(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 14 cities or counties in 9 provinces, where at least 54 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Chongqing] Ms. Duan Zaiying Faces Trial

Ms. Duan Zaiying, 73, from Banan District, was reported to the police on the morning of April 29, 2021, for talking to people about Falun Gong. She was arrested by officers from the Banan District Police Department and the Longzhouwan Police Station, and her home was ransacked. Ms. Duan has been held in the Jieshi Town Detention Center in the Banan District for one year and three months.

Ms. Duan’s husband recently received a notice from the Jiulongpo District Court that Ms. Duan would be tried in the third criminal court at 2 p.m. on August 1, 2022. The court told the legal aid lawyer to stop defending her. Mr. Duan’s husband will serve as her defender.

2. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Mr. Zhang Yong Arrested After Returning Home from Prison

Mr. Zhang Yong’s three-year sentence ended on July 19, 2022, and his family went to Gongzhuling Prison to pick him up. As soon as he returned to Jilin City, Mr. Zhang, Ms. Ma Jie, her husband Mr. Shao Jianwei, and their two sons were arrested and taken to the Xin’an Police Station at around 9 p.m. that night. No further information is available at this time.

3. [Gaobeidian City, Hebei Province] Ms. Han Xiuhong Arrested

Ms. Han Xiuhong was reported to the police while talking to people about Falun Gong on the morning of July 19, 2022. She is being held in the Liangjiaying Police Station, and her tricycle was impounded. The police ransacked her home that morning and confiscated several Falun Gong books and weekly publications.

4. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Liu Chunping Faces Trial

Ms. Liu Chunping, 82, was scheduled to be tried by the Zhangqiu Court on July 26, 2022.

5. [Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province] Several Practitioners Arrested

Wang Baolong, an officer from the Yangming Police Department’s Domestic Security Division, led police officers to arrest Ms. Zhu Yanhua in Hualin Town on July 11, 2022. They ransacked her home and confiscated her Falun Gong books and bank cards. The police released Ms. Zhu but said a trial was scheduled for July 26. The police have been monitoring her for about two years.

Officers from the Yangming Police Department arrested Ms. Zhang Shumin. She was beaten so badly that she almost stopped breathing several times. After she was released, people in plainclothes watched her near the stall she operated, which was her only source of income.

The officers ransacked Ms. Chen Jinfeng’s home and confiscated Falun Gong books and photos of the founder of Falun Gong. They also took her son to the police department twice for questioning.

The officers arrested Mr. Sun Chengshun and detained him for 15 days.

Two officers went to the home of Chen Fengqing (gender unknown). Chen was not at home. They took two photos of Chen’s spouse and left.

Police officers in Ning’an City arrested Ms. Jiang Ying, Ms. Sun Xia, and Ms. Gong Wenju. The three practitioners were released that evening. They also harassed Ms. Shang Xiufang and ransacked Ms. Xu Guoqin’s home.

6. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Feng Yunjuan Arrested

Ms. Feng Yunjuan was arrested at her home in Huyun New Village, Longfeng District by over ten people led by Hu from the Lindian Police Department’s Domestic Security Division at around 8 a.m. on July 12, 2022. The officers ransacked her home and confiscated her Falun Gong books and photos of the founder of Falun Gong. Ms. Feng’s son went to the Lindian Police Department at around 7 a.m. on July 13 to look for his mother. The police said that his mother had been taken to Daqing City Detention Center shortly after 3 a.m.

Two sisters, Ms. Du Jinyan and Ms. Du Jinbo, who are Ms. Feng’s relatives, were also arrested at their homes in the Datong District No. 8 Oil Production Plant housing by officers from the Datong District Police Department. Their homes were ransacked and their Falun Gong books and photos of the founder of Falun Gong were confiscated. Ms. Du Jinbo was released that day and Ms. Du Jinyan is being held in the Daqing City Detention Center.

Ms. Feng and Ms. Du Jinyan’s father-in-law, Mr. Wang Dianwen, 81, and mother-in-law, Ms. Tian Guiqin, 80, were also arrested at home in the oil production plant family quarters on July 12. They were all released that day.

7. [Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Lin Chunzi’s Bank Account Frozen

Ms. Lin Chunzi, of Korean nationality, is 79 years old. Since the Chinese Communist Party began to persecute Falun Gong in 1999, she has been detained, taken to forced labor camps, and sentenced to prison many times.

When Ms. Lin went to collect the survivor’s compensation (which was issued after her husband’s death) she found that her account was frozen. She was not able to withdraw deposits on her passbook.

