(Minghui.org) A resident of Linyi City, Shandong Province, was arrested in January 2022 for practicing Falun Gong and was sentenced to one year. As Mr. Liu Jinguo refused to renounce his faith, he was subjected to constant torture. He is now very thin, his wrists are numb, his feet and legs are swollen, and he is very sensitive to cold temperatures.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline based on three tenets, “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.” It has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Mr. Liu, a former assistant principal of the Linshu Neighborhood No. 4 Elementary School in Linshu County, was widely recognized as a good leader and teacher. He had previously been sentenced to three years in prison for practicing Falun Gong, following an arrest on March 1, 2016.
While he was serving his first prison term, the Linshu County Education Bureau, Human and Social Affairs Bureau dismissed him from his job. His 80-year-old father became seriously ill from constantly worrying about him, and Mr. Liu’s son dropped out of high school due to the stress of the persecution.
Latest Persecution
Mr. Liu was talking to people about Falun Gong on January 11, 2022 when he was reported to the police. Qiu Feng, the director of the Domestic Security Office, arrested him and took him to the Linshu County Detention Center.
During the physical examination, Mr. Liu was dragged on the stairs and punched in the head and chest by a police officer for reciting “Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.” He was also forcibly given a vaccine shot and had his blood drawn.
Torture re-enactment: Force-feeding
At the local detention center, Mr. Liu told the police that there is no law in China that criminalizes Falun Gong and he asked to meet with the director of the detention center.
As Mr. Liu refused to wear the inmates’ uniform, the guards force-fed him. They also handcuffed him to the bed and refused to release him when he needed to use the restroom. He was forced to relieve himself in his pants and the guards also refused to change the wet bedding.
Li Fangchun, an agent of the 610 Office, recruited a group of people and arranged for them to brainwash Mr. Liu in the detention center, despite the pandemic restrictions at that time. When officers from the Public Security Bureau came to visit the detention center, Mr. Liu tried to report the persecution taking place there, but to no avail.
The Linshu County Court later sentenced Mr. Liu to one year and fined him 5,000 yuan. He appealed with the intermediate court but it ruled to uphold his original verdict.
Mr. Liu returned home in January 2023. Due to the persecution in the detention center, he became extremely thin. He is suffering from numb wrists and has to use both hands to hold a pen to write letters seeking justice. His feet and legs are swollen and he is sensitive to cold temperatures. His wife contemplated divorcing him due to the mental pressure of the persecution, but later changed her mind.
