(Minghui.org) Minghui.org recently confirmed that a Zhaoqing City, Guangdong Province, resident has had her appeal against a six-year prison sentence for practicing Falun Gong rejected.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Li Jinlan, 67, was recorded by a surveillance camera distributing informational materials about Falun Gong on December 12, 2020. She was arrested on December 29 that year and held at the Duanzhou District Detention Center.
The Duanzhou District Procuratorate approved Ms. Li’s arrest on February 1, 2021. She was tried by the Deqing County Court on August 27 and sentenced to six years with a 10,000-yuan fine in October. The Zhaoqing City Intermediate Court rejected her appeal on December 27.
Ms. Li used to suffer nerve disorder. She often felt cold on her head and even had to wear a thick hat in the summer. Only three days after she took up Falun Gong in May 1999, she took off the hat and eventually fully recovered.
For telling people about Falun Gong at her hometown in Fengkai County in Zhaoqing on August 18, 2008, she was arrested and held at the Fengkai County Detention Center. The Fengkai County Court sentenced her to five years on October 20, 2009. She was incarcerated at the Guangdong Province Women’s prison and released in February 2013.
