Less Than a Month after Being Released from Prison

Ms. Sun Yuping from Yuelong Town, Ninghe County was sentenced to one year in prison in 2020. She died suddenly less than a month after she was released from prison.

Ms. Sun's sister is still detained in prison. Her other sister was sentenced to six months in prison and is now back home. Her ninth sister has left home to avoid the persecution. 

2. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Three Practitioners Tried in Court

Three practitioners from Lushun City including Ma Yan (gender unknown), Ms. Fu Lihua, and Wu Chun (gender unknown) were detained in the Dalian City Detention Center. They were tried in Ganjingzi District Court but have not received the verdict yet. 

3. [Shulan City, Jilin Province] Seven Practitioners Harassed or Arrested

Several officers came to Ms. Dang Baofen’s home and knocked on her door after 9 a.m., May 11, 2021. 

Ms. Li Yajie's home was raided on May 11, 2021. 

Ms. Wang Chunling and her husband Mr. An Yingqin (non-practitioner) were arrested by four officers on the afternoon of May 11, 2021. Their home was ransacked. Mr. An was released but Ms. Wang is still detained.

Three police officers arrested Ms. Zhang Yu’e who is in her 70s and lives in the Jishujifeng Residential Area on the morning of May 13, 2021. Ms. Sun Lingmin from Tiande Township was arrested that evening. 

The police have been to Ms. Guo Xiuqing’s home three times but they did not see her. They arrested her non-practitioner husband.

Mr. Jiang Jingfu in his 80s was harassed by police. One truth-clarifying material was confiscated.

4. [Jinchang City, Gansu Province] Ms. Lu Shulan's Home Raided

Ms. Lu Shulan lives in Yongning Village, Shuiyuan Town, Yongchang County. She was harassed by several people including Wang Farong and Zhao Mengxue from the Shuiyuan Town Government, and Xu Yuannian from the local police station. They searched her home and confiscated her Dafa books, the photo of Falun Gong's founder, and three media players. 

5. [Lanzhou City, Gansu Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Three practitioners were arrested in Ms. Qi Lijun’s home in the Chengguan District on May 13, 2021. The officers forcefully broke in and ransacked the place. Her Dafa books and 3600 yuan in cash were confiscated. 

Ms. Zhao Li from Xigu District, Ms. Jin Yijun from Qilihe District, and Ms. Qi Lijun, was taken to the Jiayuguan Police Station in the Chengguan District that night. Ms. Qi and Ms. Zhao were handcuffed to metal chairs. Ms. Jin was detained in another room. 

The three practitioners were taken to the hospital for nucleic acid tests the next day. Ms. Zhao and Ms. Jin were then sent to the Taoshuping Detention House in Chengguan District. Ms. Qi, over 70 years old, was released after midnight on May 15, 2021. 

6. [Mianyang City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Li Shuqin and Ms. Su Nan Persecuted

Ms. Su Nan and Ms. Li Shuqin were arrested by officers from the Science City Police Station on April 9, 2021. Ms. Li, 78, was released on bail pending trial that night. Ms. Su was taken to have a physical examination and was then taken to the Zitong County Detention Center on April 10, 2021. 

Ms. Su held a hunger strike after her arrest and demanded to be released. She had three infusions at the Zitong County Hospital. The hunger strike lasted more than 10 days. Since Ms. Su's life was in danger in the past when she served three years in prison, she was allowed to be released on bail pending trial on May 14, 2021. 

7. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Li Manxin and His Wife Ms. Sun Fenghua Arrested

Several practitioners were arrested in Kangping County on May 17, 2021. When the couple of Mr. Li Manxin and Ms. Sun Fenghua were arrested, their heads were covered with black covers. Ms. Jiang Xiufang was not arrested since she was not at home when the police came.

8. [Pengzhou City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Li Defang Harassed

Twelve officers from the Tongji Town Police Station, led by Yuan Wenping, secretary of the Huaguang Village Party Committee and Cai Tingting, the gridman, came to Ms. Li Defang’s home after 9 a.m. on May 8, 2021. Using a ladder, they jumped into Ms. Li’s backyard through the neighbor’s yard. They removed the NTDTV satellite antenna in her yard. When they tried to get into the bedroom, they damaged the window and the door. 

9. [Huludao City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Li Xiaoming Arrested

Ms. Li Xiaoming was arrested at her barbershop by officers from the Shuizhong Domestic Security Division including Liu Huanyu around 8 a.m. on May 18, 2021. The police claimed they were going to process the cases during the pandemic period. Ms. Li might be placed under 15-day detention. 

10. [Zhaoyuan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Dong Cuirong Harassed

Ms. Dong Cuirong, 74, was harassed at home by five men around 10 a.m. on May 17, 2021. They did not show their IDs and ransacked her home. They confiscated more than 30 Dafa books and a photo of Falun Gong's founder. They wanted to take the old lady away. When Ms. Gong had symptoms of a heart condition, they contacted her son and left as soon as her son came. 

