(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 9 cities or counties in 5 provinces, where at least 12 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Yu Xiulan, 77, has been held in custody since she was arrested on March 1, 2023 by officers from the local police station.
Ms. Yu was persecuted multiple times in the past. She was taken to a brainwashing center in November 2001, where she was forced to watch TV programs that defamed Falun Gong. She was also forced to write a statement promising not to practice Falun Gong.
Ms. Yu was arrested by local officers for talking about Falun Gong and distributing informational materials on July 2, 2016. She was held until July 26, 2016. Agents from local police station, residential committee and court repeatedly came to her home to harass her since then, especially during major holidays and the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) sensitive dates.
Agents from the Dongba Police Station and the Community Office went to Ms.Yu’s home to harass her on October 12, 2017. They told her to stay home and not go out because the 19th National Congress of the CCP was about to begin. Many agents were stationed near Ms. Yu’s home and followed her when she went out for grocery shopping.
Ms. Chen Qinglan was arrested by officers from the Shulan City Domestic Security Division on August 23, 2022, and has been held in custody since then. Her husband Mr. Meng Xiangfu, 70 who was a practitioner, passed away on October 24, 2022 while Ms. Chen was detained.
It was recently learned that Ms. Chen was sentenced to 2 years in prison.
Ms. Wang Guili, 74, was arrested by officers from the Shifu Street Police Station on February 15, 2023. She was sent to the Shijiazhuang No. 2 Detention Center the next day and held there. Her arrest was officially approved by the Xinji City Procuratorate on March 1, 2023.
Ms. Wang was previously taken to the Shifu Street Police Station on November 6, 2021 for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong. She was released on bail on the same day and given a one-year-term.
It was learned a few days ago that Ms. Wan Nianlin was arrested.
Mr. Jin Yijun’s trial was rescheduled to the afternoon on April 7, 2023. The trial will be held in the Chengguan District Court.
Ms. Zhang Ping’s trial was changed to 2 p.m., April 7, 2023.
Mr. Jia Jianhuai’s trial was changed to April 7, 2023.
It was learned that Ms. Mo Liqiong, an accountant, was transferred to the Hunan Provincial Women’s Prison on March 15, 2023.
Ms. Liu Aihua was tried on March 10, 2023 and sentenced to 4 years in prison. She is still being held in the Changsha No. 4 Detention Center.
Mr. Liu Jiageng, 70, was arrested at home by three officers from the Beimeng Town Police Station on March 30, 2023. An officer told Mr. Liu not to distribute informational materials about Falun Gong and asked him to sign a statement. When he refused the officers arrested him.
Ms. Cong Lanying was arrested at home by officers from the Domestic Security Division of Huancui District Police Department on February 1, 2023. She was sentenced to 4 years in prison and fined 20,000 yuan (Approx. $2910 USD) on February 16 by the Rongcheng City Court. She was charged with, “using a (slanderous term deleted) organization to sabotage law enforcement.” Ms. Cong is currently held in the Wendeng Detention Center.
