(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 16 cities or counties in 9 provinces, where at least 20 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Xingtai City, Hebei Province] Ms. Zhang Xiaohong Arrested and Detained

Ms. Zhang Xiaohong talked about Falun Gong with a student near the Wei County Procuratorate and gave the student a USB flash drive on October 1, 2019. The student reported her to the police. Li Enying, a Domestic Security Division head, and officers from the Chengguan Police Station, arrived at the site. Li Enying grabbed Ms. Zhang’s hair and dragged her into a police car. Ms. Zhang was interrogated at the Daning Police Station that afternoon. In the evening, led by Li Enying, twelve officers in three or four cars went to Ms. Zhang’s home. They confiscated her Falun Gong books and other belongings.

Ms. Zhang was detained for 15 days in the Daning Detention Center in Wei County.

2. [Chongqing] Mr. Xie Zhizhong Arrested and Detained

Mr. Xie Zhizhong received a call from his son in Guiyang City on July 23, 2021, and learned that his pregnant daughter-in-law was in the hospital receiving treatment related to her pregnancy. That afternoon Mr. Xie went the Hechuan Railway Station and boarded a high speed train to Guiyang City.

Mr. Xie talked to the two people sitting near him about withdrawing from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its affiliated organizations. A train security guard and a conductor came and asked the three of them to show their IDs. The guard confiscated their IDs and told them to pick them up at the security office in the Guiyang Station when the train arrived there.

Mr. Xie was arrested at the security office when he collected his ID and was taken to the police station. The police searched him and his luggage and found two 1-yuan paper bills which had information about Falun Gong printed on them. Mr. Xie was detained. He was released on August 1, 2021.

3. [Shanghai] Chen Jie Arrested and Detained

Chen Jie (gender unknown) was reported to police for talking about Falun Gong to people on the way to work on July 14, 2021. Chen managed to escape. Chen went to the post office near his home at around 4 p.m. on August 18, 2021. No one heard from Chen afterwards. It was recently learned that Chen was arrested by officers from the Zhi’an Police Station in the Jinqiao Export Processing Zone, was placed in a ten-day detention, and is currently detained in the Pudong New District Detention Center.

4. [Shanghai] Ms. Chen Tinglan Forced to Give DNA Sample and Fingerprints

Ms. Chen Tinglan was taken from her home to the police station by several officers from the Jing’ansi Police Station on May 20, 2021. She was taken to a special room. A sample of her DNA and all ten fingerprints were forcibly collected.

5. [Pingdu City, Shandong Province] Mr. Zhang Tangjiang Detained

Mr. Zhang Tangjiang lives in Zhugouqian Village, Jiudian Town. He was arrested by local police officers on the morning of June 4, 2021. Mr. Zhang was placed under official arrest on July 12, 2021, and is currently detained in the Mencun Detention Center.

6. [Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province] Mr. Yu Guicheng Harassed

Two people wearing face masks went to Mr. Yu Guicheng’s home at around 11 a.m. on August 20,2021. They immediately looked for Mr. Yu as soon as they entered the yard, frightening a 90-year-old family member. Mr. Yu’s wife asked who they were. One of them said that they were from the local police station. They photographed Mr. Yu’s wife.

7. [Jingzhou City, Hubei Province] Ms. Pei Dezhen Harassed

Ms. Pei Dezhen, 67, lives in Jinjisi Village, Nanhai Town of Songzi City. Three officers from the Nanhai Town Police Station violently knocked on her door at around 10 a.m. on June 8, 2021, while Ms. Pei was alone at home. As soon as they entered the house, they rushed to her bedroom and searched it carefully. They confiscated some Falun Gong books and a photo of Falun Gong’s founder.

8. [Datong City, Shanxi Province] Ms. Dai Xiurong Detained

Ms. Dai Xiurong was placed under official arrest. She is currently being detained in the Chenzhuang Detention Center in Datong City.

9. [Xinyang City, Henan Province] Ms. Li Changxiu Arrested and Detained

Ms. Li Changxiu was arrested by officers from the Pengdian Township Police Station in Huangchuan County, and was detained in the Hedian Detention House on July 21, 2021. She was released on August 5, 2021, after being detained for two weeks.

10. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Practitioner Meng Arrested

Meng (first name and gender unknown) was reported to police by the community security guard on the morning of August 19, 2021, for distributing truth-clarifying materials. Meng was arrested and her home was ransacked. The police confiscated more than 30 Falun Gong books and several truth-clarifying materials. Meng was released the next day due to his or her high blood pressure of over 200.

11. [Xinyang City, Henan Province] Practitioner Xiaoyan Arrested

Xiaoyan (gender unknown) from Xi County was arrested in their rented house in Huangchuan County Town. The reason is unknown. Xiaoyan was first detained in the Hedian Detention House and later to the No. 1 Detention Center of Xinyang City. Xiaoyan is still detained there.

12. [Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province] Mr. Zhao Huanzhen Arrested

Mr. Zhao Huanzhen from Shanhaiguan City was reported to police for talking to people about Falun Gong in the Wangfengtai Market in Suizhong County, and was arrested by officers from the Lijia Police Station at around 10:30 a.m. on August 22, 2021. He was later taken to the Suizhong County Domestic Security Division.

13. [Jinchang City, Gansu Province] Ms. Liu Guiju Arrested

Four officers (two male and two female) went to Ms. Liu Guiju’s home around 10 a.m. on August 9, 2021. They showed a search permit and ransacked her home while video recording the process. They confiscated more than 90 Falun Gong books, a photo of Falun Gong’s founder, a computer, and other personal belongings. Ms. Liu was arrested and taken to the Longshou Police Department. They returned to Ms. Liu’s home again at around 2 p.m. in the afternoon and attempted to arrest Ms. Liu’s husband Mr. Cao Heping, but eventually gave up.

Ms. Liu’s son and daughter-in-law learned what happened and tried to get her released. They picked her up by around 8 p.m. that evening.

14. [Maanshan City, Anhui Province] Mr. Wu Hengyi Arrested

Mr. Wu Hengyi, in his 50s, is a new practitioner. He lost contact in May 2021 and even his daughter doesn’t know his whereabouts. It was learned that he was arrested. The details are unknown.

15. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Zhang Jun Officially Arrest

Zhang Jun (gender unknown) is a teacher at the No. 123 Middle School. Zhang Jun was called for a talk with a leader in the Dalian City Political and Legal Affairs Committee on July 14, 2021. The next day, at around noon on July 15, 2021, about 20 officers went to Zhang’s home. Zhang was arrested and taken to the Dengshahe Police Station first and then to the Jinzhou District Police Department. Zhang was taken to the Sanli Detention Center on the afternoon of July 16, 2021. Zhang was placed under official arrest by the Jinzhou District Procuratorate on July 22, 2021.

16. [Songyuan City, Jilin Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Three practitioners, Wang Peixin, Zhao, and Pei, were arrested by officers from the Zhenjiao Police Station in Qianguo County on the afternoon of August 19, 2021, for talking to people about Falun Gong on the street.

17. [Tonghua City, Jilin Province] Ms. Wang Yonghua Harassed

Ms. Wang Yonghua’s husband received a call from the Shanshang Police Station in the Erdaojiang District in late July 2021. He was told that Ms. Wang was requested to go to the police station. She did not go. A few days later, they received a another call stating that the guarantee deposit for Ms. Wang to be bailed out last year would not be returned if she did not go to the police station.

When the couple went to the police station, they were told that Ms. Wang’s case had been submitted to the district Procuratorate. Ms. Wang was arrested last year when she was reading a Falun Gong book with other practitioners.

18. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Xie Yuqiang Arrested

Ms. Xie Yuqiang from the Hui Mountain area in the Beixin District was arrested by officers from the Shenyang North Railway Station on June 5, 2021, when she went to visit her hometown. After finding her media player and money imprinted with Falun Gong information, the police arrested her and ransacked her home. Ms. Xie was placed under 15-day detention (to be served at home).

Ms. Xie was arrested by officers from the Shenyang North Railway Station in August 2020, when she went to take amulets and truth-clarifying materials to her friends and colleagues. Her home was ransacked. Her entire set of Falun Gong books, photo of Falun Gong’s founder, a computer, and a printer were confiscated. She was placed under ten-day detention (served at home due to the epidemic).
