(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 6 cities or counties in 5 provinces, where at least 17 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Four Practitioners Sentenced to Prison

Mr. Fu Lixin, Mr. Wang Haizhou, Mr. Li Lijie, and Ms. Ai Yanjing from Kangping County were sentenced to prison. Mr. Li was sentenced to one year in prison and fined 5,000 yuan. Mr. Fu was sentenced to two years in prison and fined 10,000 yuan. Mr. Wang was sentenced to three years in prison and fined 10,000 yuan. Ms. Ai was sentenced to five years in prison and fined 10,000 yuan. Ms. Ai appealed, but the original verdict was upheld in the second instance.

2. [Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province] Ms. Chai Wensu and Ms. Feng Yanli Arrested

Ms. Chai Wensu and Ms. Feng Yanli from Xuanhua District were arrested by officers from the Nanguan Police Station on the morning of February 9, 2022, for talking to people about Falun Gong.

3. [Kunshan City, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Jiang Wenling and Ms. Yang Mingqiang Arrested

Ms. Jiang Wenling, nearly 70, and Ms. Yang Mingqiang, 74, were clarifying the facts about Falun Gong on Line 11 of the Shanghai Metro on August 2, 2021. A plainclothes officer entered the subway carriage and took photos of both practitioners.

Seven police officers went to Ms. Yang’s home at 9:30 p.m. that evening and ransacked the place. They confiscated several Falun Gong books, USB drives, and memory cards. They took Ms. Yang to the Huaqiao Police Station.

Ms. Jiang was arrested downstairs at her apartment building by seven police officers around 7 a.m. on August 3. The officers ransacked her home and took her to the Huaqiao Police Station.

The officers asked both practitioners’ families to each pay 2,000 yuan. Afterwards Ms. Jiang and Ms. Yang were released on bail.

On January 25, 2022, the officers went to talk to Ms. Jiang and wanted to detain her, as she was under the age of 70. Ms. Yang was released on bail.

4. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wang Huijing Arrested

Ms. Wang Huijing was arrested by officers from the Beiling Police Station, the Shenyang City Police Department, and the Huanggu Police Department while distributing Falun Gong materials on the afternoon of February 7, 2022. The officers ransacked her home and confiscated a computer.

5. [Zhongxiang City, Hubei Province] Ms. Min Ruyi Detained

Director Wang Wei of the community management office and two other people went to Ms. Min Ruyi’s home on the morning of December 8, 2021. They pressured Ms. Min to write three statements renouncing Falun Gong, which she refused. They later phoned the Huangzhuangshuilu Police Station. Political head Du Quanhua and six or seven other officers arrested Ms. Min and took her to the Linkuang Police Station.

The officers then took Ms. Min to the Huangzhuangshuilu Police Station. Officers collected her fingerprints, footprints, and took photos of her eyes for facial recognition. They took Ms. Min to the Chinese Medicine Hospital for a physical examination. She was then taken to a detention center for 15 days of detention.

While she was detained, Xiang Xingcheng of the Domestic Security Division, director Wang Wei of Mochouhu Community Management Office, and others pressured Ms. Min to write the three statements. They threatened her with extended detention, suspension of her pension payments, and said they would implicate her family if she refused to comply.

6. [Beijing] Mr. Sun Yuanlong and Mr. Zhang Bowu Detained

Mr. Sun Yuanlong and Mr. Zhang Bowu were arrested by officers from the Shengli Road Police Station, Shunyi District, on January 8, 2022. They were held in the Shunyi Detention Center and returned home on February 8.

7. [Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Kang Cuiqing, Ms. Qin Yulan, and Wei Jiansheng from Chongli District were arrested on the evening of January 21, 2022. They returned home on the morning of February 6.

8. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Zhou Jinghui Arrested

Zhou Jinghui was arrested by officers from the Shihuiyao Police Station in the Zhifu District on the afternoon of February 8, 2022. Zhou returned home the following afternoon.
