Keep a Righteous Attitude Toward Celestial Eye Visions

(Minghui.org) [Editor’s note: Some religious cultivators can have their celestial eyes opened and see scenes in dimensions beyond the human world. However, those scenes are reflection of things in certain dimensions, at the level the cultivators have reached at that moment; they are bound by the cultivators’ level and may not reflect the ultimate truth. Since human beings often tend to believe what they see, these cultivators may describe those scenes with absolute certainty. 

On the other hand, some practitioners have objections to discussing what’s seen with celestial eye and may go to the other extreme of discrediting scenes in other dimensions all together.

Every practitioner should take Dafa as the sole guidance and try to interpret things rationally. Cultivation has no shortcut but there are rather many opportunities and traps along the way.]

Some practitioners of Falun Dafa can see certain scenes via their celestial eyes. This presents a question to both practitioners who can see and who cannot see: What is the correct attitude to take toward these visions?

For example, a practitioner in our region has long suffered illness symptoms. Many practitioners tried multiple ways to help but had no success. A few turned to a practitioner in another region whose celestial eye was reportedly open. They were told by the out-of-town practitioner that the sick practitioner’s body was possessed by a python. It shocked many practitioners and created unnecessary discussions, including questions about whether it was true since the sick practitioner showed no sign of animal possession.

I could sometimes see via my celestial eye. I once shared what I saw when my mother-in-law, also a practitioner, passed away a few years ago. My wife was in deep sorrow. To comfort her, I told her the scenes of my mother-in-law’s leaving the human world, such as she left with a fruition status (obtained from cultivation) and Master’s law body came to take her. 

My wife started to rely on my celestial eye since then and from time to time asked me to see what happened in other dimensions when she ran into tribulations. I then told her not to abuse the celestial eye – it was not for this purpose.

I felt that the practitioners pursuing celestial eye visions might become reliant upon them. It might be a common attachment among some practitioners, though many practitioners have shared on the Minghui website not to overly rely on such things.

Some practitioners who can see may also have the show-off mentality and thus keep telling others what they can see. But since they are not seeing the real truth, they might share wrong information with others, creating unnecessary tribulations for fellow practitioners and adding karma onto themselves by not guarding their speech.

What Should We Do Then?

I once heard a story that a practitioner, after his celestial eye was opened, saw that Master suffered tremendous injury in order to offer him salvation. Seeing such severe damage come to Master, he decided to stop cultivating so as to stop Master’s need to sacrifice for him.

I was shocked by the story. Whatever we see via our celestial eyes, we should view it from a righteous angle. Usually I refer to Zhuan Falun and Master’s other lectures to check his teaching on the topic first and then consult the wisdom granted me by Dafa to determine if the scenes are true and to interpret the meaning of the visions.

That practitioner made the decision to stop cultivation based on human sentiment. Had I seen what he saw, I would think, “Master has paid so much for me to cultivate, then I, as Master’s disciple, must cherish his unselfish and painstaking efforts. I should cultivate myself well and carry on Master’s spirit of saving people. I should never give up cultivation to avoid Master’s suffering more. Otherwise, wouldn’t Master’s efforts be in vain?”

Some who experienced such visions didn’t measure what they saw based on the Fa, but rather made decisions based on what they were shown. However, some scenes can be illusions to test practitioners and some can be created by the old forces to trick and destroy practitioners. That practitioner in the story fell for old force tricks.

How Should Practitioners with Celestial Eye Visions Interact with Other Practitioners?

Some practitioners saw past reincarnations with their celestial eye. They shared with others that it was not easy at all for a being to have the opportunity in this life to practice Dafa. Some saw the changes in other dimensions due to Fa-rectification and shared that. This kind of sharing has a positive impact when it comes to encouraging fellow practitioners’ cultivation and saving more people.

I sometimes shared positive visions, too. When many practitioners went to send forth righteous thoughts outside of prisons and other detention facilities, I saw that the whole practitioner group had formed a big lotus flower. I shared what I saw and my fellow practitioners were encouraged.

Another time I shared that I saw the gong columns of many practitioners when sending forth righteous thoughts. A practitioner asked whose gong column was white. I felt this reflected an attachment to compare between fellow practitioners. From then on I tried not to share in public but only do it in an appropriate, limited setting.

Master told us to “attain the righteous Enlightenment of selflessness and altruism” (“Non-Omission in Buddha-Nature,” Essentials for Further Advancement). We should always be considerate of others. Practitioners with their celestial eye open can put more thought into what would be appropriate to share to encourage diligent cultivation. Practitioners who cannot see can think about how they can prevent those who can see from developing the attachment to showing off.

Cultivators must maintain a righteous attitude regarding the celestial eye visions and base our understandings on Dafa, not on the visions themselves. We must not become interfered with by the visions, nor allow them to create interference for others.
