(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 15 cities or counties in 9 provinces, where at least 19 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Cai Zefang is in her 80s and lives alone. In 2022, she was repeatedly arrested by officers from the local police station. She was taken to a brainwashing center in Yilong County but was not admitted. A facility in Nanchong City also refused to accept her.
On January 18, 2023, someone saw her being arrested again. She is currently held in the Nanchong No. 2 Hospital, also known as Nanchong Psychiatric Hospital, where she is in shackles and handcuffs.
Mr. Zhao Yubo was tried at the Lishan District Court on the morning of March 28, 2023.
Ms. Tang Suqing, in her 80s, was given a six-month sentence by the Yingshan County Court, to be served outside the prison. She was recently arrested again. Her paralyzed husband is left alone at home.
Mr. Zhao Weidong, 61, a former employee of Xinhua Machinery Factory in Tai’an City, was sentenced to 12 years in prison by Taishan District Court in 2014. He was tortured in the Shandong Province Prison and was released in June 2016.
On April 5, 2022, Mr. Zhao was followed by police officers while distributing information about Falun Gong, and was taken to a police station. The next day he was released on bail by the Taishan District Police Department.
On the afternoon of March 24, 2023, Mr. Zhao received a call from the Taishan District Procuratorate. He was told to hire a lawyer to review his case files.
Ms. Li Yuhua from Xuanhua District was dragged into a car by a young man when she talked to people about Falun Gong on March 25, 2023. She was taken to the Nandajie Police Station. She returned home that afternoon.
After Ms. Zhang Chunjie was detained for 15 days, her family members went to the detention center to pick her up on March 7, 2023. However, officers from the Dongzhan Police Station took her directly to the hospital for a physical examination. That night, Ms. Zhang was taken to the No. 4 Detention Center and then to the Changchun City Supervision Center. Her family was notified that her administrative detention had been changed to criminal detention.
Ms. Liu Yuhong was reported to the police for telling people about Falun Gong. She was arrested by officers from the Mashan Police Station in Jimo District on the afternoon of February 25, 2023. Her home was ransacked that evening.
When Ms. Qi Yuling went to Ms. Liu’s home to visit her, she was arrested by the officers who were ransacking Ms. Liu’s home. Ms. Qi’s home was also ransacked. The two practitioners have been placed in criminal detention in the Pudong No. 2 Detention Center. It was reported that their cases would soon be turned over to the procuratorate.
Ms. Zhang Yupei from the Songwangzhuang Residential Community, Lanshan District, was arrested on the afternoon of March 10, 2023. Her home was ransacked that evening. She was released that evening.
Ten officers from the Political Security Division of the Qidu Police Department, led by deputy director Ming Jing, broke into Teng Lihua’s home and arrested Teng on the afternoon of April 24, 2023. They confiscated photos of the founder of Falun Gong and 161 paper bills (money) with information about Falun Gong printed on them. Teng was released on bail that evening. Zichuan District Procuratorate brought Teng’s case to Zichuang District Court.
Shi Wen (gender unknown) from Wanghua District was reported to the police for telling people about Falun Gong on March 20, 2023. Shi Was arrested by officers from the Wanghua District Domestic Security Division and the Guangming Police Station. Shi’s home was ransacked. Shi is being held in the Nangou Detention Center.
Ms. Zhang Xiuchun from Tahe County was arrested while distributing Falun Gong materials in early March 2023. She was sent to the Tahe County Detention Center. She has returned home.
When Ms. Su Xiake distributed information about Falun Gong at Central China Normal University on October 26, 2021, some students reported her to the police.
On October 27, officers from the Hongshan District Domestic Security Division took Ms. Su from her home to the Mafangshan Police Station in the Hongshan District. After Ms. Su was released on bail, the police handed over her case to the procuratorate, which brought it to the court.
Ms. Su was tried on March 3, 2023, and was sentenced to one year in prison, suspended for two years, and fined 3,000 yuan.
Ms. Yuan Jianying was arrested by officers from the Xukou Police Station in the Wuzhong District around March 3, 2023. She is being held in the Huangdai Detention Center.
Officers from the Beiguan Police Station, Hantai District, broke into Ms. Lai Suzhen’s home at noon on March 24, 2023. Two guests happened to be visiting 90-year-old Ms. Lai. The officers asked the guests their names.
Ms. Li Xiuhua refused to cooperate with the officers. They took pictures of her and called in more officers. They took Ms. Li to the Dongguan Police Station where her household registration information was on file. Ms. Li returned home that afternoon.
At around 9 p.m. Hantai District Domestic Security Division staff called Ms. Li’s family and insisted that she go to the Domestic Security Division. Ms. Li’s current situation is unknown.
Ms. Zhang Cuifang was arrested by officers from the Yulin City Domestic Security Division on August 1, 2022.
After Ms. Zhang was held in custody for nearly eight months, she was scheduled to be tried via video link on the afternoon of March 9, 2023. She did not cooperate and remained silent throughout the proceedings, which resulted in the trial being canceled.
According to the Yuyang District Procuratorate’s indictment, Ms. Zhang was to be sentenced to four years and six months in prison.
Three officers, including Li Xisong from the Wanjia Police Station, went to Ms. Chen Guizhi’s home in Qiansunjia Village on March 10, 2023, and asked her to sign a guarantee statement that she would not practice Falun Gong. Ms. Chen refused to cooperate. They confiscated a copy of Zhuan Falun and an audio player.
Ms. Wang Guihua was arrested by officer Lin Weikun from the Hanan Police Station in the Nangang District on September 8, 2022, for telling people about Falun Gong and distributing Falun Gong materials.
Ms. Wang was locked in the interrogation room for three days and was detained for 15 days.
The Harbin City Detention Center was closed at the time due to the pandemic, so she was instead taken to Bin County Detention Center. On September 26, 2022, she was released. After she returned home, she learned from family members that they paid a fine of 1,000 yuan. They also paid 1,380 yuan for two nucleic acid tests, and 1,000 yuan for board and lodging for the three days she spent in the police station. The food and water her family brought her, worth more than 200 yuan, were confiscated by the police.
