(Minghui.org) A Tangshan City, Hebei Province resident who has been denied family visitation since her arrest nearly two years ago was transferred to a local prison on February 18, 2022 to serve a three-year term for practicing Falun Gong.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Xiao Huijun was arrested together with her husband in a police sweep on June 18, 2020. While her husband, who doesn’t practice Falun Gong, was released on the same day, Ms. Xiao was kept in custody and taken to the Tangshan No.1 Detention Center a few days later.
Ms. Xiao was experiencing some medical problems when she was arrested and had a hard time keeping her balance while walking, yet the authorities still kept her family from visiting her throughout her incarceration at the detention center.
Ms. Xiao was sentenced to three years by the Zunhua City Court in April 2021. Her family was recently informed by the Hebei Province Women’s Prison that she has been taken there on February 18. It’s not clear whether the prison has allowed her family to visit her.
Prior to her latest sentencing, Ms. Xiao had been repeatedly arrested and tortured for not giving up Falun Gong.