11. [Jinchang City, Gansu Province] Ms. Xu Jing Harassed

Ms. Xu Jing was harassed at home by two men and a woman from the Changtaili Community around 7 p.m. on May 14, 2021. They told her, if she signed the three statements, she would get 20,000 yuan and would be granted subsistence allowance. Ms. Xu refused. 

12. [Changsha City, Hunan Province] Ms. Li Saimei Arrested and Detained

Several officers came to Ms. Li Saimei’s home around 11 p.m. on October 27, 2020, and tricked her to open the door by saying there was a water leak downstairs. They claimed they were from the Liuyang Police Department. They ransacked Ms. Li’s home and confiscated her computer, printer, Dafa books, etc. Ms. Li is currently detained in the No.4 Detention Center of Changsha City. 

13. [Chongqing] Ms. Dong Jiyun Arrested

It was recently learned that Ms. Dong Jiyun and her husband Mr. Li Dajiu (non-practitioner) were arrested together and detained in the Zhoujiaba Detention Center in Wanzhou District.

14. [Binchuan County, Yunnan Province] Ms. Liu Guohua Arrested

Ms. Liu Guohua was arrested recently by twelve people from the local community, the local police station, and the domestic security division. Her home was ransacked. 

15. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Five Practitioners Arrested or Harassed

Ms. Huo Yun and her husband Mr. Yang Wenguang were arrested at home by officers from the Tiedong Police Station in Longtan District around May 14 or 15, 2021. Their home was ransacked and their personal belongings including a computer and printer were confiscated. It is unknown where they were detained. 

Shen Delian (gender unknown) from New Jilin went to the home of Ms. Huo Yun and Mr. Yang Wenguang on May 16, 2021, and was arrested by the officers hidden there. Shen was detained in the Tiedong Police Station from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and was released on bail pending trial. During the interrogation, the officer hit Shen twice. Shen was told to go to the police station at 9 a.m. on May 18, 2021. The situation is unknown. 

Zhan Fegying (gender unknown) and Li Wenru (gender unknown) from New Jilin were said to have been harassed. 

16. [Yinchuan City, Ningxia Province] Mr. Liu Sizu Arrested

Mr. Liu Sizu was caught by surveillance cameras while distributing truth-clarifying flash drives in the Lida Electromechanical Market and was arrested at home by officers from the Xingqing District Police Department on May 10, 2021. He was taken to the Yingulu Police Station and was placed under 7-day detention. He was released from the detention house around 7:30 a.m. on May 18, 2021. 

17. [Shaoxing City, Zhejiang Province] Ms. Chen Hong Arrested and Detained

When Ms. Chen Hong visited her mother in Huaihua City, on March 4, 2021, twelve plainclothes officers rushed in after 9 a.m. and arrested her. The police also arrested all the employees in Ms. Chen’s beauty shop and Ms. Chen’s ex-husband. They were detained in the police station for 24 hours. Ms. Chen was directly put into prison to serve a 7-year sentence. 

Ms. Chen Hong was sentenced to seven years in prison in 2012 which was executed outside because her foot was fractured during a police beating. Later the police tried to put her in prison but could not locate her. She was placed on the wanted list with a reward of 50,000 yuan first and later up to 500,000 yuan. She was falsely accused of murder. 

18. [Zhaoyuan City, Shandong Province] Mr. Chen Shouchang Arrested 

Mr. Chen Shouchang lives in Dachenjia Village, Zhangxin Town. He was arrested by officers from the Lutou Town Police Station, Longkou City after 6 a.m. on May 13, 2021. Mr. Chen was arrested in December 2020 for talking to people about Falun Gong. He was released at that time because of the pandemic. Chen is currently detained in the Zhangjiagou Detention House in Longkou City. 

19. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Ms. Fan Shuyin Harassed

Ms. Fan Shuyin was harassed at the company’s dormitory by officer Cai Yongjun from the Yimian Police Station and a woman. They asked whether she still practiced Falun Gong.

20. [Shanghai] Ms. Zhou Changxia Harassed Constantly

Ms. Zhou Changxia lives in Beicai Town, Pudong New District, and has been harassed constantly during the CCP’s Zero-out Campaign. 

The related personnel from Beicai Town pressured Ms. Zhou to sign a guarantee statement, which she refused. 

Ms. Zhou’s hometown is in Xiyuan Community, Wucheng Town, Wuwei County, Anhui Province. Secretary Ni of Xiyuan Community Party Committee, came to harass Ms. Zhou several times and tried to pressure her to sign a guarantee statement, which she refused. Next, they went to the school where her daughter worked. They threatened her daughter with her job and her children’s schooling. Her daughter signed it on behalf of her mother under the pressure. 

Ms. Zhou went to her hometown and found Ni on April 26, 2021, to retrieve the statement that her daughter signed. Ni tried to send Ms. Zhou to a brainwashing center but failed.

