Additional Persecution News from China – July 25, 2021 (27 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 22 cities or counties in 13 provinces, where at least 51 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Li County, Hunan Province] Three Practitioners Taken to Brainwashing Center

Ms. Liu Lianyu from Mengxi Town was arrested on July 20, 2021. Ms. Liu along with two other practitioners Ms. Zhou Meifang from Fuxing Town and Ms. Gong Deyou, who is retired from the Taoyuan County Cotton Mill, were taken to the Changde Brainwashing Center on July 21, 2021.

2. [Beijing] Case Against Ms. Zhang Guishu Submitted to Court

The family of Ms. Zhang Guishu from the Shunyi District received a call from the Shunyi District Court at the end of June 2021. They were informed that the case against Ms. Zhang was submitted to the court. The family asked whether they could send a testimonial to question why Ms. Zhang, who is in her 70s, was detained since she did not distribute any truth-clarification materials and nothing was found in her home. Her family went to the procuratorate, but could not find out who was in charge of her case. 

3. [Huizhou City, Guangdong Province] Six Practitioners Arrested and Detained

Twelve officers from the Yuanzhou Town Police Station in Boluo County and the county Domestic Security Division broke into Mr. Zhao Tianhua’s home on May 11, 2021. Mr. Zhao Tianhua, his wife Ms. Cai, and four other practitioners at his home including Teacher Peng, Chen Hualiang, Wang Lifei and Teacher Lian, were arrested and taken to the police station. Mr. Zhao’s home was ransacked. Their Falun Gong books and truth-clarifying materials were confiscated. It was learned that all six practitioners were detained in a detention center. 

Teacher Peng, Wang Lifei and Ms. Cai were released in mid-June or late June 2021 after being detained for 37 days. The other three are still detained and are under official arrest. 

4. [Liquan County, Shaanxi Province] Zhang Xiwei Arrested

Zhang Xiwei (gender unknown) was arrested by officers from the Yanta District Police Department on the evening of July 21, 2021. 

5. [Hefei City, Anhui Province] Ms. Zhang Yulian Harassed

Four officers from the Chengdong Township in Yaohai District including Wang, head of the police station, went to Ms. Zhang Yulian’s home in the afternoon of July 22, 2021. They did not show a search permit and searched her home. They did not find anything. After warning Ms. Zhang not to contact other practitioners, they left. 

6. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wan Xiulan Harassed

Ms. Wan Xiulan was expelled from the Liaoning Province Chinese Communist Party (CCP) School because she continued to practice Falun Gong. Her pension has been suspended since January 2006. 

Ms. Wan was arrested by officers from the Nanta Police Station in the Fall of 2017 because she tried to clarify the truth and get her pension reinstated. She has been under surveillance for nearly two years. An officer from the Nanta Police Station videotaped and photographed her without her permission on February 28, 2021. 

7. [Jieyang City, Guangdong Province] Five Practitioners Harassed

Ms. Wu Lingshan works in another place other than her hometown in Potou Village, Zhanlong Town. She rarely goes back to her home. However, officers from the Zhanlong Town Police Station and village officials Wu Hanwu and Wu Chuwang, have gone to her home almost every month since September 2020. They videotaped her home and pressured her family to make Ms. Wu sign a guarantee statement. Ms. Wu’s ID has been held for five years by village official Wu Hanwu, who will not return it unless Ms. Wu agrees to renounce her belief. 

Four more practitioners from Zhanlong Town were also harassed. They are Chen Longqi, Chen Huijun, Chen Wenlin, and Wu Zhenchu. 

8. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Four Practitioners Harassed

Two officers from the Chengxi Police Station in Hanting District went to harass practitioners in early March 2021. They videotaped the practitioners and collected their phone numbers. The harassed practitioners are, Ms. Xu Xuemei, Ms. Xu Xuerong, Mr. Zhang Huating and Du Changzhen (gender unknown). 

Ms. Xu Xuerong was reported to the police for talking to people about Falun Gong in Panjia’an Village and was arrested by officers from the Gudi Police Station on March 19, 2021. She was forced to have her photo taken and to give her fingerprints. Her daughter was called to pick her up that day. Three days later, Ms. Xu was taken to have a physical examination and was sent to the Weifang City Detention Center but she was denied admission.

9. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Ms. Zhang Yaqin Harassed

Two officers went to Ms. Zhang Yaqin’s home on the afternoon of July 21, 2021 and were told that Ms. Zhang was not at home. They tried to enter her home but were stopped by Ms. Zhang’s family. The officers said that Ms. Zhang would not be arrested if she reported the names of at least two other practitioners. 

10. [Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province] Case Against Ms. Zhang Chunyao Submitted to Procuratorate

Ms. Zhang Chunyao was arrested at her home by officers from the Zhonghe Police Station in the Yinzhou District and the Yinzhou District Domestic Security Division on the morning of April 15, 2021. Her home was ransacked. She was detained in the Ningbo City Detention Center. Her case was submitted to the procuratorate by the Yinzhou District Police Department in early July 2021. 