8. [Linkou County, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Yang Fengrong and Ms. Wang Hongxia Harassed

Three officers from the Nanshan Police Station went to the home of 86-year-old Ms. Yang Fengrong at around 2:30 p.m. on July 11, 2022. They photographed her.

A residential officer from the Zhanqian Police Station and others went to Ms. Wang Hongxia’s home, videotaped her and photographed her around 2:30 p.m. on July 13.

9. [Deyang City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Jian Yicong Arrested

Ms. Jian Yicong, 59, from Huangxu Town was arrested by officers from the Lushan Road Police Station while talking to a student about Falun Gong on Lushan Road on July 19, 2022. Her home was ransacked that day. She has returned home but the officers threatened to come to her home again.

10. [Xuchang City, Henan Province] Mr. Wang Yongsheng Placed in Criminal Detention

Mr. Wang Yongsheng and his wife Ms. Huang Wenhong were arrested at home on July 14, 2022, by over 20 officers from the Yuzhou City Domestic Security Division and the Huolong Police Station, who surrounded their home. Ms. Huang was released and Mr. Wang was placed in criminal detention by the Yuzhou City Police Department.

11. [Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province] Fifteen Practitioners Arrested

Fifteen practitioners in Hailin City were arrested and their homes were ransacked on July 11, 2022. If a card or sheet with Falun Gong content was found in the practitioner’s home, he or she would be detained for 7 to 15 days. Five practitioners are currently being detained. Mr. Liu Yunxiang, nearly 80, was placed in criminal detention. He was sentenced to four years in prison in 2010.

12. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Shi Shuhuan Arrested

Officers including Zhang Guangpeng from the Donghu Police Department went to Ms. Shi Shuhuan’s home and arrested her on the afternoon of July 12, 2022. They ransacked the place and confiscated several Falun Gong books. They took Ms. Shi to the police department and pressured her to write a guarantee statement. She was not allowed to go home until 2 p.m. the following day.

13. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Several Practitioners Harassed

Four or five officers from the Sheli Township Police Station in Acheng District went to Ms. Wang Yanqiu’s home and photographed it around 10 a.m. on July 1, 2022.

They went to Ms. Wang Zhongrong’s home and photographed it at around 2 or 3 p.m. on July 4.

They also knocked on the door of the home of Mr. Wang Fubin and his wife Ms. Sui Jinghua. They left after no one answered the door.

14. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Four Practitioners Taken to Detention Center Again

Ms. Du Zhonghua, Ms. Wang Yaxin, Ms. Ji Guiqin, and Ms. Guo Liyun returned home on July 15, 2022, after seven days of administrative detention. They were again arrested that morning by officers from the Shuiwuzhuang Police Station, the Chadao Police Station, and the Wali Police Station in the Kaiping District. The four practitioners are being held in the Tangshan No. 1 Detention Center.

15. [Wuchang City, Heilongjiang Province] Several Practitioners Arrested

Several practitioners from Shanhe Town were arrested by Shanhetun Forestry Bureau police officers while distributing Falun Gong materials in the family quarters of the forestry bureau. They were held in the Shanhetun Forestry Bureau Detention Center. The officers ransacked their homes that evening and confiscated two printers, ten large packs of paper, seven small packs of paper, four boxes of drinking water, a computer, notepads, several envelopes, a DVD burner, 46 Falun Gong books, and over 9,000 yuan in cash. The cash was returned.

The date they were arrested and the practitioners’ names are not yet available.

16. [Ruichang City, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Tong Jinping Detained for Over a Month

Ms. Tong Jinping, Ms. Tong Yinping, and Mr. Li Yilong were arrested by officers from the Ruichang City Police Department and the Yongquan Township Police Station, including officer Luo Bing, on June 16, 2022. When the three practitioners were taken to the detention center, Ms. Tong Yinping and Mr. Li were denied admittance, for failing the physical examination. They were released the following day.

Ms. Tong Jinping was taken to the Xiushui County Detention Center and has been held there for over a month. Ms. Tong’s husband called the police to ask about her current situation. The head of the Ruichang Domestic Security Division told him that if she did not sign paperwork, she would not be released. If she insisted on not writing a statement to renounce Falun Gong, he would take her to the court and lock her up for two more months.

Ms. Tong is being held in Jiujiang City Detention Center.

17. [Weihai City, Shandong Province] Mr. Ma Xiao Detained for 30 Days

Mr. Ma Xiao from Nantang Village, Rushankou Town, Rushan City, Weihai City, Shandong Province, was arrested by officers from the Nanjing City Police Department in Jiangsu Province on June 22, 2022. He is being held in the Shijia Natural Village, Shuangjin Village, Chunxi Sub-district, Gaochun District, Nanjing City. He has been detained for 30 days.
