(Minghui.org) I used to admire practitioners I thought cultivated well. Whatever they did, I tended to follow suit without thinking. By the time I realized what I had done, I had already stumbled many times. However, I started following others again not long after. Apart from realizing my attachment to relying on others, I also enlightened to another principle, which I would like to share with fellow practitioners.
While memorizing the Fa by writing it down yesterday, I came across the following passage:
“Since human beings have qing, being upset is qing, so are happiness, love, hatred, enjoying doing one thing, resenting doing another thing, preferring one person to another, hobbies, and dislikes. Everything belongs to qing, and everyday people just live for it. Then, as a practitioner and one who rises above and beyond the ordinary, one should not use this approach to judge things, and one should break away from them.” (Lecture Six, Zhuan Falun)
I was suddenly drawn to this sentence, “one should not use this approach to judge things” (Lecture Six, Zhuan Falun). It seemed as if I had never seen this sentence before. I thought, “Do I use this approach to judge things?” I looked again at “this approach” that Master mentioned, and this sentence, “preferring one person to another,” suddenly flashed before my eyes. I understood that I had been using this approach in my cultivation and daily life. I looked up to whoever that had cultivated well and looked down on and felt disgusted by those who didn't. What is the difference between this attitude and ordinary people's “disliking the poor and loving the rich”? It was because I had this attachment that I agreed with whatever was said by those practitioners I thought cultivated well, regardless of whether what they said complied with the Fa. As for the practitioners that I looked down on, I never cared about what they said.
I enlightened to what should be the right attitude: I should not be moved no matter how well or poorly other practitioners cultivate. I should hold onto the Fa and focus on cultivating myself. If I do not judge in my heart who cultivates well or poorly, will I still follow those that I think “cultivate well”?
Above is my personal understanding. If there is anything inappropriate, please kindly point it out.
