Additional Persecution News from China – December 9, 2022 (10 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 7 cities or counties in 6 provinces, where at least 10 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Changsha City, Hunan Province] Ms. Tang Lijuan Faces Trial

Ms. Tang Lijuan, in her 70s, lives in the Changzheng Garden Community, Tianxin District. More than 20 police officers went to Ms. Tang’s home on June 12, 2022. They ransacked her home and took Ms. Tang to the police station for interrogation. She was later sent to Dongxiesheng Hospital because of her health and has been detained since then. Ms. Tang’s case is now in the court and she will be tried soon.

2. [Anlu City, Hubei Province] Ms. Wei Zhen and Ms. Huang Arrested

Ms. Wei Zhen was arrested by officers from the Fucheng Police Station on the morning of December 6, 2022, for talking to people about Falun Gong. Her current whereabouts are unknown.

Ms. Huang, in her 80s, was arrested by officers including Huang Yajun, head of the Fucheng Police Station, on the afternoon of December 6, 2022. The police confiscated her Falun Gong books, truth-clarifying materials, a few thousand yuan imprinted with information about Falun Gong, and other items. Ms. Huang was taken to the police department for interrogation but was released that evening.

3. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Ms. Liu Feng’e Harassed

Ms. Liu Feng’e from Westshore New District was arrested on the morning of May 5, 2022, and was later released on bail pending trial. Her husband received a harassing call from the Zhuhai Police Station on November 30, 2022. Ms. Liu also received a call from the local procuratorate. 

4. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Guo Yazhi Arrested

Ms. Guo Yazhi was arrested by several officers including Li Qunchao from the Shunhua Road Police Station when she was talking to people about Falun Gong at the Daxinzhuang Market on the morning of October 14, 2022. Her home was ransacked. Her husband paid 10,000 yuan to have her released on bail. She was released on bail pending trial at midnight. 

5. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Mr. Jia Hongjiang Harassed

Zhao Yu, head of the Domestic Security Division in Tang Harbor Development District, and officer Li Bing went to Mr. Jia Hongjiang’s company at 6 p.m. on November 17, 2022. They found two copies of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party and four amulets in Mr. Jia’s truck. They confiscated the truck.

6. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Zhang Huiqiong Persecuted

Ms. Zhang Huiqiong lives on Huashan Street, Donghu New Technology Development District. Officers from the Huashan Police Station in the Hongshan District arrested her and ransacked her home on December 23, 2021. Ms. Zhang was detained for 15 days in the No. 1 Detention Center of Wuhan City. She was released on bail pending trial on January 8, 2022.

Ms. Zhang left home to avoid further persecution after she was told to go to the police department in February 2022. Her family received several calls and documents from the police department in March 2022 and later. Ms. Zhang and her bail guarantor were threatened with being sentenced to three years in prison. 

Ms. Zhang’s ID is registered in a village in Wangji Town, Xinzhou District. The village officials were pressured to call her family in August 2022 and said they intended to send her to a brainwashing center. Her family refused to cooperate with the authorities' persecution of Ms. Zhang. 

Officers from the Wangji Town Police Station went to Ms. Zhang’s home in September 2022 and tried to pressure her to sign a guarantee statement. They didn’t find her but took some photos. They returned the next day to harass her family again. 

These officers went to Ms. Zhang's home to harass her again in November 2022. Because no one was at home, they took some photos of the outside of the home and then left.

7. [Meishan City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Guo Yurong Arrested and Detained

Ms. Guo Yurong was arrested on October 10, 2022. Her home was ransacked. She was detained for 15 days in the Pengshan District Detention Center and was then transferred to the Meishan City Detention Center. Her family received a call on November 18, 2022, and was told to post bail to have her released pending trial. 

8. [Beijing] Ms. Xia Chunfeng Placed Under Surveillance

After the death of Jiang Zemin, Ms. Xia Chunfeng from Chaoyang District was placed under surveillance from December 5, 2022, until noon December 7, 2022.

9. [Zibo City, Shandong Province] Ms. Yu Zhen Sentenced to Three and a Half Years in Prison

Ms. Yu Zhen from the Qilu Petrochemical Co. was sentenced to three and a half years in prison at the end of October 2022. It is not known where Ms. Yu is detained.

10. [Shulan City, Jilin Province] Ms. Yang Yuzhi Arrested

Ms. Yang Yuzhi was arrested on December 9, 2022, for talking to people about Falun Gong. She was released that evening.