11. [Xiangtan City, Hunan Province] Four Practitioners Harassed

Almost every practitioner in Xiangtan City has been harassed by people from the Political and Legal Affairs Committy, the 610 Office, local community offices and local police stations before July 20, 2021. 

Ms. Wang Duohong and her mother Ms. Zhao were harassed by community staff members and local police officers. Mr. Tan Tieqiang was harassed by an officer who tried to take photos of him but Mr. Tan stopped him.

Two women and a man came to Ms. Zhang Xianping’s home on July 8, 2021 just after Ms. Zhang went out to a farmer’s market. Ms. Zhang’s husband (a non-practitioner) refused to let them in and stopped them from taking photos. 

12. [Beijing] Mr. Sun Chang Arrested

Mr. Sun Chang from the Fangshan District was arrested at home by officers from the Hancunhe Police Station on July 20, 2021. He is currently detained in the Tiangezhuang Detention House. 

13. [Hengshui City, Hebei Province] Three Practitioners Harassed

Mr. Peng Jingyao and his wife Ms. Sun Xiuzhen received a call from the Heping Road Police Station in Taocheng District at noon on July 15, 2021. They were told some officers would come to their home. Shortly afterward, two officers and one community staff member showed up. They asked whether the couple still practiced Falun Gong. One of the officers took photos of Ms. Sun and ignored her objections. They also checked each room. 

Ms. Su Liying and her husband (a non-practitioner) received a phone call from the Heping Road Police Station on July 20, 2021 and were asked whether Ms. Su still practiced Falun Gong. 

14. [Leshan City, Sichuan Province] Three Practitioners Harassed

Ms. Zhu Yongli was harassed at her home on July 14, 2021. Seven people including Li Fujian and Rui, directors of Datian Community, went to her home and pressured her to sign a guarantee statement. They threatened her with her children’s schooling and their jobs. Ms. Zhu did not cooperate. Li Fujian and others continued to harass her on July 15, July 16 and July 19, 2021. Ms. Zhu did not give in and tried to make them understand the truth about the persecution of Falun Gong. 

Ms. Hu Ruifang received a call from Wang Xuexian of the Luxin Police Station (formally Xiaoba Police Station) on May 12, 2021. She was told to stop by the police station to have a talk, which she refused. Wang Xuexian called her again on May 25, 2021 and told her that they would come to her home to take some photos and have her sign some documents. Ms. Hu refused to cooperate. Ms. Xu received a harassing call again from Wang Xuexian on July 21, 2021. She was told to go to the police station or allow them to come to her home to sign a guarantee statement which was required as part of the Zero-out campaign. Ms. Hu refused again. After Ms. Xu was released from prison in December 2019, she received a harassing call almost every month. 

Ms. Zhao Shuqiong was released from prison in January 2019. Wang Xuexian from the Xiaoba Police Station and Li Fujian from the Datian Community called her once every month since she returned home, and told her to stop practicing Falun Gong and not to go out to distribute flyers. Once, Wang called her and told her to come to the police station or allow him to go to her home. Ms. Zhao refused to cooperate. Her son also received several harassing calls in June 2021. 

15. [Fuzhou City, Fujian Province] Mr. Chen Heng Arrested 

Mr. Chen Heng from Danyang Town in Lianjiang County was arrested by officers from the Chengguan Police Station in Lianjiang County on July 9, 2021. He was later transferred to Luoyuan County. His current situation is unknown.

16. [Beijing] Ms. Gao Yulan Arrested

Ms. Gao Yulan was reported to the police for talking to people about Falun Gong. She was arrested by officers from the Yangsong Police Station on the morning of July 24, 2021. Her home was ransacked but the police did not find anything. Ms. Gao is currently detained in the Yangsong Police Station. 

17. [Huangshi City, Hubei Province] Ms. Gao Hailian Harassed

Officer Liu Wenjian from the Xisaishan District and the director of Chengyue Community Liu Lifang went to Ms. Gao Hailian’s home for the fourth time around 11 a.m. on June 30, 2021. They photographed her and asked her what her job was and where she worked. 

18. [Huangshi City, Hubei Province] Ms. Dong Guizhi Arrested

Ms. Dong Guizhi was reported to the police for talking to people about Falun Gong and was arrested by officers from the Baquan Police Station in Xisaishan District on January 27, 2021. She was taken to the Yangxin County Detention Center but was denied admission due to the results of her physical examination. She was then taken to the No.1 Detention Center in the Xialu District. The doctor there said that she had a lung condition and refused to accept her. The police finally gave up and released her. 

Several days later on February 2, 2021, officers from the Baquan Police Station went to Ms. Dong’s home and ransacked the place. They confiscated her Dafa books and attempted to take her to a detention center again. Ms. Dong refused to go with them and they eventually gave up.

19. [Hailin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Xu Ying Arrested

Officer Wang Yuntang went to Ms. Xu Ying’s home around 5 a.m. on June 10, 2021. Ms. Xu did not open the door. Wang called in more officers and even threatened to break the lock. Ms. Xu and her husband had to open the door. Eight officers rushed in and carried out a house search, which lasted two hours. They confiscated the couple’s computer, hard drives, and two cell phones. Ms. Xu was taken to the police department. She was forced to have her photo taken, give her fingerprints, and take the nucleic acid test. Ms. Xu’s husband was pressured to give the following statement, “I ensure that my wife will abide by the law, and be available on call. I will do my best.” Ms. Xu was released around 11 p.m. that night. 

