(Minghui.org) A Falun Gong practitioner in Yiyuan County, Shandong Province was sentenced to 2.5 years in late August 2022 and has been taken to the Shandong Province Women’s Prison.
Ms. Li Hualian, 65, was arrested in April 2022 after being reported for talking to people about Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999. The police put her under residential surveillance and later submitted her case to the Yiyuan County Procuratorate. The Yiyuan County Court convicted her months later.
Ms. Li took up Falun Gong in February 1998, when she was bedridden due to many ailments, including a heart condition, back pain and sciatica (nerve pain to the sciatic nerve). Only three days after she learned the practice, her symptoms disappeared. She strove to live by Falun Gong’s principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance and her character also improved.
Prior to her latest sentencing, she has been arrested in 2005 and had her home ransacked. The police threatened to hang her up by the wrists. Although she managed to escape from the police station, she was arrested again on the next day and given two years at Zibo Forced Labor Camp. The police continued to harass her after she was released.
