(Minghui.org) Ms. Jin Min, a 55-year-old resident of Tonghua City, Jilin Province, was arrested on September 11, 2020, after being reported for telling a taxi driver about the Chinese Communist Party’s persecution of Falun Dafa, also known as Falun Gong. She was taken to Jilin City Detention Center three days later and indicted in November 2020 by the Chuanying District Procuratorate, which forwarded her case to the Chuanying District Court one month later.
It was learned in October 2021 that Ms. Jin had been secretly sentenced to six years for her faith in Falun Gong. She and her family filed an appeal with Jilin City Intermediate Court. They learned in March 2022 that the intermediate court upheld the original judgment without a hearing.
Previous Arrests
Ms. Jin, who used to work at the Tonghua Steel Mill, has been arrested multiple times since the persecution began in 1999. Prior to her latest sentencing, she was thrice given forced labor and once sentenced to prison. She endured brutal tortures at various detention facilities for a total of eight years.
Two Years at Jilin Women’s Labor Camp
Ms. Jin went to Beijing to speak out for Falun Gong on January 15, 2000. She was arrested in February and given one year of forced labor at the Jilin Women’s Labor Camp. Her term was extended by one year because she remained firm in her faith.
Ms. Jin was often forced to squat in a corridor during the cold winter. The guards took turns, two people on each two-hour shift, bombarding her with slanderous propaganda against Falun Gong. She was not allowed to sleep for ten days. She was beaten frequently, and her face and neck were shocked with electric batons, resulting in blisters all over. The guards were later afraid that their evil deeds would be exposed, so they shocked her in the buttocks and inner thighs.
Ms. Jin was also sent to solitary confinement several times. She was once tied with her legs on top of each other for two days. Another time, she was tied to a death bed torture device in a spread eagle position for 18 days straight. The guards poured water on the bed and then shocked her with electric batons. She couldn't walk after being released from the bed. It took her more than one month to heal.

Two Years at Heizuizi Women’s Labor Camp
Not long after Ms. Jin was released, she was seized again in a mass arrest in 2002 after practitioners in Changchun City tapped into the cable TV to broadcast videos about Falun Gong. She was given two years of forced labor in Heizuizi Women’s Labor Camp.
Ms. Jin was assigned to the No. 4 Brigade in the labor camp. She held a hunger strike for 78 days to protest the persecution. She was then moved to the No. 6 Brigade where she faced continued persecution.
In March or April 2003, Ms. Jin was severely beaten for telling the goodness of Dafa to an inmate, who was detained with her in the same room. Her face looked horrible because of the beatings. It was swollen and scratched.

Another Three Years at Heizuizi Women’s Labor Camp
Ms. Jin returned to visit her mother in Panshi City in July 2004. She was reported and arrested when she was clarifying the truth. Also arrested were her mother, her mother-in-law, two elder sisters, and one neighbor. Ms. Jin was given three years in Heizuizi Women’s Labor Camp while everyone else received one year.
Ms. Jin was assigned to the No. 4 Brigade in the labor camp. She held firm to her faith and was thus put under “strict control.” She was always followed by other inmates, even when she went to the restroom. She was not allowed to leave the room or talk to anyone. She was denied family visits and purchase of daily necessities.
Ms. Jin should have been released on July 26, 2007. The labor camp claimed that she hid Dafa scriptures in her body, and her term was thus extended by 15 days.
Family Members Arrested Several Times
Between 2010 and 2013, Ms. Jin and her family members were arrested and detained multiple times.
On June 26, 2010, Ms. Jin’s eldest sister was arrested by officers from Yantongshan Police Station when clarifying the truth. Ms. Jin tried to rescue her sister and was also arrested on July 1. They were both detained for 15 days.
On June 28, 2011, Ms. Jin was arrested and taken to Changliu Detention Center in Tonghua City by officers from the Taoyuan Police Station. She was released on July 8.
On December 18, 2013, Ms. Jin was arrested and held at the Changliu Detention Center when she tried to rescue her two sisters, who were illegally detained in Panshi Detention Center. She went on a hunger strike to protest the arrest and was released eight days later.
Sentenced to One Year in Prison
Ms. Jin and her father moved to Jilin City when her two sisters were serving prison sentences. Her father left his phone number with the Jilin social security office when he applied for his pension.
Officers from Taoyuan Police Station in Tonghua City showed up at Ms. Jin’s rental home in Jilin City on August 19, 2016. They arrested her and took her to Tonghua City Detention Center. She started a hunger strike to protest the detention. One month later, she was on the verge of death and was treated in the hospital.
A judge at the Erdaojiang District Court in Tonghua City held a hearing in her hospital room and sentenced her to one year in prison. She was later taken to Jilin Women’s Prison.
