(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 19 cities or counties in 10 provinces, where at least 30 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
It was recently learned that Ms. Jia Ruiling from Xi’an was sentenced to 4 years in prison. The details are unknown.
Ms. Jia was seen by the surveillance system when she distributed informational materials about Falun Gong. She was arrested by officers from the Weiqu Police Station, and her home was ransacked on April 4, 2019. She has been held in the Sanyao Detention Center since then.
Mr. Gao Hongbin from Daqing was arrested last November. He was sentenced to 5 years in prison and is being held in Hulan Prison, according to information learned in mid-August, 2021. Neither his family nor his lawyer know when he was indicted, tried, sentenced, or admitted to prison. Neither the procuratorate nor the court notified them.
Ms. Yu Chunmei from Dalian was explaining the facts about Falun Gong to people on October 8, 2020, when was arrested by Baiyun Police Station officers. She has been held at the Dalian Detention Center.
Ms. Yu was sentenced to 4 years in prison by the Ganjingzi Court in July 2021. No further details are known.
Ms. Zhao Xiuzhen from Binzhou was reported to the police while distributing informational materials about Falun Gong on April 11, 2021. Officers from the Shizhong Police Station arrested her and ransacked her home. Her Falun Gong books and other belongings were confiscated.
Her case was submitted to the Bincheng Procuratorate in June 2021. An agent from the Bincheng Court called her on August 23 and told her to sign and put her fingerprints on the list of items confiscated from her home. She received a notice on September 3 that she was sentenced to 7 months in prison and could appeal to the appeals court within 10 days.
5. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Two Practitioners Harassed
Village head Zhang Bo called Ms. Hong Xihua’s husband on August 27, 2021, demanding that Ms. Hong go to the Pi County Brainwashing Center.
Zhang Yu from the 610 Office and other agents went to Ms. Zhang Xiuqin’s home on March 22, 2021, to take her photo and get her signature. On May 10 and 19, Women’s Federation director Huang Wenfang and Tangchang and 610 Office agent Tang Wendong went to Ms. Zhang’s home to photograph her and demand her signature again.
On July 26, Liu Wengui, Diaoyu Village Party secretary, and Zhong Ronghua went to Ms. Zhang’s home and told her to go to the Pi County Brainwashing Center. Ms. Zhang refused.
Mr. Liu You from Jinzhou was arrested on July 21, 2021, and has been held in the Jinzhou Detention Center. His home was ransacked twice, and officers seized a printer, a computer, Falun Gong books, and other items. The procuratorate has formally approved his arrest.
Mr. Yan Wei from Weihai was arrested and his home was ransacked by Qin Xiaodong and Huang Huadong from the Weihai City Domestic Security Division. They confiscated about 1,300 yuan in cash from his home.
A Baishan Township Police Station officer called Ms. Pang Guirong’s home on July 27, 2021. Ms. Pang was not home. Her son, in his 70s, answered. The officer told him to tell his mother to go to the police station to sign a paper renouncing Falun Gong.
Fengman Police Department officers went to Ms. Pang’s home on August 30 and harassed her again.
Mr. Qi Wanchuan and his wife Ms. Liu Binglan both practice Falun Gong. Their son works out of town. A Zhangjiakou City Police Department officer called their son on August 15, 2021, and asked if his mother still practiced Falun Gong. The officer also asked for his mother’s cell phone number. The son refused to give the officer his mother’s number.
Two officers took recording equipment to Mr. Qi’s home around 7:40 a.m. on August 23. No one was home so they left.
Domestic Security Division agents often harassed Mr. Zhang Luchan. They followed him in secret and often went to his home to harass him. Since August 2021, they have gone to Mr. Zhang’s home about once a week. They forced him to go to the Community Office, where they tried to pressure Mr. Zhang into signing statements renouncing Falun Gong.
Guo Buyong from the Sucao Village Committee called Ms. Zhang Yuehong’s son on September 3, 2021, and asked him to come to the office. The son went. Guo told him to persuade his mother to cooperate in making a video during which she would be recorded saying that she no longer practiced Falun Gong. Guo said that, if she did that, her name would be crossed off the list and she would not be harassed again.
