(Minghui.org) May 13, 2022 is the 30th anniversary of Falun Dafa’s introduction to the world and the birthday of Master Li, the founder of Falun Dafa. Multiple Members of Federal Parliament wished Master Li a happy birthday and thanked him for his contributions to mankind.
Ms. Judy Sgro, a senior Member of Parliament (MP), expressed her gratitude to Master Li Hongzhi, saying, “Thank you Master Li for your unremitting efforts. Thank you for the opportunity for people to gather together and seek a peaceful (cultivation) way. People need Falun Dafa.”
MP Judy Sgro speaks during the celebration of the 30th anniversary of Falun Dafa’s introduction to the public on Parliament Hill on May 10.
MP Sgro addressed the celebration and congratulated Falun Dafa Day. She said, “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance are basic principles we all should follow. It is an avenue to peace, especially after the difficulties in the last two years. We are able to be here today with God’s blessing us with the sun. I just think it’s a wonderful end to this pandemic and an opportunity for us to move forward together.”
MP James Bezan said, “Happy birthday, Master Li. Thank you for everything you’re doing for the Falun Gong practitioners around the world.”
MP Scott Reid said, “Happy birthday, Master Li. And thank you for all the work you’ve done on behalf of all humans over the past three decades.”
MP Sgro said, “We have to recognize that live organ harvesting continues in China. Innocent people continue to be persecuted. We need to have a united voice on human rights. It is important that we stand together against that kind of persecution around the world.”
MP Bezan said that he was particularly drawn to the efforts of Falun Gong practitioners who face persecution in China for their faith and human rights. He said that Falun Gong practitioners living under the brutal regime of communist China have suffered live organ harvesting, forced brainwashing, torture and other persecution because of their beliefs. They have lost their basic human rights, dignity, freedom of belief, and freedom of assembly.
“The persecution has to end,” said MP Bezan, “You can rest assured that all of us as parliamentarians here in Canada, we stand with you united in your cause. We’ll continue to do everything we can here in the Parliament of Canada to make it even more difficult for the regime in China to get away with mass atrocities against human rights.”
MP Scott Reid said, “I admire so much the strength of character Falun Gong practitioners have shown. I’ve met a few protesters in China who have been in prison and then came to Canada. Every one of them has been an inspiration. So you are inspiring.”
MP Garnett Genuis speaks in the rally.
MP Garnett Genuis wished Master Li a happy birthday. He said, “Truthfulness, compassion, forbearance are important values that people have of many different backgrounds and faith traditions. I admire these values.”
“Protection of conscience is core to what it means to be a human being,” said MP Genuis, “We reject the materialist philosophy of the CCP that suggests that all that matters is the material.
“People are spiritual beings, they have spiritual longing, that is normal and natural and beautiful. And, and that’s why religious freedom, freedom of conscience, is the first freedom. It’s core to what makes us human beings. It makes us more than animals.
“So I encourage Falun Gong practitioners and people of all faith backgrounds in China to just persist in pursuing that spiritual dimension of life and recognizing their dignity as human beings goes beyond the material. They should be free to engage in that spiritual practice in pursuit without the interference of the state.”
MP Melissa Lantsman speaks in the rally.
MP Melissa Lantsman said, “It's important that members of parliament see the perseverance of the Falun Gong community, the difference between right and wrong, the difference between good and evil and to show the communist government in China that you are here to stay and that they cannot persecute the Falun Gong here or abroad.
“I am a longtime supporter of the community. I look forward to being here every single year.” She wished Master Li a happy birthday.
MP Larry Brock speaks at the rally.
MP Larry Brock, a member of the conservative caucus, said, “I wish to extend a very heartfelt Happy Birthday to Master Li. I am so proud to be standing here on Parliament Hill to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Falun Dafa. We will continue to promote your message of kindness and compassion and to ensure that religious tolerance is accepted around the world.”
To the practitioners being persecuted in China, he said, “We will continue to advocate on your behalf. You have a sanctuary here in Canada. We will continue to use our diplomatic efforts to get a message to the communist regime that all religions need to be accepted and tolerated and not persecuted.”
MP Michael Cooper addresses the rally.
MP Michael Cooper said, “Falun Dafa transforms the lives of so many people around the world. And it’s such a force for good. And that’s why it faces so much resistance from the Chinese Communist regime. So I think all people of goodwill around the world need to stand with the Falun Gong practitioners and stand up for what is good and to stand up for human rights in China.”
“I want to say to all Falun Gong practitioners in China who are suffering from human rights abuses and oppression—that we understand your plight. The world is watching. The world knows the crimes the Chinese Communist regime is committing. As a Canadian parliamentarian, what I am committed to doing is to work with other Canadian Members of Parliament to see that the Government of Canada takes measures to hold the Chinese Communist regime accountable.”
“We need to impose good sanctions on Chinese Communist officials who are responsible for these human rights violations in court, including Magnitsky sanctions,” said MP Cooper, “We need to pass laws in Canada like Bill S 223. To make it a criminal offense for anybody to go abroad to get a human organ without the consent of the donor is important as well. So there are some practical things that the government of Canada can be doing and should be doing. And we are going to continue to advocate for changes.”
MP Arnold Viersen speaks in the rally.
MP Viersen said, “I want to congratulate the Falun Gong community on being resilient to follow truthfulness, compassion, and tolerance. I appreciate that. Those (values) are what we need more of in the world. I want to thank the community for promoting them.”
He moved a petition from his constituents that morning to get the Canadian government to recognize the CCP’s ongoing forced live organ harvesting of Falun Gong practitioners.