21. [Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Zhou Yunjuan Arrested 

Ms. Zhou Yunjuan, 82, was arrested at the Yushan Park Bus Stop around 10 a.m. on April 21, 2021, for distributing two peace cards. She was taken to the Shanghu Vocation Village Police Station and was detained for 30 hours. Her home was ransacked. 

22. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Ms. Deng Deping Harassed

Two officers from the Dongyao Police Station went to the place where Ms. Deng Deping once lived, on the afternoon of May 18, 2021. Ms. Deng’s daughter-in-law told them that Ms. Deng no longer lived there. They then called Ms. Deng’s son and told him that they must go to his mother’s home for videotaping. 

23. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

It was learned that the practitioners Xue Caiping (gender unknown) and Ying Shidan (gender unknown) were arrested and detained in the Tianhe Detention Center in mid-to-late April 2021 

Zhao Ying (gender unknown) was arrested in early May 2021 and was detained in the Tianhe Detention Center. Zhao was released on May 14, 2021.

24. [Changsha City, Hunan Province] Ms. Deng Qinghui Arrested

Ms. Deng Qinghui who works as a barber was arrested at a barbershop by several officers from the Chaoyang Police Station on the afternoon of May 13, 2021. Her home was ransacked. 

25. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Ms. Yuan Li Arrested

Police officers from the Anguo District Domestic Security Division including Wu Shuai, broke into Ms. Yuan Li’s home on the evening of May 7, 2021. They did not show their IDs and ransacked her home. Ms. Yuan was arrested and was taken to the Baoding Detention Center the next day. She was bailed out with 11,000 yuan and returned home on May 15, 2021. 

26. [Dandong City, Liaoning Province] Four Practitioners Harassed

Two officers from the Bianfang Police Station in Jiuliancheng Town, Zhen’an District, harassed the practitioners in Hexidian Village and Shangjian Village on May 13 and 17, 2021. They are Ms. Dai Guimei, Liu Zhuyun, Ms. Zhang Chunmei, and Zhang Xinhua (gender unknown). The practitioners were pressured to sign the three statements, which they all refused.

27. [Zhengzhou City, Henan Province] Additional Information on Guo Baojun’s Death

The family members of Guo Baojun (gender unknown) went to the detention center on the afternoon of May 18, 2021. They were asked to fill the “Application for Rejection of Autopsy” and to write down the words “No objection to the cause of normal death”, which the family members refused. 

28. [Lanzhou City, Gansu Province] Dongfang Xu and Su Lanzhou Harassed

Dongfang Xu (gender unknown) and Su Lanzhou (gender unknown) live in Xizhan Sub-district, Qilihe District within the administration of the Xizhan Police Station. They were harassed during the Zero-out Campaign in August 2020. 

Dongfang works in Xizhan Branch, Railway Constriction Bank of Lanzhou City. Instructed by the municipal political and legal affairs committee, the local police station, local sub-district office, and local community office, the authorities in Dongfang’s work unit kept having a long talk with Dongfang to sign the four statements. Dongfang refused. 

Dongfang was then “detained” in the work unit for days and was not allowed to go home. The regular work was stopped. The daily tasks were to read or watch the brainwashing materials or videos. Physical punishments were also implemented. Dongfang was threatened with being sent to a brainwashing center and that the family members would be implicated. 

Su Lanzhou was followed, monitored, and harassed at home by the related authorities in the fall of 2020. Su was threatened with being sent to a brainwashing center if he/she refused to sign the four guarantee statements. Su had no other choice but to stay at a friends’ place for most of the second half of 2020. The situation resumed again after the Chinese New Year of 2021. In order to avoid further persecution, Su left home on April 20, 2021.

29. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Li Xiaomei and Ms. Wang Guiyan Harassed

Ms. Wang Guiyan in her 60s is a retiree from the Sa District Government. She was arrested and detained multiple times because of practicing Falun Gong. Just before the Chinese New Year in 2021, officer Lin Xiuhui from the Dong’an Police Department wrote a note and posted it on the door of Ms. Wang’s home, which told Ms. Wang to go to the police department. Ms. Wang did not go. Her son-in-law and the parent-in-law of her daughter received harassing calls. Later Ms. Wang also received harassing calls. Ms. Wang still did not cooperate. 

Ms. Li Xiaomei, around 60, used to work in the Daqing Passenger Transport Company. She received a harassing call from officer Lin Xiuhui in mid-April 2021. She was told to sign a guarantee statement but she could still practice at home. Ms. Li refused. Then, her eldest daughter received four harassing calls and was pressured to advise her mother. 

Ms. Li's eldest daughter received a harassing call again one day in late April 2021. Wang, secretary of Cuiting Sub-district Communist Committee, told her to advise her mother to sign the three statements. Wang threatened that she and her children would be implicated because of her mother. Ms. Li’s daughter refused. Wang also called Ms. Li’s younger brother multiple times in March 2021 and told him to advise his sister.
