(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 12 cities or counties in 8 provinces, where at least 20 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Xinxiang City, Henan Province] Ms. Wu Sentenced

Ms. Wu (last name unknown) was sentenced to three years in prison for distributing desk calendars containing Falun Gong information in 2020.

2. [Chongqing] Ms. Yu Lan Faces Trial

Ms. Yu Lan is scheduled to be tried by the Jiangbei District Court at 9:30 a.m. on August 20, 2021.

3. [Guangzhong County, Hebei Province] Ms. Yan Xiuhong Faces Trial

Ms. Yan Xiuhong is scheduled to be tried by the Zhong County Court on the morning of August 20, 2021.

4. [Taizhou City, Zhejiang Province] Ms. Hu Yuping Arrested

Ms. Hu Yuping of Linquan County, Anhui Province, owns a store in Taizhou City. She was arrested in her store on August 13, 2021, by three people from her home town, officers Liu Tianwei and Xu Hao from the Miaocha Town Police Station and community agent Wang Fang. They brought her to the local police station in Taizhou, then to the Linquan County Brainwashing Center. Her family was told that she was taken back to Linquan County because she refused to transform.

5. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Huang Hongxiu Arrested

Ms. Huang Hongxiu was arrested by officers from the Tangchang Town Police Station on the morning of July 28, 2021, after someone reported her when she talked to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. Her home was ransacked.

6. [Handan City, Hebei Province] Ms. Wang Shuqin’s Ribs Broken During Beating

Ms. Wang Shuqin talked to a man in his 40s about the persecution of Falun Gong on August 15, 2021. The man worked for 110, a free phone number to call for emergency rescue. He called people to come and they beat her. Two ribs on her left side were broken. She is now hospitalized.

7. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Song Xiu Arrested

Ms. Song Xiu was intercepted and arrested by three plainclothes officers, one named Xu Libao, on May 15, 2021, when she was riding her electric bike on the street. She was taken to the Dongguan Police Station, where she was body-searched. Police confiscated her keys, watch, 4 reams of A4 paper, helmet, and the electric bike. Three officers went to her home, ransacked the place, seized a picture of Falun Gong’s founder, two Falun Gong books, a pair of scissors, and a pair of small tweezers. Afterwards they took her to the Gaomi Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital to undergo a physical exam so she could be admitted to the detention center. She managed to escape.

Three officers from the Dongguan Police Station knocked on her door on the morning of May 16. The family did not answer the door. The officers opened the door using the key they confiscated. The child in the house was frightened. The officers went back to her home to harass the family on June 23.

8. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Three Practitioners Harassed

Mr. Wang Ersi of Pengzhou City received a harassing phone call on August 13, 2021. The anonymous caller ordered him to “cooperate.”

Officers from the Danjingshan Town Police Station and agents from the 610 Office went to Ms. Luo Chunyan’s mother’s home on July 27, 2021. They asked for Ms. Luo’s personal information and tried to make her sign “guarantee statements” renouncing Falun Gong.

Ms. Zhou Dingqing was harassed at home by five officers from the Longfeng Town Police Station in May 2020. They photographed her and seized a picture of Falun Gong’s founder.

9. [Zunyi City, Guizhou Province] Ms. Chen Zhaorong Arrested, Whereabouts Unknown

Ms. Chen Zhaorong of Suiyang County was arrested more than a year ago. Her whereabouts are unknown.

10. [Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province] Four Practitioners Harassed

Mr. Zou Wenfu, Mr. Meng Xiangchang, Ms. Zeng Fenglian, and Ms. Wang Lixia were harassed at home by director Yuan Qingcheng from the Erdaowan Police Station and agents from town government in August 2021. They threatened them and said, “Do you still practice Falun Gong? If yes, go to the police station immediately.”

11. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Liu Xixiang Arrested

Liu Xixiang (gender unknown) was harassed at home by officers from the Jiangnan Police Station and clerks from the Yuhua Community on July 20, 2021. They ransacked the place and seized a picture of the Falun Gong’s founder, Falun Gong books, a computer, and other items. Liu was arrested and taken to the police station for questioning. Liu was released that night.

12. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Sun Yanfang and Ms. Yin Guizhi Arrested

Ms. Sun Yanfang and Ms. Yin Guizhi of Yanshou County were arrested by officers from the Chengnan Police Station on the morning of August 15, 2021, after someone reported them when they talked to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. Police ransacked Ms. Sun’s home and seized Falun Gong books, a picture of Falun Gong’s founder, Falun Gong audio tapes and discs, and paper currency worth 5,000 yuan with Falun Gong messages printed on them. Ms. Yin’s home was also ransacked.

They were released on bail the same day. Ms. Yin was released after 4:00 p.m. Ms. Sun was released after 9:00 p.m.

13. [Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Jing Yuhua Taken to Prison

Ms. Jing Yuhua was arrested on August 31, 2020. She was sentenced to three and a half years by the Xiangyang District Court in late December 2020. Heilongjiang Province Women's Prison called her husband in early August 2021 to tell him that she had been incarcerated. The guards denied family visits, citing the pandemic as an excuse.

14. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Wang Jinglin Imprisoned

Ms. Wang Jinglin was arrested on April 8, 2019. She was sentenced to four years by the Wuhou District Court on October 23, 2020. She appealed the verdict, but the higher court ruled to uphold it. She was taken to the Sichuan Women's Prison in late May 2021. The authorities did not inform her family until two weeks later and also refused to allow them to visit Ms. Wang.
