(Minghui.org) A Zaozhuang City, Shandong Province resident was sentenced to 2.5 years with 3 years of probation and a 30,000-yuan fine in July 2022, for raising awareness about her faith in Falun Gong.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
A group of officers broke into Ms. Xia Lingmei’s home on June 14, 2021 and arrested her. They claimed that she was reported for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong and that they located her through surveillance cameras.
After two weeks at the Tengzhou City Lockup, Ms. Xia was transferred to the Xuecheng District Detention Center. She developed severe anemia and insomnia due to the abuse and was released on bail in late August 2021. The Shanting District Court convicted her in July 2022.
Ms. Xia, a former hospital employee, was previously arrested on May 14, 2009 and had her home ransacked. She was arrested again on December 11, 2015 and detained for ten days for suing Jiang Zemin, the former head of the Chinese communist regime who ordered the persecution of Falun Gong.
