Additional Persecution News from China – November 29, 2022 (13 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 12 cities or counties in 8 provinces, where at least 26 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Dazhou City, Sichuan Province] Four Practitioners Harassed or Arrested

Four practitioners from the Tongzhou District including Mr. Chen Kaixiang, Mr. Wang Huabin, Ms. Zhang Naifu, and Ms. Gao Wenyu, were harassed in June and July 2022.

Mr. Chen Kaixiang was deceived into going to the Laifeng Community Office on June 15, 2022. He was taken to the Xicheng Police Station by two police officers. Five officers from the Beiwai Police Station and the Xicheng Police Station, led by Deputy Li from the Tongzhou District Domestic Security Division, ransacked his home. They confiscated seven Falun Gong books. Mr. Chen was given a 15-day detention that would not be executed. He was released that evening.

Yang, head of the Panshi Town Police Station, and Fan, deputy of the Panshi Town Government, went to Ms. Zhang Naifu’s home at noon on July 6, 2022. They pressured Ms. Zhang to sign a guarantee statement.

Wang from the Sichuan Province Political and Legal Affairs Committee and He from the Dazhou City Political and Legal Affairs Committee, led twelve police officers to Mr. Chen Kaixiang’s home on July 14, 2022. They pressured Mr. Chen to sign a guarantee statement, which Mr. Chen refused. They stayed in Mr. Chen’s home all day. That day, another group of people went to harass Ms. Zhang Naifu and Ms. Gao Wenyu.

Mr. Wang Huabin was arrested on the evening of June 18, 2022 and detained for 15 days. He was summoned to the provincial Political and Legal Affairs Committee on July 15, 2022. 

2. [Fuyang City, Anhui Province] Ms. Zhou Dongcui Harassed Repeatedly

Officers from the Wenfeng Police Station in Yingzhou District went to Ms. Zhou Dongcui’s home on the morning of September 3, 2022. They ransacked her home and confiscated all her Falun Gong books, a photo of Falun Gong’s founder, 420 yuan imprinted with Falun Gong facts, truth-clarifying materials, four media players, cell phones, and other items. Ms. Zhou was taken to the police station for interrogation. 

A week later, officers from the Wenfeng Police Station returned to Ms. Zhou’s home. They pressured her to sign some documents and threatened to send her to jail. 

Ms. Zhou and her family received harassing calls from the police station on September 28, 2022. She was warned not to go out.

The evening before the 20^th CCP Congress, the head of the police station and an officer went to Ms. Zhou’s home. She was forced to have a photo taken with the head of the police station.

3. [Helong City, Jilin Province] Ms. Sun Qingju Arrested and Detained

Ms. Sun Qingju works for the Bajiazi Forestry Bureau. She was arrested on August 29, 2022 and was released the next day. She was arrested again on August 31, 2022. Ms. Sun has been detained since then. The case against her was submitted to the procuratorate.

4. [Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Nan Minmin Sentenced to Five and a Half Years in Prison

Ms. Nan Minmin appealed after she was sentenced to five and a half years in prison. The original verdict was upheld in December 2021. Ms. Nan is still held in the Longgang Detention Center due to the COVID pandemic.

5. [Wenling City, Zhejiang Province] Nine Practitioners Detained

Three practitioners from the Taiping Sub-district including Ms. Bao Lingling, Ms. Jinping and Ms. Wang Mei, were arrested on November 30, 2021. They were detained in the Wenling City Detention Center for a year.

Four practitioners from the Taiping Sub-district including Ms. Lin Guilai, Mr. Lin Huiguo, Mr. Han Ping and Ms. Lin Guilian, and two practitioners from the Chengbei Sub-district including Ms. Xu Jin’e and Ms. Xu Jinli, were taken to the brainwashing center at the training base in Hengshan on the morning of September 8, 2022. They were under 24-hour surveillance and were pressured to give up practicing Falun Gong.

6. [Zhangye City, Gansu Province] Case Against Mr. Zhou Junqi Transferred to Another Procuratorate

Mr. Zhou Junqi from the Shandan District was arrested on May 18, 2022 for distributing truth-clarifying materials. He was officially arrested on June 1, 2022. In September 2022 his case was rejected by the Shandan District Procuratorate due to insufficient evidence. However, Huang Dingming from the Shandan District Police Department transferred Mr. Zhou’s case to a another procuratorate, the Ganzhou District Procuratorate in November 2022.

7. [Weihai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zou Huaxiang Arrested

Ms. Zou Huaxiang was arrested in the Wenquan Town Market by two plainclothes officers on the morning of November 24, 2022 for distributing calendars that had information about Falun Gong. She was taken to the Wenquan Town Police Station. Her home was ransacked at noon when no one was at home. The police confiscated 14,000 yuan in cash, a computer, printer, and other items. They gave a receipt for 11,000 yuan for the bail pending trial but denied that they took away an additional 3,000 yuan. Ms. Zou was released around 10 p.m.

8. [Nong’an City, Jilin Province] Mr. Zheng Guofu Arrested and Detained

Mr. Zheng Guofu was arrested on October 2, 2022. He was detained in the Huimin County Detention Center.

9. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Ms. Xu Yafen and Ms. Liu Guihua Arrested or Harassed

Ms. Xu Yafen went to a practitioner’s home to take shelter from the rain. When she was about to leave, a group of officers arrived and arrested her. 

Ms. Liu Guihua was harassed at home by three or four police officers on the evening of September 10, 2022. The officers confiscated her Falun Gong books. They have returned to her home numerous time to harass her.

10. [Luzhou City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Tang Yongcheng and Ms. Liu Faqun Arrested

Ms. Tang Yongcheng, in her 80s, from Zhaoya Town of Lu County, was arrested by two officers on the No. 34 Bus to Texing Town in Longmatan District on the morning of November 22, 2022. Her whereabouts are unknown.

Ms. Liu Faqun, in her 80s, from Gulan County, was arrested on the street around 9 a.m. on November 24, 2022, by several officers for distributing amulets. Her home was ransacked. The police confiscated all her Falun Gong books, a photo of Falun Gong’s founder, some truth-clarifying materials, her bank card, and about 60,000 yuan in cash. Ms. Liu was taken to the police station for interrogation and was released at 10 p.m.

11. [Zhoukou City, Henan Province] Mr. Zhang Changquan Arrested and Detained

Niu Bowen, head of the Huaiyang District Domestic Security Division, and two police officers, went to Mr. Zhang Changquan’s home in Xiguan Village, Chengguan Town, Huaiyang District, around 9 p.m. on September 6, 2022. They searched every room and confiscated more than 100 Falun Gong books and photos of Falun Gong’s founder. Mr. Zhang was taken away. He is currently held in the Huaiyang District Detention Center.

12. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Ms. Li Shumei Detained

Ms. Li Shumei is held in the Jilin City Detention Center.

13. [Suining City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Wei Xiaojun Harassed

Ms. Wei Xiaojun, 59, was stopped by two police officers on the street on October 20, 2022. She was forced to take the officers to her home. The police confiscated all her Falun Gong books and a photo of Falun Gong’s founder.