20. [Hunchun City, Jilin Province] Crimes Committed by 610 Office Director 

Li Bo is the director of the Hunchun City 610 Office. Since May 2021 he led police officers to go door to door to pressure local practitioners to sign a guarantee statement. 

Four practitioners Ji Jun, Wang Xiuzhen, Guo Xiuli, and Su Rongjiang were sent to a brainwashing center. Four collaborators were hired to slander Falun Gong’s founder and to play propaganda videos loudly. 

Ji Jun is nearly 70 years old. His son and his daughter-in-law have no jobs and they have a son. All three of them depend on Ji’s pension. Li Bo threatened that Ji would lose his pension if he refused to sign a guarantee statement. 

Ms. Guo Xiuli’s grandson graduated from university one year ago and became a civil servant in Beijing. Ms. Guo’s son-in-law works in the Law Discipline Committee. Li Bo threatened Ms. Guo and said that her grandson and her son-in-law would lose their jobs if she refused to sign a guarantee statement. 

Su Rongjiang’s daughter is a high school teacher and Su’s son-in-law works in the education bureau. Su was threatened and told if Su refused to sign a guarantee statement, Su’s daughter and son-in-law would be implicated. 

Ms. Li Xilian has been in a state of amnesia since being released from prison. Ms. Li is now very sick and hardly recognizes practitioners when they come to see her. Li Bo threatened the practitioners in the brainwashing center that they would be sent to prison and end up like Ms. Li if they refused to sign a guarantee statement to give up practicing Falun Gong. Li Bo and others are planning to hold a brainwashing session every three months in the future. 

21. [Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province] Ms. Zhao Yongxia Arrested and Detained

Ms. Zhao Yongxia was found talking to people about Falun Gong on April 9, 2021. She was followed by Li Lizhong, a Domestic Security Division head. Li Lizhong, who was in plainclothes, tricked Ms. Zhao into opening the door and then he called in several officers to ransack Ms. Zhao’s home. They confiscated a laptop and many Dafa books. Ms. Zhao was arrested and taken to the Development Zone Police Department for interrogation. She has been detained in the Qinhuangdao City Detention Center since then. 

22. [Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Han Xuejiao’s Household Registration Canceled

Ms. Han Xuejiao’s lawyer went to the Minxin Police Station in the Longhua District to check Ms. Han’s household registration on April 7, 2021 and was told that her household registration had been canceled. The head of the police station and a female staff member claimed that the cancellation document was mailed to Ms. Han’s father who signed on the mail delivery confirmation. Ms. Han’s father said he never received it. 

23. [Zhumadian City, Henan Province] Six Practitioners Persecuted

Ms. Wang Yue from Suiping County was arrested in May 2020 and was detained in the Zhumadian Detention Center. She was tried in court on December 20, 2020 and sentenced to five years in prison. Ms. Wang was taken to Xinxiang Women’s Prison in February 2021. 

Ms. Chen Baohua and her sister, and Ms. Deng Hong and her husband, were arrested on June 14, 2021. They were monitored and followed by the police for a long time before they were arrested. They are currently detained in the Zhumadian City Detention Center. 

Ms. Gao Changyun was reported for talking to people about Falun Gong and was arrested. Her current situation is unknown. 

24. [Beijing] Ms. Sun Xiangcun Arrested

Ms. Sun Xiangcun was arrested by officers from the Yangfangdian Police Station in the Haidian District around 8 p.m., on July 21, 2021.

25. [Beijing] Ms. Li Zhanjin Sentenced to Five Years

Ms. Li Zhanjin, a 75-year-old retired senior engineer at the Qingniao Company affiliated with Beijing University, was arrested on September 29, 2019 by Zhang Yanhui and several other officers from the Yanyuan Police Station. The police also interrogated her. Prior to Ms. Zhang’s latest arrest, Zhang harassed her several times, which traumatized her son and caused him to become depressed.

Ms. Li has been held at the Haidian District Detention Center since her arrest. She was sentenced to five years by the Haidian District Court on May 31, 2021. She has appealed to the Beijing City No. 1 Intermediate Court, which has assigned her case to judge Xiang Yang.

26. [Meizhou City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Li Qunzhao and Ms. Li Yixiu Sentenced

Ms. Li Qunzhao and Ms. Li Yixiu were sentenced by the Meixian District Court on July 22, 2021 to two years, and two years and three months, respectively. Both women were arrested in October 2020 after the police suspected them of using banknotes printed with information about Falun Gong. They stood trial on March 11, 2021. 

27. [Hulin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Guan Yanfeng Sentenced

Ms. Guan Yanfeng was arrested on July 12, 2020. She was tried by the Jidong County Court on November 18 and December 21, 2020. Minghui.org has recently confirmed that she has been sentenced to two years and fined 50,000 yuan.