Community Office director Liao Qiufeng and officer Tang went to Mr. Zhang Guichun’s home on September 2, 2021, and ordered him to sign a statement renouncing Falun Gong. Mr. Zhang refused.
Ms. Lin Suliang from Chengdu was arrested by officers from the Shaqu Police Station on July 9, 2021, for talking to people about Falun Gong. Ms. Lin is being held at the Chengdu Detention Center.
Shaqu Police Station officers arrested Ms. Gou Sulian from her home on July 13, 2021. They also arrested Ms. Feng Xiufang, Ms. Miao Jiaming, and Ms. Luo Chunrong who were visiting Ms. Gou at the time. Ms. Gou’s home was ransacked.
At the police station, Ms. Gou had a sudden medical emergency. Her family went to the police station and rushed her to the hospital. Ms. Lin is being held in the Chengdu Detention Center. Ms. Feng, Ms. Luo, and Ms. Miao are being held in the Shaqu Police Station.
Ms. Li Guanglan and her husband from Beijing were arrested and their home was ransacked on September 3, 2021. Details are being investigated.
Mr. Sui Jinming from Ganzhuangzi Village, Zunhua City, was arrested at her home by over 20 police officers on September 2, 2021. All the cell phones in the house were confiscated.
Ms. Tang Yuhua from Xi’an was reported to the police when she explained the facts about Falun Gong to people on August 16, 2021. She was arrested and taken to the Taohuatan Police Station. Officers ransacked her home and confiscated a photo of Falun Gong’s founder, Falun Gong books, and a laptop computer. Ms. Tang was released 3 days later, but the confiscated items were not returned to her.
Officers from the Shanting Police Department barged into Ms. Xia Lingmei’s home and arrested her on June 14, 2021. She was taken to the Tengzhou Detention Center and 15 days later transferred to the Xuecheng Detention Center. After being tortured in the detention centers, she developed severe anemia and insomnia. She failed the physical exam and was released on bail at the end of August.
Ms. Liu Shuli’s lawyer recently received a notice that Ms. Liu Shuli’s case will be heard in the Huanghua Court on September 10, 2021.
Ms. Liu Shuli, 65, was arrested at home on December 26, 2020, and held in the Cangzhou Detention Center for more than 9 months. Two lawyers will defend her at the trial.
Officers from the Zhangjiabao Police Station and hired agents tried to force Ms. Li Xiulian to sign a paper renouncing Falun Gong in July 2021. Ms. Li refused.
Two people went to her home to harass her again on August 20. Her son came in and asked, “What’s the matter?” The harassers said, “It’s nothing, nothing,” and left. Two days later, two more people came back to photograph Ms. Li.
Ms. Wang Xingmei from Rizhuang Town, Laixi City, was arrested at home by eight officers from the Rizhuang Police Station on September 3, 2021. She was taken to the police station and taken home an hour later. Officers confiscated her Falun Gong books, a photo of Falun Gong’s founder, a computer, and 3 printers.
Ms. Li Yuqiong and Ms. Jiang Taiju (in her 60s) from Suining were reported to the police while raising awareness about the persecution on August 13, 2021. They were arrested by Zhenjiangsi Police Station officers and taken to the station. They refused to disclose their names or addresses. Agents from the Domestic Security Division found their addresses using Big Data. Agents and officers from the station then ransacked their homes. They recorded the ransacking of Ms. Jiang’s home. They confiscated all her Falun Gong books, Falun Gong founder’s audio lectures, an audio player, and other items. They confiscated an MP3 player from Ms. Li’s home. Afterwards, they handcuffed Ms. Jiang and Ms. Li together and took them to the city’s Red Cross Hospital, where the practitioners had their blood taken and were given nucleic acid tests against their will. Ms. Jiang and Ms. Li were taken to the City Detention Center that evening and detained for 10 days. They’ve now been released.
