(Minghui.org) Three Yantai City, Shandong Province residents were sentenced to prison for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Zhang Meiling was sentenced to 3.5 years with a 6,000 yuan fine.
Ms. Sun Dingmei was sentenced to 3 years with a 5,000 yuan fine.
Ms. Sun Qiuhong was sentenced to 3 years with 4 years probation and a 10,000 yuan fine. She is suffering from a medical condition after eight months of detention.
The three practitioners were seized on June 10, 2021 during a group arrest of 13 practitioners. The arrests were ordered by Xin Xun, head of the Laishan District Police Department, and executed by Liu Baodong, an instructor from the Laishan District Domestic Security Office, and officers from the Shengquan Police Station.
The police monitored the practitioners’ daily lives by following their cars, listening to their cellphones, and tracking their locations for a long time before making the arrests. Xin bragged about the success of the group arrest afterwards.
The police broke into Ms. Sun Qiuhong’s home at 3 p.m. and stayed until 1 a.m., confiscating a large number of her personal belongings, including a computer, a printer, Falun Gong books, and the publication Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party. Her arrest was approved on July 16 and the books confiscated from her were used as prosecution evidence. She was held at the Fushan Detention Center, where she developed some symptoms.
The police later submitted the three practitioners’ cases to the Laishan District Procuratorate. Their families recently confirmed that they had been sentenced by the Laishan District Court.
