(Minghui.org) Three Suining City, Sichuan Province, residents were secretly sentenced to prison on June 15, 2022 for their faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Mr. Chen Lin, 48, was sentenced to 2.5 years and fined 10,000 yuan. His wife, Ms. Yao Zhongmei, 48, was given 1.5 years and fined 5,000 yuan. Their relative, Mr. Chen Jianbo, 37, was sentenced to 1 year with a 3,000-yuan fine. The couple’s private car and computers were confiscated.
The couple was arrested at home on September 29, 2021, by officers from the Anju District Domestic Security Office and Fenghuang Police Station. Their two computers, two printers, and dozens of Falun Gong books were confiscated. While Ms. Yao was released on bail that afternoon, Mr. Chen Lin remained in custody at the Suining City Detention Center.
Ms. Yao was taken back into custody at the Suining City Detention Center on November 3. Five days later, Mr. Chen Jianbo was also arrested and held in the same detention center.
According to an insider, the three practitioners were targeted after being reported for talking to people about Falun Gong and distributing Falun Gong materials. They were indicted by the Anju District Procuratorate and sentenced by the Anju District Court. Other details about their case are still being investigated.
