(Minghui.org) Two Falun Gong practitioners from Daxing’anling Prefecture, Heilongjiang Province were taken to the Heilongjiang Province Women’s Prison on June 16, 2022 to serve time for their faith.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Liu Kaixin
Shortly after Ms. Liu Kaixin took up Falun Gong a few years ago, the Songling District Political and Legal Affairs Committee started harassing her and ordering her to renounce Falun Gong.
Even after she began working out of town, the authorities still went after her. They eventually located her through monitoring other practitioners’ phone calls and arrested her at 11 p.m. on September 5, 2021 at her rental place.
Ms. Liu was held at the Jagdachi District Detention Center and later sentenced to three years by the Songling District Court.
Ms. Zhang Jianhua
Ms. Zhang Jianhua was arrested on August 6, 2021, after being followed by the police for talking to people about Falun Gong. The police confiscated her Falun Gong books and other personal belongings. As her son stopped the police from taking their cash kept at home, the police arrested him a few days later, charging him with “attacking the police.” It took her family a lot of effort to get him released.
Ms. Zhang was held at the Jagdachi District Detention Center and later sentenced to three years by the Jagdachi District Court.
