Australia: Introducing Falun Dafa at the Perth Royal Show

(Minghui.org) Western Australia’s annual large-scale agricultural show, the Perth Royal Show, was held at the Claremont Showgrounds from September 24 to October 1, 2022. Falun Dafa practitioners once again participated in the popular festival.

The Perth Royal Show was first held in 1834 and includes agricultural exhibits, a carnival, parades, food booths, music and sports. Every year, it attracts hundreds of thousands of local residents and international tourists.

Many visitors were interested in Falun Dafa and wanted to learn the practice. Some bought Falun Dafa’s main book, Zhuan Falun. Many people said that Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance are core values that everyone should abide by.

Falun Dafa Well Received

Practitioners set up a booth at the Perth Royal Show to introduce Falun Dafa. They demonstrated the exercises and taught them for free. They also gave waist drum performances both in front of their exhibition booth and on stage. In the evening, the dragon dance team, celestial maiden team and the waist drum team gathered at the square to form a grand procession, attracting large numbers of people to pause and enjoy the performance.

“I Can’t Wait to Learn About Falun Dafa”

Many people came to the practitioners’ booth to learn about Falun Dafa. Some learned the exercises on the spot and others bought Zhuan Falun.

Michael and his family said they were happy to see the Falun Dafa booth.

Michael, who is a lawyer, and his family stopped at the Falun Dafa booth. Michael told a practitioner, “I feel very lucky to see the Falun Dafa booth here. For a long time, all sorts of happenings keep making me want to practice Falun Dafa. So I feel very fortunate to meet you all here today.”

“I can’t wait to learn more about Falun Dafa,” he said as he bought the English edition of Zhuan Falun.

Michael added, “I know about the atrocities committed by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in persecuting Falun Dafa. This is very scary. Why go and persecute someone who is trying to improve his health and well-being? Why must they do that? This doesn’t make any sense.

“Falun Dafa practitioners just want to practice the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance in their daily lives but they are being treated so unscrupulously. This is scary. Everyone has a right to improve their spiritual realm, especially when they do not harm anyone. In fact, they are trying to help people! I really feel so bad for practitioners [in China].”

“We Want to Improve Ourselves”

Adrian and his wife Shae said that when they saw the words Falun Dafa on the top of the booth, they were curious to learn more. Adrian picked up a flyer introducing Falun Dafa and asked a practitioner for more information. He then explained that he had dreamed about a turning srivatsa (swastika). Adrian pointed to the srivatsa symbol and said, “This is what I saw in my dream, and I’ve been looking for it.”

A practitioner told him that those who practice Falun Dafa abide by the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance to cultivate themselves and improve their character. Adrian then shared that he and his wife have been looking for an upright spiritual practice. “We want to improve ourselves,” he said.

Adrian also told the practitioner that he once saw a golden ray shooting out from the top of his head and other phenomena. He asked the practitioner what it all meant. The practitioner told him he would be able to find the answers to all of his questions in the book Zhuan Falun. He was very excited and immediately bought the English edition of Zhuan Falun.

More People Come to Learn About Falun Dafa

Many people were attracted by the colorful dragon and the large pink lotus flowers at the Falun Dafa booth. During the eight-day exhibition, large numbers of visitors stopped to watch practitioners demonstrate the exercises and many asked where they could learn them. Some learned the exercises at the booth, while others said that they would join an online class.

A father and his daughter from Bangladesh came to the booth. The father said that he was not interested in the other booths, and he only let his daughter come to the Falun Dafa booth. After the little girl learned the exercises, she saw Zhuan Falun on the table, picked it up and started reading the book.

Two students came by and learned the meditation. One said that this would help him relieve stress from the exams he was taking and added that he was very interested in Falun Dafa. He said he would go online and find out more.

Many people wanted to learn more after they were handed a flyer about Falun Dafa. One woman called her friends over so that they could listen as the practitioner introduced the practice. She also asked where she could learn Falun Dafa. A practitioner told her that there were online classes that taught the exercises and more information about Falun Dafa. The woman was very happy and said, “I can’t wait. I will go online and take a look.”

Public Support

Many people said that they appreciated Falun Dafa. They also expressed their sympathy for practitioners in China who are being persecuted.

A woman stopped by the booth with her child and listened as a practitioner told them about Falun Dafa. She explained that if someone abides by the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance, they will become a wonderful person. The woman was moved to tears. 

One person said, as he accepted a flyer, “I know Falun Dafa is prohibited in China because it is a communist country. Practicing Falun Dafa in China will land you in jail.” Another woman told a practitioner, “I wish you all well.”

Andrea Has stopped by and said, “The world needs to abide by the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance. Modern society needs these principles even more. They are becoming more and more important.

“I heard about the persecution of Falun Dafa by the CCP more than 20 years ago. This is really sad. The autocratic CCP government does not want people to have strong spiritual beliefs. They don’t want people to have freedom. This is sad.”

Andrea said, “Compared to the surroundings [at the Perth Royal Show], the atmosphere at the Falun Dafa booth is very harmonious. This is a very good and peaceful place. It’s a pity that not all governments think that this is something that they, as human beings, should possess.”

Dayna Jones said, “Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance are core values that everyone should abide by. It is really sad that the CCP responded by persecuting such a good, peaceful practice that does not harm anyone.”

Another visitor, Donna Passos said that Falun Dafa’s principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance are very important. “Especially in this busy world,” she said. “Returning to tradition to become an honest person who thinks about the future and cares for other people. This is a good thing.”

Joanna said, “This world needs Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance.”

Joanna Anderson also stopped by the booth and said, “This world needs Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance. I heard about this persecution in the past. Now when I hear that the persecution is still ongoing, I feel very sad. This should not be happening.”

“Falun Dafa is very suitable for children,” David Smith said. “Falun Dafa’s principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance are the qualities that you will want your child’s inner soul to possess, such as honesty. I think many people in modern society have already lost these qualities.”

Sean Waidenan said he appreciates Falun Dafa.

Another visitor, Sean Waidenan said, “The atmosphere at the Falun Dafa booth is peaceful and comfortable. I appreciate it very much. The persecution of Falun Dafa is horrifying. People are being wrongfully imprisoned. You did not do anything wrong. You should do all you can to expose the persecution.”

Ryan Waidenan said the world needs Falun Dafa’s principles.

Sean’s brother Ryan said, “Falun Dafa’s principles – Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance – are what this world of ours need. I do not agree with communism. Everyone should have their rights.”

Karen, the brothers’ mother, said that Falun Dafa’s principles are great and beneficial for people of all ages.
