(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 21 cities or counties in 10 provinces, where at least 40 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Mr. Zhang Hongqian, his wife Ms. Ju Yuxia, and their son Mr. Zhang Yuexing were arrested at home around 2 p.m. on July 6, 2022. Mr. Zhang Yuexing was released on August 2. Mr. Zhang Hongqian was held in the Ningjin County Detention Center. Ms. Ju was held in a hospital in Xingtai City, and family visits were denied.
Around 10 a.m. on April 22, 2022, Sizhilan Town government personnel, Sizhilan Town Police Station officers, and domestic security officers from the Ningjin County Police Department arrested Ms. Ju, her husband and their son, and took them to the Xujiahe Police Station. They ransacked the three practitioners’ home. They confiscated paper bills with information about Falun Gong written on them and a box of Falun Gong books. The three practitioners were released the following afternoon, and were told that they were placed under residential surveillance. During this period, some people repeatedly went to the practitioners’ homes and harassed them.
Ms. Su Chengjuan was harassed, intimidated and threatened many times by local police station officers, Luozhou Sub-district Administration Office staff members, and Jianshe Neighborhood Committee personnel for practicing Falun Gong. They pressured her to give up practicing. As part of the “zero-out” campaign this year, they threatened Ms. Su with her son’s job opportunities.
Ms. Su’s son, Mr. Wu Hao, was admitted to the Zhanjiang Coast Guard Bureau in October 2020. On May 1, 2021, the bureau director forced Mr. Wu to resign on the grounds that his mother practiced Falun Gong. After her son was forced to resign, everyone in the family blamed Ms. Su, and her previously harmonious family turned into one filled with resentment. Even her son who used to be close to her is angry with her.
Mr. Zhang Zhifeng, 76, from the Taibaozhuang Village was arrested at home on June 22, 2022. He was held in the Mengyin County Detention Center. In June, without notifying his family, he was taken to Jinan Court for trial.
Ms. Xing Fengmei was sentenced to one year and six months in prison.
Ms. Zhang Zuomei from Honglan Village, Nancun Town, received a phone call from prosecutor Zhao from the Huangdao District Procuratorate on July 18, 2022. Zhao told her that her case was turned over to the procuratorate and asked Ms. Zhang to go to there on July 20. Ms. Zhang felt unwell on the way to the procuratorate and returned home.
On August 1, Ms. Zhang received a call from the Huangdao District Court, asking her to go to the court on August 2, and threatened to cancel her bail pending trial if she did not show up. The next day, Ms. Zhang went to get paperwork processed for bail, and the judge told her the trial was scheduled the following week.
Mr. Wang Peng’s family was notified on August 5, 2022, that he was officially placed under arrest. He is being held in the Changchun City No. 2 Detention Center.
Ms. Xie Jin’e, 80, and Ms. Zhang Lanyun, 73, from the Lishui District, were reported to the police and arrested by plainclothes officers when they talked to people about Falun Gong at a vegetable market on July 28, 2022. Their homes were ransacked. Their Falun Gong books and photos of the founder of Falun Gong were confiscated.
On July 29, officers from the Yongyang Police Station took the two elderly practitioners to the Nanjing City Detention Center. The detention center refused to admit Ms. Xie because she had high blood pressure. The officers then took her back and wanted to fine her 1,000 yuan, which she firmly refused to pay. Ms. Xie was released that night. Ms. Zhang is still being held in the detention center.
Ms. Zhang Xiucui was arrested on August 1, 2022. Her home was ransacked and a computer was confiscated. Her current situation is unknown.
Mr. Guo Hongshan was held in the Chengde Prison, Hebei Province. He was transferred to a detention center in Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province, in early August 2022. His current situation is unknown.
Ms. Deng Zhenzhen was arrested at home by officers from the Yingzhong Police Station on August 2, 2022. She is being held in the Zhongxiang City Detention Center.
Ms. Dong Yiran was tried via video link by the Heping District Court on August 4, 2022. The court appointed a lawyer to defend Dong Yiran, but no result was announced at the end of the trial.
Staff members from the Tangji Community Management Office and officers from the Chezhan Police Station broke into Ms. Gao Shuyun’s home on July 29, 2022. They pressured her to write the three statements.
Three officers from the Yuhua Road Police Station and one officer from the Yuhua Police Department stopped Ms. Wang Juan at the entrance of her workplace and put her into a police car. They took Ms. Wang to her home and ransacked it at around 8 p.m. on August 4, 2022.
The Yuhua Police Department placed Ms. Wang under 14-day administrative detention the next day, on August 5, and held her in the Shijiazhuang Administrative Detention Center. They claimed that a surveilliance camera showed Ms. Wang mailing truth-clarification letters twice.
Officers from the Fate Town Police Station confiscated a photo of the founder of Falun Gong and desktop calendars from Mr. Cheng Baogui’s home on July 23, 2022. They also issued a fine of 700 yuan, which he did not pay.
