(Minghui.org) Mr. Bai Xuesong’s family was finally allowed to see him for the first time in two years on March 30, 2023, eleven days before he was to be transferred to the Nanguanling Prison in Liaoning Province to serve 3.5 years for practicing Falun Gong.
According to his family, Mr. Bai, a 50-year-old Anshan City, Liaoning Province resident, was extremely thin and they estimated that he had lost around 50 lbs. He told his family that he was always starving at the Anshan City No. 2 Detention Center. Using the pandemic as an excuse, the guards had forbade his family to see him or send him necessities. He wasn’t allowed to buy extra food.
Mr. Bai was arrested on January 19, 2021 with another practitioner Ms. Shi Yanying. They appeared in the Lishan District Court four times before being sentenced on September 29, 2022. Mr. Bai was sentenced to 3.5 years and Ms. Shi received 3 years.
The two practitioners appealed with the Anshan City Intermediate Court, which ruled to uphold their original verdicts on January 11, 2023. The two practitioners’ families received the notice on March 28 of the enforcement of their prison terms.
