(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 12 cities or counties in 6 provinces, where at least 20 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Liu Binghuan from Jinan City, Shandong Province, was arrested by officers from the Chengbei Police Station in Yangshan County, Qingyuan City, Guangdong Province, on June 14, 2022.
Ms. Cao Chunmei and her sister Ms. Cao Meiying sent out via registered mail a “Criminal Complaint” against police officers Gao Weibing and Li Chengsheng of the Huahu Police Station to the Complaints and Appeals Office of Huangshi Port District Procuratorate and to Ning Hai, chief of the Huangshi Port District Police Department.
At the same time, they mailed out an “Exemption from Prosecution” to the Prosecution Section of Huangshi Port District Procuratorate.
Ms. Gao Fei, 52, was arrested by officers from the Tongtai Street Police Station on May 24, 2022. The officers ransacked her home and confiscated a set of Falun Gong books, Falun Gong-related materials, and items. Her current whereabouts are unknown.
Ms. Zhou Chunling and her mother Ms. Xu Jimei from Guan County, Shandong Province, were arrested on June 10, 2022, across provincial borders by Guan County Police Department officers at the home of Ms. Zhou’s daughter in Fengcheng City, Liaoning Province.
Nine officers from the Guan County Police Department arrived in three vehicles. They followed, staked out, and photographed the two practitioners. In collaboration with the Fengshan Police Station in Fengcheng City, they arrested Ms. Zhou and Ms. Xu, and ransacked the place they were staying in. The mother and daughter were taken back to Guan County, Shandong that night.
Around June 12, 2022, Ms. Jia Fengzhi was taken to an intensive care unit from prison for the third time because of a low platelet count. She was brought back to prison from the hospital on June 6, when the doctors said that her platelet index had returned to normal. It is obvious that the hospital’s platelet-raising treatment was only temporarily effective, and her condition was not cured.
On September 7, 2020, Ms. Jia was sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison and fined 35,000 yuan by Sun Guoli, a judge of the Pinggu District Court in Beijing, for distributing truth clarification desk calendars. Ms. Jia was held in the Pinggu Detention Center for nearly two years before she was taken to the No. 3 Ward of the Tiantanghe Women’s Prison in the Daxing District, Beijing on November 18, 2021.
After being held in prison for just over 20 days, Ms. Jia developed symptoms of low platelets and was twice taken to the intensive care unit of the Chaoyang Emergency Center for rescue and treatment. She received treatment with injections in the prison, but the effect was temporary. Her platelet count rose and then quickly fell, and she suffered severe headaches and other side effects, including arm numbness, dizziness, and stuttering.
Ms. Jia’s family applied for medical parole for her on June 2. On June 6, the hospital said that Ms. Jia’s platelets returned to the normal range after treatment, but she still stuttered, which was a side effect. She was taken back to prison from the hospital.
Mr. Luo Banglin is being held in the Mianshawan Detention Center in Panzhihua City.
Around the end of May 2022, officials from the Miyi County Procuratorate went to the detention center. They told Mr. Luo that they were going to sentence him to three or three and a half years in prison and told him to sign the paperwork, which he refused.
Around 11 a.m. on June 15, 2022, director Xiao of the Dongmafang Internet Monitoring Center (the former Stability Maintenance Center) called Mr. Xiong Jiwei, who had just returned home from prison. Xiao told Mr. Xiong to attend study sessions at the Tian’e Brainwashing Center. Xiao threatened that if he did not cooperate, he would be handed over to the police station, which would dispatch officers to his home. Mr. Xiong rejected Xiao’s unreasonable demand.
On May 31, 2022, Wang Feng, head of Yidong Community Management Office in the Dongmafang Sub-district, talked to Ms. Du Zuying and told her to attend study sessions at the Tian’e Brainwashing Center on June 3. Wang threatened to have someone from the police station visit her if she did not cooperate. Around the same time, Mr. Chu Guanyuan was also told by people in the Yidong Community Management Office to go to the brainwashing center. Both Ms. Du and Ms. Chu rejected the unreasonable demand.
Mr. Qiao Chenglin was tried by the Zhangqiu District Court on June 14, 2022. Mr. Qiao asked to defend himself. The court did not give him a chance to speak. The court arranged a defense lawyer who made a guilty plea. No decision was made during the trial. Mr. Qiao is currently staying at home.
On the morning of June 14, 2022, a woman came to knock on the door of Ms. Chen Shuhua’s home. Ms. Chen, in her 70s, lives in the urban area of Zhaoyuan City. The woman said that she was there to conduct nucleic acid testing. When Ms. Chen opened the door, three police officers forced their way in. They ransacked the place and confiscated a photo of the founder of Falun Gong, her cell phone, and a jukebox.
Officers from the Longfeng Police Department went to Ms. Gong Baoying’s home in Section B of the Dongchenglingxiu area, Longfeng District, on June 9, 2022. Ms. Gong was not at home but her husband was. The officers told her husband that they received reports, and ransacked the place. They confiscated some Falun Gong books. They intimidated Ms. Gong’s husband by threatening to detain him.
Ms. An Hongmei was reported to the police while talking to people about Falun Gong in a residential community on April 6, 2022. She was arrested and her home was ransacked by officers from the Development Zone Police Department. She was released at 4 p.m. the following day.
Ms. Cui Ying was arrested by two officers from the Liu Zhiyuan Police Station in the Licheng District while talking to people about Falun Gong at a night market on June 11, 2022. The officers ransacked her home and confiscated her Falun Gong books. Ms. Cui was released at midnight. The officers threatened to put her in criminal detention for nine days and ordered her to sign the paperwork, which she refused.
Mr. Li Peixin went to Liaoyang City to repair home appliances for a friend. He was arrested and placed in detention by officers from the Baita District Police Department in Liaoyang City on December 9, 2021.
Mr. Li was officially arrested on January 14, 2022. He will be tried in the Dengta City Court on June 21.
The Illness Ward is affiliated with the Supervision Detachment of the Changchun City Police Department. In 2021, other practitioners witnessed Ms. Huang Jingru, Ms. Yang Li, and Ms. Wang Yajun being brutally persecuted there.
Ms. Huang refused to cooperate with the forced transformation, refused to take medicine, did not accept injections, did not write the three statements, and was brutally tortured. The guards put handcuffs and shackles on her and tied her to the bed. She was not allowed to get off the bed to use the toilet, wash her hair, or talk to other people. She was forced to urinate in bed and her diapers were not changed. Her weight dropped below 80 pounds due to the persecution. She went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution and was force-fed by prison guards and doctors.
Ms. Huang refused to take any medicine or be injected. Prison guard Zheng Xu instructed others to pinch Ms. Huang’s neck, and they bruised her body.
On the morning of July 14 and August 24, 2021, the inmates beat and scolded Ms. Huang, but they were stopped by the doctor who was on duty.
Ms. Yang was transferred from the Changchun City No. 4 Detention Center to the Illness Ward. She was extremely weak at the time. She was forcibly handcuffed and chained to the bed for refusing to comply with the rules targeting Falun Gong practitioners in the Illness Ward. Male guard Zheng Xu held her down by pressing on her thighs while doctors and nurses forcibly drew blood samples from her. Later, Ms. Yang was transferred back to the detention center.
Ms. Wang went on a hunger strike. She clarified the truth to the prisoners, and advised them to quit the Chinese Communist Party and its affiliated organizations to avoid being implicated in its crimes. She was forcibly handcuffed and shackled to the bed and was not allowed to use the toilet.
