(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners across China have been raising awareness of their plight for the past two decades. Their efforts are hardly wasted—many Chinese people’s eyes have been opened to the human rights atrocities that have been happening around them, including the police officers who are supposed to enact the persecution.
Through the practitioners’ tireless explanations, these officers have learned that the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) persecution of the practice has no legal basis in Chinese law. Some of these officers, after realizing this fact, have also changed their opinion of the practice.
Here are a few stories from Falun Gong practitioners who have come across these officers.
Police Station Chief: “I Will Practice Falun Gong after I Retire”
I was arrested and taken to a police station because I talked to people about Falun Gong. At the police station, I got the chance to speak with the chief about the persecution and the benefits of Falun Gong. The chief said, “I will practice it [Falun Gong] after I retire. I know what you tell us is the truth.”
He asked me to teach him the fifth exercise.
While I was detained at the police station, the chief’s wife often brought me food. I was released five days later, even though the Domestic Security Office agents gave me 10 days’ detention. The chief reduced it for me.
As the deputy chief was also supportive of Falun Gong, he said to me, “I wish my mother were as healthy as you. Will you please teach her the exercises when you get a chance?”
I replied, “Aren’t you afraid that your mom will be arrested because of Falun Gong?”
He said, “Teach her in secret then. We in the force all know what Falun Gong really is. It’s just that we have to go through the motions to keep our jobs.”
Traffic Officer Quits the CCP
One day, a Falun Gong practitioner named Mei, in her 80s, and another practitioner named Fang, in her 60s, went out together.
When they were waiting at an intersection, Mei told Fang, “I want to tell the traffic officer there about Falun Gong.” She went straight to the officer when the light turned green.
“Hi, do you know how can I get to XX street?” said Mei.
“You’ll have to cross the street,” replied the officer.
He then came over and offered his arm, “Granny, I can help you cross the street.”
Mei took the chance to persuade the officer to quit the CCP.
“You are such a good person. I very much appreciate your help. While you are helping others, please also take care of yourself. If you ever joined the Chinese Communist Party or its associated organizations, please quit them and you will be blessed for it.”
She continued, “The Communist Party will be destroyed by history due to its evil deeds, and it is my hope that you don’t go down with it. Please also remember the auspicious words: ‘Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.’”
The traffic officer agreed to quit the Young Pioneers and Youth League and thanked Mei for telling him the auspicious words. Upon returning to his stand, he noticed that Fang was still waiting on the other side of the street. He stopped traffic to let Fang cross before he signaled for the cars to move again.
Police Station Chief: “Our Market Is for Falun Gong to Clarify the Truth”
One night, a fellow practitioner came to my home.
“Do you know that several older practitioners have been arrested this morning? They were talking to people about Falun Gong at the farmer’s market. Let’s go to the police station tomorrow to ask the police to release them,” she said.
I agreed to go.
The next morning I asked Master to enhance my righteous thoughts. I wished those police officers wouldn’t harm our fellow practitioners.
When I met the police chief, I greeted him.
“Good morning Chief! I heard that your officers arrested several Falun Gong practitioners yesterday, is that true?”
The chief smiled, “Don’t worry. I released all of them last night.” I was overjoyed.
“I’m very happy to hear that you did the right thing,” I told him. “Do you know why we always talk to people about Falun Gong? We want more people to know that the persecution has no legal basis. Those who stay away from the communist regime will be safe when justice is sought.”
“I know,” he replied. "Several years ago we arrested a female Falun Gong practitioner. To my surprise, I received several phone calls from overseas, and all of them told me the real situation about Falun Gong. We had all kinds of Falun Gong materials confiscated from practitioners, so I went and read them myself.
“I am very clear on what exactly Falun Gong is,” he continued, “and I know better than to participate in the persecution.”
The chief then told me about his policy regarding the farmers' markets in his town. Even though he and his officers knew that many Falun Gong practitioners pass out flyers and raise awareness of the persecution at those markets, he’s told his officers to ignore the practitioners.
“There are four elderly women who come in from the city. They always stand at the entrance of the market with a big box of calendars and Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party,” he recounted. “Sometimes people would report them but we simply ignored it.”
Yesterday’s incident, however, was a different story.
“What happened yesterday was that a few 610 Office personnel arrested the four women and took them to my station,” said the chief. “I told them to let me handle it.
“That evening, I called the 610 Office and told them that these women were all over 70, that their attitudes were good, and that we should let them go. I then had a young officer escort them to the bus station.”
This chief was in his 40s and very talkative. After our chat, I asked if he could help us get back all the Falun Gong books that they had confiscated over the years.
He nodded, "Yes."
