(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 16 cities or counties in 9 provinces, where at least 29 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Judge Xu Bing of the Linghai City Court and community management office staff members went to Ms. Wei Xiuying’s home in Jincheng Town to deliver an indictment on July 19, 2022. Ms. Wei’s husband questioned them, “Article 36 of the Constitution does not list Falun Gong as a (slanderous term removed). Xu replied, “I don’t know. Higher authorities asked us to come here.”
Mr. Tan Shouli was arrested by officers from the Liqiao Police Station in the Shunyi District on March 6, 2022. It has been over four months since his arrest. His case was brought to the Shunyi District Court on July 18.
Mr. Jia Fengzhong was scheduled for the third time hearing at the Zunhua City Court on the morning of August 2, 2022. He was told that it was because the procuratorate changed the charges.
A court hearing was held for Mr. Jia at 9 a.m. on March 11, and a second hearing was held on June 16.
Ms. Jiao Guichun and Ms. Wang Ce were scheduled to be tried by the Rongcheng Court on July 28, 2022.
Ms. Xu Bin was arrested by officers from the Weixing Road Police Station on July 4, 2022. She was first quarantined, and then on July 12, she was taken to the Weizigou No. 4 Detention Center. The police did not notify her family until July 18. According to the Chaoyang District Procuratorate, Ms. Xu has been officially arrested and faces prosecution.
Four practitioners, Li Wanlin, Tang Junmin, Liu Haixia, and Baomei (their genders are unknown), were reported to the police while distributing Falun Gong materials in Yangping Town, Chencang District on the evening of July 19, 2022. They were arrested and are being held in the Chencang District Detention Center.
Ms. Du Lianhong from Xicheng Village, Qingyun Town, Yanshan County, Hebei Province, was arrested and her home was ransacked by officers from a police station in Laoling City, Shandong Province, around 8 a.m. on July 21, 2022.
Mr. Huang Shaolong was arrested around 10 a.m. on July 21, 2022. Now his 80-year-old mother is left unattended at home.
Ms. Li Feng was arrested and her home was ransacked around April 20, 2022. It was reported that her case was turned over to the procuratorate. Ms. Li is probably being held in Hohhot City No. 1 Prison.
Ms. Fan has been missing since April. No one has heard from her since then.
Ms. Li Yuelan, who lives in Section 20 of the Chuangyecheng community, stepped out the door to throw away a bag of garbage around 7 a.m. on July 12, 2022. As soon as she opened the door, seven or eight plainclothes officers rushed in. Two of them showed their police IDs.
Ms. Li’s husband had just had surgery and had been discharged from the hospital a few days before. His chest and head felt uncomfortable during the home invasion. Ms. Li quickly gave her husband a pill that relieved his heart pain. Their daughter immediately called an ambulance to take him to the hospital.
While Ms. Li tended to her husband, the police ransacked the place and confiscated photos of the founder of Falun Gong, Falun Gong books, and her grandson’s printer. The printer was returned that afternoon after the police verified that it was used by her grandson for his studies. Ms. Li was taken to the Longfeng Detention Center for five days of detention. She was also fined 200 yuan.
Ms. Tang Zengye was arrested at home and her home was ransacked around 4 a.m. on July 11, 2022. Ms. Li Shuxia and Li Zhiqing (gender unknown) were arrested at home at 6 a.m. and their homes were ransacked. Li Zhiqing was released.
Ms. Liu Nianhua was arrested by the Changlinggang Township police around 4 p.m. on July 21, 2022, while she was distributing Falun Gong materials in the Changlinggang area in Huangtugang Town. She was held overnight at the Longchi Police Station, and was released at 11 a.m. the next day.
Officers from the Chengguan Police Station in Pingtan County returned to Ms. Chen Yingxia’s home on July 22, 2022. They ransacked it and confiscated her cell phone and paper bills with Falun Gong information printed on them. Ms. Chen, who is in her 20s, refused to go with them. They intimidated her and arrested her.
The officers tried to pressure Ms. Chen to cooperate during the interrogation, and threatened that she would not be able to go to college or have a career if she did not cooperate, but Ms. Chen still refused to answer their questions.
They decided to give Ms. Chen five days of detention, which was postponed due to the pandemic. Ms. Chen has since returned home safely.
Around noon on July 7, 2022, after Ms. Guo Liyun was arrested, a man and a woman in plainclothes were staked out near the downstairs entrance to her apartment building. A large number of police officers, members of the sub-district administration office, and community management office staff soon arrived and pried open her door. They ransacked her home, confiscated many personal belongings, and installed another door lock. After 10 o’clock that night, several people came into the house to steal things.
Ms. Guo was detained in the Tangshan City Lockup Center. Seven days later, she was transferred to the Tangshan City No. 1 Detention Center.
Mr. Wang Peng, his wife, and another female practitioner were arrested on the evening of July 20, 2022, when they were reading Falun Gong teachings at Mr. Wang’s home in the No. 5 Economic Development Zone. Due to the pandemic, the two female practitioners were released and returned home that night. Mr. Wang was taken to the Changchun City No. 4 Detention Center.
It was reported that the officers went to Mr. Wang’s home to look for his mother, but could not find her. They arrested him instead and ransacked the place.
Ms. Qu Shengzhi from the Fangxiao area was arrested by officers from the Lamadian Police Department on July 12, 2022. The officers ransacked her home and confiscated a printer, a computer, and a large number of personal items. Ms. Qu was released on bail.
Ms. Zhang Zunlan from the Xiashan District was harassed and her home was ransacked by officers from the Changyi Domestic Security Division and the Taibaozhuang Police Station on the morning of July 14, 2022.
Ms. Yang Guiying, in her 80s, from the Ranghulu District, and other practitioners whose homes were ransacked on July 12, 2022, were all released on bail.
Mr. Deng Hai owns a motorcycle taxi and was driving to downtown Qu County on July 14, 2022. He was stopped by two officers from the Chengbei Police Station in a police car and was taken to the Chengbei Police Station office, located on the second floor in the Qinglong Town Community building.
After waiting for over an hour, two men and a woman arrived and claimed to be from the Sichuan Province Political and Legal Affairs Committee. They said they’d confiscated a large number of Falun Gong books from Mr. Deng’s home last year and this year, and if it were not for the fact that Mr. Deng had been sick in the hospital, he would have been put in jail long ago. They pressured Mr. Deng to sign a commitment or explanatory statement, which he refused. He was later released.
Ms. Zhao Qingping, 50, and her mother-in-law were arrested at home around 8 p.m. on July 19, 2022. Their home was ransacked. Ms. Zhao has refused to cooperate with police demands and remains in custody. It’s not known where she is being held. Her mother-in-law was released.
