Additional Persecution News from China – August 22, 2022 (11 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 10 cities or counties in 7 provinces, where at least 18 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Mr. Ren Qingbai Persecuted

Mr. Ren Qingbai from the Muping District was arrested on August 5, 2022. His home was ransacked. He is now detained in the Muping District Detention Center.

Mr. Ren has been arrested and detained multiple times.

He was arrested twice from July to December 1999 and was detained for 10 days each time.

He was arrested and detained in the Muping Government Hostel for about 20 days in early March 2000. He was watched by police officers and fined 3000 yuan.

He was detained for 15 days in the Muping District Detention House around October 4, 2000, for appealing for Falun Gong in Beijing.

He was subjected to two years of forced labor and was detained in the No. 2 Forced Labor Camp of Shandong Province from the end of October 2000 to the end of January 2002.

He was arrested and detained for about 15 days by the 610 Office in early May 2003. After he learned that he might face further persecution, he left home and did not come back until mid-October 2003.

He returned to his work unit in November 2003. He only received 500 yuan per month for his work and his salary was suspended for 14 months.

2. [Meishan City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Yu Ziqun Sentenced to One Year in Prison

Ms. Yu Ziqun from Renshou County, 67, was arrested in September 2021 and was taken to a brainwashing center. She was tried and sentenced to one year in prison by the Renshou County Court on August 9, 2022. Ms. Yu is currently detained in a detention center.

3. [Guan County, Shandong Province] Mr. Zhang Bingliang and His Sister Ms. Zhang Yuxiang Arrested

Mr. Zhang Bingliang from Tiangtang Township was arrested by the county police around 5 p.m. on August 19, 2022.

His younger sister Ms. Zhang Yuxiang was arrested on the afternoon of August 18, 2022. Her whereabouts are unknown.

4. [Shuozhou City, Shanxi Province] Ms. Li Cuirong Harassed

Ms. Li Cuirong went to the Beicheng Police Station in the Shuocheng District to get a replacement ID card in early August 2022. She was pressured to have her blood sample and photo taken.

5. [Laizhou City, Shandong Province] Ms. Lou Shuxian Arrested

Ms. Lou Shuxian from Tushan Town was arrested and taken to the Huibu Police Station on August 14, 2022, for talking to people about Falun Gong. Her home was ransacked. The police confiscated truth-clarifying materials, amulets and paper bills imprinted with Falun Gong facts.

The officers went to her home on August 18, 2022, and informed her that she was placed under 15-day detention. Ms. Lou has left home to avoid further persecution.

6. [Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province] Six Practitioners Arrested

Six practitioners were arrested in the Anshan Town Market in Li County by officers from the Anshan Town Police Station on August 16, 2022. There are three practitioners from Shijiatuo Village in Xinji Town including Mr. Wang Qinghua, Ms. Wang Ying, and Ms. Shen Yanru; two from Wugezhuang Village of Matudian Township including Ms. Bai Hanzhi and Ms. Xuan Xiaowen; and Mr. Chen Dong from Feigezhuang Village. The practitioners were first taken to the Changli Detention Center. The male practitioners were then taken to the Changli Detention Center and the female practitioners were taken to the Qinhuangdao Detention Center.

Mr. Wang Qinghua’s home was ransacked while no one was at home. The police confiscated his computer, printer, two cell phones, and his Falun Gong books. Mr. Chen Dong’s home was ransacked as well and some Minghui Weekly were confiscated.

7. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Fan Yusheng Harassed

Four officers including Bao Zhicheng, head of the Dancheng Town Police Station, and officer Jin Guozhu, went to Mr. Fan Yusheng’s home in Yijiatun Village of Dancheng Town on July 12, 2022. They ransacked his home and confiscated two Falun Gong books. Mr. Fan was taken to the police station for interrogation. Officer Jin Guozhu went to Mr. Fan’s home on July 28, 2022, and videotaped it.

8. [Yanshan County, Hebei Province] Du Lianhong Arrested

Du Lianhong from Qingyun Town of Yanshan County was arrested by officers from Laoling City, Shandong Province. The police ransacked Du’s home and confiscated 12 computers and printers, Falun Gong books, and the photos of Falun Gong’s founder.

9. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zou Shuqin Harassed

Ms. Zou Shuqin was harassed at home by police officer Chen Fei. Her Falun Gong books were confiscated. Ms. Zou left home to avoid further persecution.

10. [Songzi City, Hubei Province] Ms. Hu Guorong Arrested

Ms. Hu Guorong and her non-practitioner husband were arrested at home on August 5, 2022. They are currently detained in the Songzi City Detention House.

11. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Practitioner Fu Taken to Brainwashing Class

Fu (first name unknown) was tricked into going to the Kuancheng District Education Bureau on August 18, 2022, and was held in a brainwashing class for more than an hour. The brainwashing class was set up under the orders of the Changchun City Politic and Legal Affairs Committee
