(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 16 cities or counties in 9 provinces, where at least 36 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Sun Yuke (gender unknown) was arrested at home by officers from the Linzi District Domestic Security Division and the Wenshao Police Station on July 6, 2023. Sun was held in the Linzi Detention Center. Sun was tried on September 6, and was notified on September 13 that he or she was sentenced to three years in prison. The Zibo City Intermediate Court upheld the original verdict on September 29. Further details are pending.
Liao Xiaoning (gender unknown) was arrested on February 23, 2023 and held in the Bailingtou Detention Center. Liao was sentenced to one year and six months in prison by the Chengyuan District Court in October 2023.
Ms. Zhao Li from Xi’an City, Shaanxi Province, wrote a truth-clarification letter in June 2022 to Judge Liu Lipeng of the Wujiang District Court in Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province. After receiving the letter, Liu gave it to the Wujiang District police, who then handed it over to the Yubei District Police Department in Chongqing.
On July 20, five officers including Tao Jinglin from the Xinpaifang Police Station in Chongqing and Wang from the Political Security Section of the Yubei District Police Department in Chongqing broke into Ms. Zhao’s daughter’s home and arrested Ms. Zhao. The officers confiscated her computer and printer. Ms. Zhao was released on bail that evening.
The Jiangbei District Procuratorate sent Ms. Zhao’s case to the Jiangbei District Court, which scheduled a trial at 9:30 a.m. on October 24, 2023.
Ms. Zhang Haihong was secretly tried via video link by the Chaoyang District Court on the morning of October 12, 2023. Her family was not notified.
Zhao Zisheng (gender unknown), 73, from Huaiyang District, went out to distribute informational materials and talk to people about Falun Gong around 8 a.m. on May 18, 2023. At 9 p.m. that evening, three officers from Dancheng County and three officers from Huaiyang District broke into Zhao’s home and confiscated five memory card readers and more than 20 amulets. Zhao was officially arrested on June 23 and held in the Dancheng County Detention Center.
Wu Fangming (gender unknown) was arrested by officers from the Hecheng Police Station on September 28, 2023. Details are pending.
Ms. Yuan Cuifeng from Yangzhai Township, Zichuan District, was arrested at home by officers from the Zichuan District Domestic Security Division at 7 a.m. on September 20, 2023. She is being held in the Zibo City Detention Center.
Ms. Yi Qunying was arrested by officers from the Jiahe Police Station in the Chuanshan District on March 14, 2023, and released on March 25.
Ms. Tang Ruiqin was arrested on the morning of October 14, 2023. Her home was ransacked.
Residential officer Sun Shuli from the Moshikou Police Station in Shijingshan District, led Shi and another community management staff member to the home of Mr. Tai Hongquan and his wife Ms. Yang Hemei on the afternoon of October 12, 2023. Sun turned on his body camera and tried to enter the couple’s home. The couple did not allow them to enter. One of them took pictures of the couple.
Sun previously harassed the couple several times over the phone.
Practitioner Luo, with the given name Xiu or Xiuyong (gender not known), from Yupu Village, Dongshan Sub-district, Rongcheng District, returned home after winding down business in the market at 11 a.m. on October 12, 2023. Two men in plainclothes who were staked out outside Luo’s home arrested him or her. Officers from the Dongxing Police Station ransacked Luo’s home and confiscated calendars. Luo was held in the Jiedong Distrit Detention Center. The next day, the police told Luo’s family that he or she would be detained for 15 days and they had to pay a 1,000-yuan fine, plus living expenses.
Ms. Zhang Juan from Ganyu District was sentenced to three years in prison for talking to people about Falun Gong. Ms. Zhang refused to accept the verdict and appealed to the Lianyungang Intermediate Court. It was reported that around October 10, 2023, the Lianyungang Intermediate Court reviewed Ms. Zhang’s appeal.
Ms. Liu Xizhen from Koutou Village, Huining Township, was working in Xingtai City when she was arrested by the Xindu District police on October 12, 2023.
Practitioners Xiaoying and Liying from Koutou Village and Wang Sanni from Xinanzhuang Village were harassed by the police every few days.
All four practitioners were arrested by officers from the Huining Township Police Station on September 25, 2022. After they were released, they were repeatedly harassed.
Ms. Mo Huiping from Huinong District came home from work around 4 p.m. on September 13, 2023. She was about to open the door, and several men in plainclothes grabbed her. They opened the door, pushed her into the room, handcuffed her, and held her down in a chair. They flashed ID cards and said they were police officers.
They ransacked her home without presenting a search warrant. Her Falun Gong books and some personal belongings were confiscated. They then arrested Ms. Mo and took her to the North Mancheng Street Police Station.
Around 7 p.m. on September 14, officers Ma and Zhang turned on body cameras and took Ms. Mo to her home for a second search. The officers later produced an interrogation transcript and ordered her to sign it, which she refused. She was detained for 15 days.
Fifteen days later, on September 29, Ms. Mo returned to her workplace and learned that the dormitory where she lived had been ransacked. The officers questioned the leaders at her workplace about employing people “like Ms. Mo” (Falun Gong practitioners) and threatened them. As a result, Ms. Mo lost her job.
Four officers went to Mr. Ren Haibo’s home at noon on October 9, 2023. After entering his home, an officer said it was related to his cell phone and Internet content. They took his copy of Zhuan Falun when they left.
It was reported that Ms. Xiao Fengwen from the Huajiadi Residential Community, Chaoyang District, was arrested around September 29, 2023.
It was also reported that starting on October 12, police officers in Jingwang, Wangjing, Huajiadi, Jinzhan Township and other areas in Chaoyang District went to practitioners’ homes to harass them. People were assigned to keep an eye on each practitioner’s home around the clock and to follow them when they went out.
Ms. Li Xiaoqin and 14 other practitioners were arrested by the police when they were reading the Falun Gong teachings at a practitioner’s home. The police ransacked the practitioner’s home and confiscated a printer. The practitioners were detained for a week, and some up to 15 days, before they were released.
Mr. Wang Lidi, a teacher in the Medicine Division of Hubei University of Science and Technology, was arrested at his office around 10 a.m. on October 7, 2023 by five people, including plainclothes officers and campus security personnel. Two assisting police officers walked next to Mr. Wang, one on either side; one took pictures with their cell phone, and the other with a body camera.
An officer took out a summons stamped with an official seal from his bag to give to Mr. Wang and take him to the Chalukou Police Station. They told him to sign the summons, which he refused. These people forcibly pushed him into a police car and took him to the police station.
At the police station, they searched Mr. Wang and took his keys, several sheets of paper with content from Zhuan Falun, and a handwritten poem from Hong Yin. They also photographed him. Mr. Wang was then taken to the interrogation room. He was brought home at 1:30 p.m.
