(Minghui.org) A retired employee of Mudanjiang Agricultural Reclamation Bureau in Heilongjiang Province had her pension suspended since May 2022 due to her faith in Falun Gong. With Ms. Guo Lifeng’s persistent efforts to explain the facts about Falun Gong, her pension has been reinstated in October 2022.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Guo, 56, of Mishan City, Heilongjiang Province, noted that her pension bank account was frozen in May 2022. She went to the bank on June 22 to inquire about it, only to be arrested by three officers from Beidaying Police Station.
At the police station, the police interrogated Ms. Guo, collected her finger prints and DNA sample, as well as taking her photo and recorded her voice. She was released on bail in the evening after being forced to pay 10,000 yuan bond.
Ms. Guo returned to the police station on September 5 and questioned the police chief why he ordered the bank to suspend her pension.
The police chief responded that she violated the law by practicing Falun Gong and undermining law enforcement.
Ms. Guo argued that no law criminalizes Falun Gong in China or labels it as a cult.
Unable to refute her, the police chief responded that they had already created the case against her. She could appeal with the Domestic Security Office if she had any objections.
Ms. Guo said to him, “Which law’s enforcement was undermined by me? My pension is my personal asset. I earned it through my own hard work. Which law rules that it’s illegal for me to ask for my own pension to be reinstated? My mother is in critical condition now and we need the money to pay for her medical treatment.”
The police chief found an excuse and quickly left.
Ms. Guo went to the Domestic Security Office on September 26, but the officer in charge of her case was out of town. As soon as he came back in late October, Ms. Guo approached him and clarified the facts to him. The officer agreed to reinstate her pension. On October 25, Ms. Guo’s bank account was reactivated and her pension between May and October was paid.