On August 1 and August 2, officers continued to harass other practitioners in their homes in Fate Town. Further information is pending.
Ms. Zhou Hailan, in her 60s, from Lingyuan City, rode a motorcycle to Ershilipu Village to clarify the truth about Falun Gong. She was arrested and her motorcycle was impounded. Further details are pending.
Yang Shaoqi from the Aoping Town Government led 20 to 30 police officers and 610 Office members to Ms. Gu Zucui’s home in Hongyan Town at 5 p.m. on August 2, 2022.
They threatened Ms. Gu to make her sign paperwork. She clarified truth to them, but they did not listen.
Ms. Li Fangfang was reported to the police while talking to people about Falun Gong on August 3, 2022. After receiving the report, the Dugong Police Station and the Jihong Police Station, both in Tiexi District, arrested Ms. Li. She was taken to the Dugong Police Station that day, and was transferred to the Tiexi District Police Department that night. She was taken to the Shenyang City Detention Center in Zaohua Town, Yuhong District, the following day.
Ms. Zhang Zuofeng from the Wangjingguofeng Residential Community in Chaoyang District has been missing since July 28, 2022. No one has seen or heard from her.
Ms. Zhou Hailan was reported to the police in Ershilipu Village and was caught by village officials on August 3, 2022. Later, officers from the Songzhangzi Town Police Station arrested her. She is being held in the Chaoyang City Detention Center.
Ms. Chen Hua and her husband Mr. Hao Zhiqiang were arrested by officers from Kazuo County Police Department and Chaoyang City Police Department. Ms. Chen has been held in Kazuo County Detention Center and Mr. Hao has been held in Chaoyang City Detention Center. It has been over two months, and their cases have been turned over to the procuratorate.
Ms. Li Jing was sentenced to three years in prison and taken to Liaoning Province Women’s Prison on June 24, 2022. Ms. Yu Shufen was sentenced to three years and two months in prison and taken to the women’s prison on July 28.
On July 13, Mr. Zhang Kunshan was tried for the second time via video link. He was sentenced to seven years in prison, and the Chaoyang City Intermediate Court upheld the original verdict.
On July 3, 2022, the Chaoyang City Police Department held a meeting which was attended by every officer. At the meeting, executive deputy director Tian Ye instigated everyone to continue to persecute Falun Gong practitioners on a regular basis.
On June 11, 2021, the Chaoyang City Police Department, in a large-scale campaign, arrested over 20 practitioners and their families in downtown Chaoyang City and in Lingyuan City. Subsequently, seven practitioners in Lingyuan City were sentenced to prison.
Mr. Zhang Kunshan was sentenced to seven years in prison;Ms. Yu Shufen was sentenced to three years and two months in prison;Ms. Li Jing was sentenced to three and a half years in prison;Ms. Wu Yanling was sentenced to three years in prison;Mr. Wang Zhongxue was sentenced to two years in prison;Ms. Liu Sulan, 76, was sentenced to one and a half years in prison;Ms. Wan Guiying, 73, was sentenced to one year in prison.
Ms. Zhang Ping from Cangzhou was arrested while talking to people about Falun Gong on August 2, 2022. She was taken to the Xihuan Police Station. The officers ransacked her home and confiscated all her Falun Gong books. She was given a detention term of 10 days for public order violations. She is being held in the Cangzhou City Detention Center.
Several practitioners in Dongfeng New Village were harassed by the police on July 12, 2022. The officers confiscated their Falun Gong books and other items.
Officers from the Daqing High-tech Zone Police Department broke into the home of Ms. Zheng Liyan (in her 60s) in the Lusejiayuan Residential Community, Dongfeng New Village. They pressured her to sign paperwork and threatened that if she did not sign she would be arrested and her grandchildren’s schooling would be affected. They confiscated all her Falun Gong books. All this has brought pressure and harm to her and her family.
Several officers entered the home of Ms. Liu Zhenlan, 86, in the No. 5 Section of Dongfeng New Village, and pressured her to write a guarantee statement. They also wanted to take her with them. They called and forced her daughter to go to the police station to sign paperwork on behalf of Ms. Liu.
The officers went to Ms. Li Xiaomei’s home in the Dongfeng New Village several times. She was not at home, so the officers phoned her daughter. Their harassment frightened her family and disrupted their work and lives.
Ms. Hei Yan was arrested by officers from the Xinglonglu Police Station on July 13, 2022. Her home was ransacked and all her Falun Gong books, photos of the founder of Falun Gong, two printers and a computer were confiscated.
During the raid, the officers broke the door lock. They left a notice which stated that Ms. Hei was placed under criminal detention.
Mr. Yu Fujiang, 59, was arrested in late June 2022. He was held in the Xingtai City No. 1 Detention Center.
