(Minghui.org) There is an ancient saying in China: “It’s easy to cultivate one’s morals if one works in a government office.” If government employees do good deeds for the people, if they conduct themselves in a kind and upright manner, it's easy for them to accumulate virtue. As I understand it, it would also be easy for them if they wanted to cultivate their character in a spiritual practice.
In fact there were many such stories in ancient China, where people working in government offices received blessings because they did good deeds, such as helping relieve poverty, redressing grievances, educating people to free them from ignorance, helping the weak and the young, refusing bribes or blackmail, refraining from using excessive punishment for their own benefits, or messing up the law, etc. Such blessings also benefited their children and future generations.
Jailer Blessed for Saving a Thousand Lives
In the early years of Emperor Kangxi in the Qing Dynasty, Chen Li, a native of Shanyin, went to Pingyue Prefecture, Guangxi, to serve as a jailer (note: the official in charge of the prison). He saved and released more than 1,000 women who had been captured during the “Revolt of the Three Feudatories.” Fearing that the rebels might find out and punish him, he set his house on fire and faked his death, and then quietly hid away somewhere else and did not return until the rebellion was quelled.
Thanks to his accumulation of such great virtue, Chen Li’s descendants continued to be successful in officialdom. His eldest son, Chen Yungong, was a successful candidate in the highest imperial examinations in the 33rd year of Emperor Kangxi, and was appointed to be an editor in the Hanlin Academy and Left Assistant Censor-in-Chief (Zuo Qiandu Yushi); his second son, Chen Tinglun, was a successful candidate in the highest imperial examinations in the 39th year of Emperor Kangxi, and was promoted to be Governor of Luzhou in Anhui. Chen Tinglun’s daughter became Emperor Qianlong’s imperial concubine and was later honored as Concubine Fang.
Chen Li’s grandson, Chen Qixiang, served as governor of GuangRaoJiuNan Dao in Jiangxi. Four of his other grandsons became successful candidates in the imperial examinations at the provincial level in the same year -- the first year of Emperor Yongzheng. Chen Qirui was appointed magistrate in Zhenjiang, Jiangnan; Chen Qixian served as governor of Fuzhou in Shaanxi; Chen Qifang was appointed as magistrate of Jianli County in Hubei; Chen Qishu served as vice director of Ministry of Penalty. One other grandson, Chen Qishou, was the beneficiary of special privilege offered to the Chen family due to their achievements and official positions; another grandson, Chen Qishen, was a successful candidate of the highest imperial examinations in the 17th year of Emperor Qianlong, and served as an editor in the Hanlin Academy.
Now, let’s take a look at Chen Li’s great-grandchildren. Chen Shengrui served as the Shaanxi Censor-in-Chief of the Ministry of Penalty; Chen Shengshi served as Censor-in-Chief of Shandong; Chen Shengchuan, who served as magistrate of Taiwan County of Fujian, was later killed in the rebellion led by traitor Lin Shuangwen, and was conferred the hereditary position of Yunqiwei (a military position); Chen Shengxiu served as deputy magistrate of Yunnan Prefecture. All of them were successful candidates of the imperial examinations at the provincial level.
Chen Li’s great-great-grandson Chen Guangning, with the hereditary position of Yunqiwei, served as general-in-chief in Shouchun, Yanzhou and Tengyue.
Promoted after Learning the Truth
Now fast forward to the modern time. Since my husband is a government official, I also get to know quite a few of his peers. As a Falun Dafa practitioner, I always take opportunities to help them learn the truth about Falun Dafa and to encourage them to quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its associated organizations. Many of them quit the CCP after learning the truth, and have enjoyed many blessings as a result.
Once, when we were having a dinner party with people from the same hometown, someone mentioned Falun Dafa. Zhang Meng (alias), a bureau-level official in his 30s, said something rather negative about Falun Dafa. I didn’t say anything at the time as it didn’t feel appropriate. Not long after, I went to a local park and saw a large exhibition organized jointly by the local CCP committee, the local government, the union and the Communist Youth League. I thought: “We must not allow these evil display boards to poison people’s minds. They are committing a big crime!” So I went to talk with Zhang.
At the meeting with him, I said to him sincerely, “You’re one of the elites among our fellow-townsmen, and you really need to know the truth. I’ve come to talk to you for your own sake and I really care about your future.” I gave him a few truth-clarification CDs and told him about some of my personal experiences in Falun Dafa cultivation. After learning the truth, he had people remove the exhibition display.
Later, he also brought his family members to my place to learn the truth about Falun Dafa and the persecution. I gave them the software to break the internet censorship and materials such as Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party and The Ultimate Goal of Communism. He and his family members all quit the CCP and its affiliated organizations after they learned the truth. Thanks to his righteous actions, Zhang was constantly promoted, and is now serving as the mayor of a prefecture-level city.
There is also another official, Li Ming (alias), who works in the Political and Legal Affairs Committee, an extra-judiciary agency tasked with persecuting Falun Dafa. He was very scared that he might be in trouble for participating in the persecution.
“You will be fine as long as you start to rectify yourself and stop getting involved in the persecution.” I also gave him some truth-clarification booklets and CDs. Later, all three members in his family quit the Party.
One official in charge of the persecution of Falun Dafa in a county met with an ill fate. His successors also suffered misfortunes, which many people believe to be a natural result from their involvement in the persecution. However, after Li was assigned to serve in that county, he protected the practitioners and did not have any trouble. A few years later, he was promoted to serve in the municipal government.
Blessed
I work as a doctor in a private clinic, and I always clarify the truth about Falun Dafa to my patients before treating their illnesses. I also tell them to remember to recite the auspicious phrases “Falun Dafa is good; Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.” I know Dafa’s mighty power can help people in the most desperate situations. If my patients work in government departments, especially in the law enforcement or judiciary branches, I would make a point to tell them not to get involved in the persecution of Falun Dafa.
There is one lady who works as an assistant to a senior CCP cadre. She suffered infertility for many years, but after I clarified the truth to her and helped her quit the CCP, she gave birth to twins even though she was already in her early 50s. Are the two things related? Many people believe that they may well be.
There are also a number of heads of the public security departments who suffered male infertility and were still childless in their 50s. However, after they vowed that they would never persecute Falun Dafa again and quit the CCP, their wives became pregnant within one or two months. Coincidence? Or the omnipresent principles of the universe at work behind the scenes, just as in those timeless tales of old from ancient China?
