(Minghui.org) Four Ningxia Province residents are facing prosecution for their faith in Falun Gong, after the police submitted their cases to the Litong District Procuratorate on May 26, 2021.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Mr. Ma Xuede, a 72-year-old retired watch factory engineer and his wife, 69-year-old Ms. Zheng Fengying, of Wuzhong City, were arrested in late February 2021 by officers from the Litong District Police Station. Their home was ransacked and they were put on criminal detention.
The couple was released in early March and put under house arrest. The Litong District Procuratorate approved their arrests in late March. They have since been taken back into custody and held at the Wuzhong City Detention Center.
The couple’s arrests came less than three years after they were released from previous prison terms for practicing Falun Gong. Since the onset of the persecution, Mr. Ma has served two years in a labor camp and two prison terms for 5 and 7.5 years, respectively. He was released from the 7.5-year term in early 2019. Ms. Zheng was given two years in a labor camp and two prison terms of 3 and 7 years, respectively. She was allowed to serve the 3-year term outside of prison, and was released in November 2018 from serving the 7-year term.
Ms. Yan Ying, a 58-year-old resident of Lingwu City, about 14 miles from Wuzhong, was arrested by officers of Litong District Police Station in late February 2021. The police also ransacked her home and put her on criminal detention. The Litong District Procuratorate approved her arrest in late March, and she is now being held at the Wuzhong City Detention Center.
Ms. Zheng Yarong, 44, from Wuzhong City, was arrested by officers of Litong District Police Station in early February 2021. She was first given 14 days of administrative detention and then criminal detention. The Litong District Procuratorate approved her arrest in late March and she is currently being detained at the Zhongwei City Detention Center, about 80 miles from Wuzhong.
