Cultivating Our Speech for the Sake of Both Ourselves and Others

(Minghui.org) Recently there have been some issues in our area caused by certain fellow practitioners not cultivating their speech. The rumors they spread drove a wedge between our local practitioners and interfered with our efforts to save people.

One fellow practitioner was out talking to people about Dafa and the persecution, when she was reported and arrested by the police. She was not afraid at all and began clarifying the truth to the law enforcement officers. She was released within an hour without facing prosecution. We were all very happy for the police who had learned the truth and did the right thing to release her.

But somehow, some practitioners spread the rumor that this practitioner was handcuffed during arrest and was still in detention. They also said that her husband was arrested too when it was not true.

In a similar incident, a practitioner escaped from being arrested, when he found out that he was being followed by two plainclothes agents while distributing Dafa material. But a rumor started flying on the next day that he was reported and arrested; some practitioners began asking around about his case.

Spreading rumors like this not only generates gaps among fellow practitioners, but also makes our environment more complicated. Some fellow practitioners who still harbor fear may be even more afraid to go out to clarify the truth.

Master taught us:

“If you, as a student [of Dafa], do not follow Master’s requirements, it is definitely no simple thing. The old forces have arranged for all Dafa disciples a set of their things, so if a Dafa disciple doesn’t follow Master’s requirements, he must be following the old forces’ arrangements.” (“Be Clearheaded,” The Essentials of Diligent Progress III)

The people of the world today are all divine beings coming from high realms. Can we not save them? We should focus our efforts on saving people and not waste our time gossiping among practitioners.

I don’t intend to blame any practitioners. But I do want to remind fellow practitioners that cultivation is serious and with everything we do, we need to put Dafa and sentient beings in the first place. Let’s cherish the time that Master extended with great endurance for us to save people, fulfill our historic mission, and not leave ourselves with regrets in the near future.
